Mitt Romney will endorse John McCain - Does anyone really care?

Or is Romney just kissing up for a VP consideration? PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Republican campaign dropout Mitt Romney agreed Thursday to endorse Sen. John McCain for the party's presidential nomination and ask his national convention delegates to swing behind the likely nominee, according to officials familiar with the decision. Romney collected 280 delegates during his run through the early primaries and caucuses, enough to move McCain close to the total of 1,191 needed to clinch the nomination a full nine months before the November general election. The officials who disclosed Romney's plans did so on condition of anonymity to avoid pre-empting a formal announcement later in the day. McCain was campaigning in Vermont and Rhode Island, and added a flight to Boston to appear with Romney to accept the endorsement at his waterfront campaign headquarters. 1. Much ado about nothing.
  2. No
  3. Not really. McCain is alreadt the Republican nominee.
  4. nope, not all
  5. I care...you must to or why go to the trouble of posting the article...
  6. yeah, people in utah will
  7. Yeah, I wonder what they had to promise Romney to make that happen. 10 days ago they were at each other's throats. Now they are BFF? That's believable.
  8. It might make a big difference to Romney's followers, and there are a lot of them. McCain is hated by hard-liner conservatives in the GOP, and Romney's endorsement might soften that animosity. As for Romney being picked as running mate, I don't see it happening. I think he would hurt McCain more than help him. It would look like McCain is changing a lot of things he stands for just to get elected--and that was what hurt Romney, flip-flopping based on polls. I would say it isn't likely. But then I've been wrong before. 8^p It's going to be a very interesting year. It's really only getting started now. So stay tuned!
  9. Considering Obama is going to win? Then no. It really doesn't matter at this point. Obama will easily win the Presidency.
  10. Nope! I could care less!
  11. The only reason why I care is because I live in Rhode Island and they mentioned Rhode Island in the article. I read the words Rhode Island, celebrated, and then fell asleep at the rest of the article.
  12. Actually this does in fact make a difference in more ways than one. First and foremost it brings more hard line conservatives into John McCain's camp. Without these voters John McCain does not really have a shot at winning. Second thing this does is to help end this lame duck primary. We all know John is going to win. By continuing things it only drains money and time from focusing on the race with the democrats for the White House. Not only is Mitt endorsing John but he is also asking for his delegates to swing behind and support John McCain's inevitable bid.
  13. I think each person should get their own votes from us not by chance! And as far as super deligets, I think no deliget should be worth more than any other and should come from the people only! That would be fair!
  14. Romney is endorsing McCain because he thinks this is the best thing to unite the Republican party. Democratic turnout has been much higher than Republican and since Romney dropped out, there has been even more underwhelming response to go out vote. This endorsement was necessary to begin to unite the party so Republicans would have a chance in November. Mitt realizes that though he does not think McCain may be the best candidate we could have offered, he is still better than HIllary or Obama. Besides he gets the bonus of quieting down Huckabee (who was calling for Mitt to quit when Mitt had more than double Huckabee's delegates) and helping his own prospects for 2012. P.S.
