in the recently concluded Zila Parishad Election in Assam an unique case was seen. in Uttar Bajali seat (reserved for ST) of the district Barpeta Shri Premananda Hazarika a retired Teacher and honourable man with good character was elected and Shri Babul Boro was 2nd. Sri Boro complained afterwards that Shri Hazarika does not belong to ST (although everybody knows that Shri Hazarika belongs to Bodo tribe). then, The Chief election commissioner of Assam disqualified Shri Hazarika on that ground and declared Shri Boro as winner. now, if we consider the complaint to be valid (which is actually not since shri Hazarika is a Bodo) - how election commissioner declare the 2nd candidate as winner? was not there supposed to be an re-election? can something be done now? (Shri Boro is of dubious character).
