Is the US ready for Barack Obama to be President?
Is the US as a whole ready for the possibility of Barack Obama becoming President. I am not so sure. I think a lot of people are afraid to vote for him, because he is black and has a muslim name. Yet, I think a lot these same people might have watched Muhammed Ali's fights back in the day. I think its possible that he will get assassinated if he wins the nomination. It is really unfortunate. (I don't mean any disrespect or want any harm to come to him, just asking a question...)

- I'm not afraid to vote for him! He is the future!
- are you being a scared repub. again......speaking from your own dream of put downs
- Yes Hope is a good thing. Maybe the Best of things. -Andy Dufrain Barack Obama is my 1st choice for President. On top of his amazing ability to bring people together, and a sharp mind and fantastic ability to make correct decisions the first time, here is a testament to his experience: During the first (8) eight years of Obama's elected service he sponsored over 820 bills. He introduced: 233 regarding health care reform, 125 on poverty and public assistance, 112 crime fighting bills, 97 economic bills, 60 human rights and anti-discrimination bills, 21 ethics reform bills, 6 veteran’s affairs and many others. His first year in the U.S. Senate, he authored 152 bills and co-sponsored another 427. These include: **the Coburn-Obama Government Transparency Act of 2006 (became law) **The Lugar-Obama Nuclear Non-proliferation and Conventional Weapons Threat Reduction Act(became law) **The Comprehensive Immigration Reform Act(passed the Senate) **The 2007 Government Ethics Bill(became law) **The Protection Against Excessive Executive Compensation Bill(In committee), and many more. Since entering the U.S. Senate, Senator Obama has written 890 bills and co-sponsored another 1096. An impressive record, for someone who supposedly has no experience. I'd say that's damn impressive for the Jr. Senator from Illinois.
- The U.S. is ready for someone like - like - Obama ... in your sense meaning a black person. Just not him. Clarence Thomas comes to mind, but he already has a good gig, and likely would not give up his seat.
- I think America is ready for Obama to be president. The man has alot of charisma, and he is raising hopes in many people. I am afraid that he will not be able to deliver on his promises once he is in the White House because the government is more about gridlock than about getting things done.
- Obama wants to give the UN 241 billion dollars to help fight poverty around the world. He also will not do anything to stop the flow of illegal alliens into America. Anyone can spill bull about change we can live by, how about enforcing the Laws we need to live by. Obama, might get shot, but not by a racist, he has a better chance of getting a bullet from a man who lost his job to another illegal allien.
- I don't think Obama is ready for the US Presidency and all the dilemmas that will be inherited by our current administration.
- Stop being so naive. First of all, if the dude does get into office he'll get shot, bottom line. Some pisssed off redneck with too mach Jack Daniels in his system will kill that fool. I don't like Osama, I'm sorry I mean Obama, I think not only is he not right to lead a country WHOSE FLAG HE DOESN'T WANT TO SALUTE, but he's an empty suit. If he does get voted in he's going to walk into the Oval Office with a shiiit load of problems just piled up...and he's not going to know what the fuk to do. I don't like him not because the color of his skin, but because he's an idiot. I could care less if he was rainbow colored. He's not right for the job. Bottom line.
- I don't want him as president. There are no good options except for Ron Paul and he won't win.
- TO BE HONEST.. I THINK AMERICA IS READy AND OBAMA WILL MAKE A GREAT LEADER. 0BAMA '08
- People say they haven't seen anything like this since John Kennedy... he got in by being new, young, popular but he and his family had skeletons in their closet, some whoppers! I think he faces more of a risk from racial groups, if he upsets the Muslim community in any manner, way or form, he could face elimination by his own people so he is going to have to be very careful about being loyal to many different groups. It is a pity that he didn't wait a few years to run for President, he has a young family that should have him in their lives more and a young wife that should be enjoying her marriage and her children. I don't know what his feelings on womens issues are, his wife doesn't seem to say a whole lot but is touchy feely and all smiles when she joins him on stage with the children. Perhaps if Hillary had small children or grand children and a husband without a history of womanizing walking up in the same manner she would be seen differently. He appears to catching people up in some sort of American dream. Like New Years Eve, everyone makes promises and thinks life will be different but is that what really happens. If you can't take yourself into the future and let someone totally do it for you because of what comes out of their mouth, they say the right things, look the right way, avoid the serious issues and keep to one or two topics. Only time will tell and I don't think anyone wishes him any harm but he as any President, will be gullible and open to scrutiny and the eyes of the world including the terrorists both inside and outside America.
- I believe MOST Americans have no problem with race yet there are some full of hate for the African American race--they are consumed with hate and fear, I feel sad for them. This country cannot afford to follow the same path, we need change. If Hillary or McCain win that's exactly what will happen, the same they are in general a part of failed government. The rich does not worry about paying gas bills, grocery. doctor, losing their homes, electric/water etc. none of the essentials needed to maintain daily and monthly, give me a break........
- I am voting for him and there are people of all races/economic backgrounds supporting him. I think there may be some radical racists who do not want to see a person of mixed race as President, but I think they are the minority.
- I don't think it matters of who become the America's next president. Just as long as there's less racism going around, peaceful country. I hate war. equality in race for all black, white, asians. I hope that Obama being the next president will not make the Africa Americans feel revengeful and more hatred to all the other race because their ancestor was once slavery to the whites. I've seen many blacks now days don't like white people. I'm not trying to be stereostypical against anyone. I'm an asian. But I think all these ignorant racism crap needs to stop.
- I think Americans are ready for a black president, but not a Muslim black president. I don't know if you saw, but when he was sworn into office he placed his hand on the Koran, not the bible, he also looks away from the flag because it is against his religion pledge to it. Obama is not experience yet, he has only been a senator for what three years? I keep hearing comments about how much work he has done for civil rights and working with middle class, lower poverty citizens, these should not be qualifications to be a president. If Obama becomes president he going to raise taxes to take us out of the deficit we are in and is going to disturb our American history. Everyone man or women who sacrificed their lives for our freedom are going to be rolling over in their graves to see a this man in office. Once again American is ready for a black president just not Obama
