How will McCain explain what he said in front of millions of people in 2000?

John McCain is sounding gung ho about being against abortion. Now I remember watching a debate among republicans running for prez in 2000, and there was this candidate Gary Bauer who is adamantly against all abortions. He looked at John McCain and said, "Suppose your daughter came to you and said she was pregnant and wanted an abortion. What would you do? McCain got a strange look on his face (I guess any father would). Then he said very determindedly like answering a challenge these exact words. "I would support my daughter." There's got to be a tape of it; it was broadcast nationally. Will the democrats use it during the presidential campaign once McCain is actually nominated--to try to show he's a hypocrite?

  1. I'm sure there's a copy of the tape at DNC headquarters. It should be a fun election season.
  2. I think it would be silly to use what can only be described as being a good father against John McCain.
  3. It could be argued his daughter is an adult and responsible for her actions, and a good father respects that. It also make him look flexible which is an asset
  4. Wow! You can remember that from 8 years ago. LOL! Please ,without a legit source ,someone can make up anything .
  5. gee was that all he said? i mean, what do you expect him to say? I would forcefully make her have the baby? that's impossible, guy, sorry just like i support my friends but i dont AGREE if they get an abortion but im not gonna say we are not friends anymore because we disagree... come on DUH. it's not hard
  6. Why worry about it. Any good father would support their kid, nothing hypocritical about it.
  7. And I remember 10 years ago passing a mosque and seeing Obama come out. See,anyone can play.
  8. You should follow this up - ring a couple of networks to make sure they're aware this happened. If it pans out, he'll look pretty silly. Even so, I don't think it'll be enough to stop him. The Democrats have fallen on their sword. Does anyone seriously think the US is ready to elect either a black or female President? Not on your Nelly! Your next President is John McCain - mark my words!
  9. I am not a fan of McCain. I supported Romney and McCain, in my opinion, is the lesser of three evils. I doubt that this will be brought up for one reason. Supporting his daughter is not the same as lobbying for abortion. If he told her that adoption is the better road, he could still be supporting her. I don't have kids but I would absolutely support them in whatever choice they made, whether I agree with it or vehemently oppose it.
  10. Maybe he meant he would support her financially. OR maybe he was just being a FATHER. That is ignorant. I dont like abortions, but doesn't mean I would hate my daughter. Cheney was criticized also for supporting his daughter even though he didnt believe in gay rights.
  11. I HAVE BEEN TRYING TO TELL PEOPLE THIS ALL YEAR ! mccain IS NOT PRO LIFE, AND NEVER WAS. HE CALLED EVANGELICALS EVIL IN 2000 AS WELL. GOVERNOR MIKE HUCKABEE SHOULD BE OUR CANDIDATE ! THIS IS WHY I WILL NOT VOTE IN NOVEMBER, AND I PRAY OTHER CHRISTIANS STAY HOME TOO ! WE MUST STOP BEING THE REPUBLICAN PARTY'S HOUSE SLAVES ! ~OM~
