If John McCain were president...?
If John McCain wins the presidential election, what will he do differently than George W. Bush?
Public Comments
- The age and the face.
- he wouldnt be dumb like george w. bush
- nada
- why don't you explore his platform and issues. Why ask us? We're not John McCain
- The mere thought of it kills me from the inside. Please don't do that again.
- he freaks me out
- definitely not get the troops back, we know that. you know now that you mention it, they ARE pretty similar...its no wonder Bush endorsed him.
- Replace 'If' with 'When.' I hope he continues President Bush's policies. We can not afford to change ideals during wartime. We, as Americans, need to line up behind the President so the world hears one voice.
- He won't make his decisions based on what God tells him to do.
- If John Mccain were president..America wouldn't have to worry about Barrack or Hillary being shot
- I am not sure if your question is loaded or not. What will Hillbilly and Osmaba do besides start WWIII by taking us out of Iraq?
- No I won't I think the last 8 years have shown we republicans don't really have to live up to any promises or actually be conservative we just have to say we are and by the way Ann Coulter really does love me, I had a 3 way with her and Vicki Iseman
- With no love lost between them, McCain began 2001 by breaking against the new George W. Bush administration on a number of matters.[166] In January 2001 the latest iteration of McCain-Feingold was introduced into the Senate; it was opposed by Bush and most of the Republican establishment,[166] but helped by the 2000 election results, it passed the Senate in one form until procedural obstacles delayed it again.[167] In these few months McCain also opposed Bush on an HMO reform bill, on climate change measures, and on gun legislation.[166] Then in May 2001, McCain voted against the Economic Growth and Tax Relief Reconciliation Act of 2001,[168] Bush's $350 billion in tax breaks over 11 years, which became known as "the Bush tax cuts". He was one of only two Republicans to do so,[166] saying that "I cannot in good conscience support a tax cut in which so many of the benefits go to the most fortunate among us, at the expense of middle class Americans who most need tax relief."[169][168] Then when Republican Senator Jim Jeffords became an Independent, throwing control of the Senate to Democrats, McCain defended him against "self-appointed enforcers of party loyalty."[166] Indeed, there was speculation at the time,[170] and in years since,[171] about McCain himself possibly leaving the Republican Party during the first half of 2001. Accounts have differed as to who initiated any discussions, and McCain has always adamantly denied, then and later, that he ever considered doing so.[166][171] In any case, all of this was enough for conservative Arizonan critics of McCain to organize rallies and recalls against him in May and June 2001
- He will work with people from both parties, and he will put the concerns of America over those of his party. He has a well documented history of doing so (McCain-Feingold, McCain-Kennedy...). He will be a uniter, not a divider.
- nothing. Read his policies they are all the same as Bush. The only stance that he differs is campaign finance reform.
- Attack Iran.
- Now thats a question. I think he would 1st-be very overwhelmed. I would hope his 1st concern would be the great people of these United States, but I don`t see that happening?
- John McCain would do more for the environment since he believes in global warming and he may take away some of Bush's tax cuts.
- He'd get stuff done fast! I'm talking just one week, 7 days. In his first week in office he would: Day One: Create crash program to fund (in the form of loans or loan guarantees) the construction of enough Bio-Fuel and Coal to Oil production plants to provide for 100% of our annual oil consumption. The 128 billion gallons of current domestic oil production we will then export. This combined with the displaced oil imports that we currently import from our allies will completely eliminate the oil export market that makes our enemies thrive. The economies of Russia, Iran, Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Venezuela, Kuwait, United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Nigeria, Algeria, Indonesia, Egypt and Oman will completely COLLAPSE!!! This is the single most important thing that I can do as President! Day Two: Disband the U.N. and form a new League of democracies with our Allies. Admit Britain, Australia, Israel, India, Singapore and yes France(on a conditional basis) into the new N.A.T.O.! Eliminate the rules of engagement in Iraq. Send clandestine Special Forces troops into Pakistan to confiscate their nuclear weapons! Day Three: Full scale aerial attack on Iran and Syria! Confiscate Iran's nuclear weapons and destroy their nuclear facilities. Destroy Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps and kill Ahmadinejad and Syria's Bashar Assad. Completely destroy the Mahdi army in Iraq and kill Muqtada Al-Sadr. Threaten to nuke Mecca and Medina if America is attacked again! Day Four: Declare Wahabist Islam a political party and an illegal enemy organization. Deport Muslims who advocate and preach destruction of the US from the United States. Day Five: Place National Guard troops at the border and order them to shoot anyone attempting to cross with rubber bullets and pepper balls. This will end illegal immigration in 1 day! Then build a both physical and technological wall at the U.S. border. Lower Taxes, institute a flat tax at 10% and ELIMINATE capital gains! Day Six: Round up and deport ALL illegal aliens in the U.S. Also, I will set up a deportation fund for American citizens who do not wish to live here any longer since they seem to do nothing but criticize America. We give you a lump sum and citizenship to say Libya and you promise to never return to the USA not even to visit. Assassinate Hugo Chavez. Assassinate Kim Jong Il of North Korea and confiscate their nuclear weapons and destroy their nuclear facilities. End Foreign Aid. Seize Saudi Arabian bank accounts and investments. Torture the al Qaeda terrorists, get them to talk.