Mitt Romney: Washington "Fundamentally Broken"?

Mitt Romney says that Washington is "fundamentally broken". So where is the constitutional reform agenda? A look at the Romney website under the heading of "Issues" shows nothing related to governmental reform. Is electing him supposed to "fundamentally" change Washington? Give me a break. Is this just the Romney persona-of-the-week? This guy gives new meaning to the word mercurial. Which isn't good, since most of us don't even know the old one. (-: LDS Mom: There are actually 3 questions there. Admittedly, second is rhetorical, but the others weren't. Zach V: You make two conflicting points, no? "Romney isn't attacking the government's form/structure. He is attacking Washington's politicians." That hardly sounds "fundamental" if there's no systemic problem, just a collection of bad people. You make a good point about the out of control incumbent return rates. Unfortunately, Romney doesn't seem to be making that point anywhere on his website. Gerrymandering IS a huge issue, but one for the states.

  1. Yeah, he needs to quit harping on that. It is getting annoying. The different chairs line is getting old too. Unfotunately, the American people are sheep and if they here the same thing over and over again, they start to believe it.
  2. Don't worry...Romney and Obama are going to fix Washingotn and unite everybody...... (eyes rolling...) I'm not saying don't vote for them. I actually don't mind Romney. But enough of this "Washington is bad and I'm different, I'm change". Neither are. It's BS.
  3. Nice rant...NOT! Question any where? Mitt Romney is a stud!!! GO MITT
  4. Well no ... Romney isn't attacking the government's form / structure. He is attacking Washington's politicians. You should look up gerrymandering and the reelection rates of Washington. Last election 98% of HOR reps kept their job! And since 1964 every election has had a 80% + reelection rate for our policy makers! Washington also spends like crazy and lawmakers pander to their bases with expensive pet projects. Politicians in Washington also do a lot of promising and spend more time NOT doing what they promised. And NO it isn't a Romney persona-of-the-week. He has been saying the "Fundamentally Broken" line since he announced his candidacy. And I would hardly call the 15 years you are alluding to as "mercurial."
