If Mitt Romney gets the nomination, then do you think he should ask John McCain to be Secretary of Defense?

I've never thought that McCain would want to be Mitt Romney's vice president, since until the days of Dick Cheney the vp spot has generally been comparable to an open grave. But since McCain is so passionate about the war, do you think he'd be willing to serve on Romney's Cabinet? Would that quiet people's fears about Romney's lack of military experience? What about Secretary of State? Who else could be Cabinet members in a Romney administration?

  1. Neither one of these candidates should be elected or appointed to any position in government because they are not true conservatives. They pander to the conservative base, but if elected, they will only rewards their cronies. Sound familiar?
  2. RON PAUL! sorry, he's the new nader :] gets me all excited.
  3. I would like to see Fred Thompson as his VP.
  4. No would not be a good idea......
  5. I don't think McCain would be very welcome in a Romney administration. I think there are better qualified people in MODERN defense than McCain the fossil.
  6. Silly Wabbit, Womney has to win the Pwesidency, THEN appoint a cabinet. And that's not gonna happen.
  7. Romney is pissed at McCain dirty tricks so he would not be welcome.
  8. McCain showed what a slimey, dirty politician he is on Super Tuesday. When Romney was set to win West Virginia, 3rd place McCain told his supporters to vote for 2nd place Huckabee, just so Romney wouldn't win. The dirty strategy worked. This is the same McCain who the day before the primary in Florida deliberately lied to the media and said that Romney wanted a timetable to withdraw from Iraq. The lie spread like wildfire and McCain was able to squeak out a narrow victory because of it. Worse, when Romney confronted McCain about it during the next debate, McCain repeated his claim to Romney's face, provoking Romney to outrage that McCain had the audacity to tell Romney that McCain was more of an authority on Romney's position than Romney himself was! As if I could know more about what you believe than you do, and can call you a liar for saying otherwise!!! Very arrogant of McCain. So I would say the chance of McCain holding any position in a Romney admnistration is about zero. Plus, as has been previously said, McCain's military knowledge is outdated, and he is too much of a war hawk to make a good Secretary of Defense or Secretary of State. I would love to see Condoleeza Rice invited to serve in some capacity in Romney's administration, possibly as a running mate, so that the women and minority voters can better identify with his campaign and don't feel they have to vote Democrat. Fred Thomson and Ron Paul would be good picks, but look for Guilliani and Huckabee to be excluded for the same reasons as McCain.