(Where's Bin Laden) Assassinate Castro. Drop some bombs on Libya. Kill Kaddafi. Build missile defense bases in Eastern Europe whether Russia likes it or not. Day Seven: Storm Northwest Pakistan and destroy al Qaeda. Capture and behead Osama Bin Laden and Zawahiri and Adam Gadahn. Show their decapitated heads on TV worldwide and again threaten to nuke Mecca if America is attacked again. Open up the S.O.R. and firebomb and destroy all of the major oil wells throughout the Middle East. By the time the S.O.R. runs out, our coal to Oil and Bio-Fuel facilities will be built. Allow Israel to deport all of the Jordanian and Syrian Arabs who call themselves "Palestinians". Overhaul the justice system kick out and prosecute all of the corrupt judges. Death penalty for sex crimes against children and child rape. Ban abortion except in certain cases. Kick out and prosecute all of the corrupt criminal politicians in office. Arrest and prosecute Bill and Hillary Clinton charge them with treason, illegal campaign contributions from an enemy of the U.S. (China)(during Bill's campaign), issuing pardons for campaign contributions and votes for Hillary's senate campaign and murder(Vince Foster) among other charges. Arrest Ted Kennedy, charge him with murder. Arrest the leaders of the ACLU charge them with treason and providing material aid to terrorists. Arrest George Soros charge him with treason. Provide tax incentives to companies that move their manufacturing facilities to the Mexico border. Tax incentives to developers providing such facilities. Consider placing economic sanctions on China. One week done, most of the major threats to the world defeated, the economy is soaring, and citizens are free to pursue the American dream.
- Nothing different. He will make sure that those designing the weapons for our troops will not get laid off. Us college graduates supporting this industry need to keep getting a paycheck too. I'm still getting mine and that's for sure. Bush catered to the privileged, which I didn't mind because I was on the receiving end. I hope McCain does the same too.
- i think he suggests that he'll go in to warzones personally blazing guns on a one mad saddle.
- Eliminate earmarks, balance the federal budget, use the Pentagon's advice, and more generally, remain true to his values and heroic vision of what an American can be.
- He appears to be more hardened towards several issues. I am hoping that he really closes our borders. I know several people in my area that allow illegal immigrants to live at their homes, party, make babies (to 'anchor' them here) & fully take advantage of every 'freebie' that they can. I don't know how McCain will really end up being if elected all I know is I don't trust any of them!
- even so the other choices depress me.
- Uhm, he might try to reach across the aisle. However, he's still got a contentious congress to deal with. Leave him where he is.
- he's arlready promised 100 years in Iraq. unlike that silly Bush with his 'mission accomplished' jazz. that's a promise i'll expect a neocon to keep.
- i would be happy
- If John McCain were president, we'd be better off than if Hillary or Obama were president..... ...but not much.
- He is gonna wake up and say Im gonna drop 10 bombs today yeeeaa
- He will start WWIII. He's a warmonger like none before. He wants to wipe off N. Korea. He want's to stay in iraq for the next 100 years. He wants war with iran, China and maybe Russian and the rest of the world. I hate his ugly face.
- He'd fight Global Warming, drilling in ANWR and torture, as well as abolish Gitmo and curtail pork barrel spending. But beyond those moralistic aims, unfortunately McCain is also a neocon, and wants to spread human rights/ democracy forceably even on areas of the world unreceptive to it. And while I like McCain's immigration as a Latina, I am aware that most Americans disapprove of earned citizenship b/c it conjures nightmares of Reagan's '86 amnesty. He's basically Bush with more character, and the greater moral authority to have a valid opinion on the questions of torture and the like.
- Well, first off, Bush said he might keep our troops in Iraq for 50 years. McCain said that he would keep the troops deployed in Iraq for 100 years. He also would Bomb Iran and amuse himself musically while doing it. Go to you tube and type in "McCain sings Bomb Iran." Also, I think instead of just telling the United Nations that he doesn't need their help or approval to go to war, he would also be sure to yell out a big "F*** You!" to any world leaders who may have a different point of view, sort of the way he does it in the Senate. This guy is a bloodthirsty, war happy, nut job who knows nothing about the economy!
- Well, to give him credit, he is smarter. But not much would change.
- same thing but with a mask on.
