Mitt Romney, animal abuser or misunderstood?

Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney admitted he took the family dog on vacation, but instead of traveling safely inside the car with the rest of the family, the Irish Setter (Seamus) rode on the top of the vehicle. After the 12-hour trip from Boston to Ontario, there was fecal matter on the roof and windows of the station wagon. Romney did have the dog in a carrier, but that would not have protected Seamus from airborne road debris that could have struck the dog at high speed. If a vehicle in front of you kicks up a pebble, you know how much damage that can do to your windshield. Imagine if that rock hit your dog in the face. Or what if the restraints failed and the carrier was flung from the vehicle onto the road? Common sense tells us that this is not a safe way for animals to be transported. Animal cruelty investigators reportedly said that Romney’s actions could have been illegal but that the statute of limitations has probably run out on the 1983 incident. http://www.fund.org/voter_guide/2008_pres_candidates.html

  1. Wow. That is really stupid.
  2. He comes across as a real ditzy guy to me, and something like that fits the dumb blonde mold. Here he is talking about it on tv. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DPpaJrJecjA
  3. Boy, you are diggin deep huh!
  4. The story is actually true, but I do like Romney.
  5. Where'd you get this, the same magazine that is covering the alien citings and births from 400 lb women and their alien kids? 1 word will describe you and that is: LIBERAL.
  6. I must say he sounds like an animal abuser to me.
  7. No. I take my dogs on the back all the time. My business and not yours. If you want to control other peoples lives go somewhere else. We're free in America.
  8. Yes, and lots of people used to travel with their dogs (or their kids for the matter) in the back of their pick up trucks. I have actually seen a puppy jump out the back of a pick up truck that was leashed to it. Scary. Lots of us would do things differently today than we would have 20 or so years ago. When I was a kid we didn't wear seatbelts, we had a station wagon that had these fold open metal seats, we all fought over who would sit in the "way back, back" with the back window wide open. This was the 70's, we did things differently. Not an excuse, it was just a different time. Watch older home movies of new parents coming home from the hospital or driving to the grocery store or watch older TV shows. Parents used to put babies on their lap in the front seat! Again, different time. People thought very differently 20, 30, 40 yrs. ago.
