JOHN McCAIN admits that his stance on Iraq could cost him the 2008 election, what do you think ?
The fact is that 60% of Americans still, for the past few years, do NOT support this war. The president's approval ratings is at 30%, and has been for a long time. It will not go any higher than that, I assure you. So with all of the criticism that the Bush Administration has faced, which is 10 times more than any other Administration, do you think Bush can pull a rabbit out of his hat ? As well as the GOP Party ? Don't hold your breath..... John McCain has nothing solid to go on. And many independents are going over to Obama's train. The numbers of his club members, is incredible. And noone wants to join a losing team. Which is why a lot of Republicans are switching to Democrats, or Independents. The war card has played its last hand. Now what ? It is the economy stupid. McCain has zero credibility in that department. So. What do you think he will do ? Thank you SALLY B. You are a very intelligent woman.

- He has a different perspective on the entire situation. Aside from that, he is a Republican.
- I agree with 90% of what you posted.
- I'm voting for John McCain. If he loses the election for standing up for what he believes in and standing proud for all those men and women fighting for our safety, then I will still have the utmost respect for him. If he wins the election by changing his stance to "cut and run" defeatism, like Hillary and Obama, I'd lose all respect for him.
- Okey doke,we know you are an Obama supporter. So just throw that in next time.
- Very often, the right thing to do and the easy thing to do are NOT the same thing to do.
- He was a decoy for Hillary from the beginning. It was never the planned for him to win. Wake up America
- He is back-peddling 101, I think he understands that the only way to view the Iraq war is to leave, not to stay for 100 years
- McCain is a realist about the war in Iraq and I respect him for not selling out to popular opinion. He's a true leader, not just some schmuck that tells you what you want to hear.
- If you can explain why Bush was reelected then you might understand why McCain will get elected. The desertion of conservatives is the ONLY thing that could cost him the election. That desertion would NOT be because of his war stance. It is actually the seriousness of being in war that will gain him the conservative support and why he will be elected. If you disagree, be sure to look at the first sentence again.
- Finally admit the truth that we were led into Iraq under false pretenses............which he won't! Which just proves he's an old fool who should never get into the oval office except as a guest!
- I keep hearing that so many republicans are switching to democrat, but the ones I know are all voting Republican. Actually the few dems I know are voting Ind because of Obama.
- When he has the debates with Barack or Hillary, the american people will see what a bunch of communists they are. McCain will win, or god help us all. Hope you like mushroom clouds if he doesn't win.
- Wow, those are some pretty impressive statistics you made up there. Pretty impressive claims. Of course, you have the facts to back it up, right? I don't support this war. I'm one of your fictitious 60%. BUT, I also recognize that we have to be there now. I also recognize that just taking our bat and ball and going home would add disaster to difficulty. Surrendering, when things are finally starting to get under serious control is the height of irresponsibility. We'll be out when it's time to get out. And, there's a good chance we'll build a permanent base or two, just as we have in Germany, Japan, Italy, Korea and half a dozen other countries were we've been ASKED to maintain bases. You need to think past this one second in time and look at the future. You need to think about the cause and affect of our actions. If we do this...what will happen versus if we do that. This is something that democrats seem to find rather challenging, but it's important. Becaue actions to have results. It'd be helpful to know what those results might be...don't you think?
- I think he's a smart man..and i'm sure it will cost him the election
- Anyone who votes for McCain, or any of the candidates for that matter, are not informed. This guy takes the issue of war so lightly. I mean he wants to be in Iraq for 100 years, he wants to "bomb bomb bomb Iran" and he'd immediately declare martial law and bomb everything in sight.
- I hope he is right.
- There is no way to leave Iraq 60 days after a new president is elected. If any canidate tells you this, they are blowing smoke up your butt plain and simple. I'm not saying the Bush Admin has done an oustanding job in Iraq, but we have invested too much time energy and money to just call it quits. Dems say they want to pull out of Iraq, even though we are winning and stabilizing the country, and relocate to Afghanistan? Why? What can we do in Afghanistan? OBL is being protected in Pakistan, not Afghanistan. We need to push Pakistan into making the ultimate decision in their young democracy, which is to let US troops into the North to capture and kill OBL. Then we can leave that region, and relocate to Iraq, and continue there.
