Would you not vote for Senator John McCain because of his age?
John McCain is 71 years old. We live in a society were some people are against those who are 70 years or older from driving their vehicles. So it is only natural were some people might be against him running the U.S.A

- not because of his age, but because of his hypocrisy Rails against lobbyists, yet has lobbyists working on his campaign Railed against the Bush tax cuts, now wants to make them permanent Talks about National Security yet never bothered to read the Iraq 2002 NIEs. For someone who claims all of the honors of a soldier and knows what it is like to be in a war, shouldn't it have been incumbent upon him to read the 35 pages of the report before voting to send our men and women in uniform to war. Knows nothoing about the economy- self admitted. Our economy and national security are tied together. If we are weak economically, we are not secure. Why would we hire someone who knows nothing about that.
- age really shouldn't matter, but at least he's younger than ralph nader. nader is 74.
- no, i wouldn't vote for him b/c of age
- All we need is another Bill Clinton in the house. His prehistoric views of governing America are out of wack!
- As long as he can pass the physical, I wouldn't care. I'd really want to like the VP, though! LOL
- No, that's not why I'm not voting for him.
- He's too old to be president - old and old fashioned.
- Ageism, like racism, is illegal in the U.S. But John McCain IS an old boy's club sleazeball. John McCain has supported, done busines and taken favors from crooks who wind up in prison, like Charles Keating who helped destroy the Savings and Loan banks. Yesterday, another friend and co-chair was indicted, Rick Renzi. "This is Sen. John McCain. I'm calling to urge you to support my friend Rep. Rick Renzi for Congress. Rick has represented the first district of Arizona with tenacity, honesty and integrity beyond reproach. I work with Rick every day and can report to you his total dedication to the people of Arizona and the United States. Please join me in supporting rural Arizona's workhorse congressman on Nov. 7. [Paid for and authorized by Rick Renzi for Congress]." Renzi has also been one of the co-chairmen of McCain's presidential campaign in Arizona. John McCain fooled around on his first wife with the woman who became his second wife. John McCain was proud to ban Martin Luther King Day in Arizona. That is why Republicans supported him back then.
- His age is not a problem. It is his hot-headedness, stubborness, and his flip-flopping on important issues.
- I have considered not voting for mCcain because of his age. But, since he is the oldest candidate running and there is no 81 year old for me to vote for, i am voting for him. His age is not a handicap, but Obama's youth might be.
- i would not vote for him because of where he stands on certain issues. on the hand i do prefer a younger candidate around 50. i think you are right about the attitude towards people over 70. i belong to that category as well. i think a younger president will bring change. an older president would be doing the same things that are making this country go downhill.
- No. I don't care about his age. My vote for him is a vote against someone else.
- Even if he wasn't old...
- Democrats are better. I wouldn't vote for him because on his age. Its for his views.
- If today's 22 year olds are behaving like 12 year olds, why can't a 71 year old be president? People are maturing later, and living longer. I mean, grampa Mick Jagger is what, 65? John McCain looked a lot better when young. You seen his pictures from Vietnam era? I guess it doesn't help that those pictures are black and white. Ha ha...
- i do think that there will be those that will not for someone because of their race, gender or age. in most cultures, the old are revered for their life experiences and the wisdom they have accrued through their lifetime. they are acknowledged for this wisdom and the young listen and evaluate it and apply it to their own lives. sadly, in our culture, this is different for our Seniors. we put our old people in home and give over any responsibility for their care. we forget the sacrifices and care they gave us while growing up. i know many oldster have heath problems from living but many are still vibrant and able. we should not judge a person simply because of their age as this is ageist. we should vote for or against a person based on their ideology's, age should not be a factor in their reasoning. there are those that will let age be their reason.
- It's not that he's 'old', it's that he's wedded to the past. He's a nice old man, for sure, but he represents the reactionary right...not the american wage-earner. He may believe that cutting taxes and borrowing more is a good thing. He may believe that the application of enough firepower can solve all problems and he may also believe that not everyone needs affordable medical insurance....hey...they can just go to the nearest emergency room...right? He may not believe that climate change is real and he may also believe that turning over our economy to major corporations is a good thing. Likewise, he may believe that waving the flag and shaking the cross is a cure all and an argument stopper. He's convinced that the US doesn't need to ride herd on the polluters or the Wall Street shuck and jive artists either. Are his beliefs the function of his age....probably not, but they are a function of reactionary thought that gave us eight years of the Bush Junta.....more of the same.....don't make me laugh. By the way, I'm only a few years younger than John and believe me, while as I said, Johns' a nice old man, he's not the guy I want leading my country..why? Because he really doesn't get it! No kiddin'!
- Age seems like a very silly reason for electing or not electing a candidate. It's all about the issues.
- That is not why, no. I voted for Reagan when he was older, and would GRATEFULLY vote for Ron Paul in November, and he is 72. I won't vote for McCain, but his age has nothing to do with it.
