Does John McCain now speak for Al Queda?
I just heard John McCain (CNN, 11:30pst, 2/5/07) talking about the differences between him and his Democratic candidates. Among them, he said something like, "Do we want to 'surrender' in Iraq or leave... and Al Queda has said they will follow us home..." Problem is, no one in Al Queda ever said that. The only ones who have said that are John McCain, Mitt Romney, and the other Republican candidates (and of course, George W. Bush). So is John McCain now Al Queda's newest spokesperson? Or is he just continuing the Republican party's fear-mongering? Just trying to frighten the more gullible among us into voting for him, or at least to vote Republican? And more importantly, how many Americans agree to cower in fear before Al Queda and do whatever the Republicans tell them will keep them safe? Isn't America better than that? For the record, I like John McCain. He is an American hero, without a doubt. But that doesn't mean that his political ideas are the best way forward for America.

- Superior is correct,
- Politicians will keep fear mongering as long as it works, just as they will continue to represent their constituency as long as they know what will get them elected. It is a sad state of affairs when people fall for such evil trickery, but hey, witch burning used to be common practice too.
- These politicians will say and are saying anything to get the votes. McCain is Bush's alter ego or vice versa.
- If you think for one second that the Al Queda fags wont come over here the minute we pack our bags and come home, you are not a smart person! Al Queda doesnt have to tell us word for word that they will follow us, uh Hello! They are still sending innocent people to die just to bomb a couple soldiers and villagers! WOW you didnt pay much attention in school history did you!!??? Now quite exercising your right as an American to be stupid and try to educate yourself!! Wake up people! If we do not fight back, we will be fighting the terrorists in our own streets, not just theirs! Has nothing to do with who is president, Dem. or Rep.!
- John McCain is the man for the job. He is the only candidate that has demonstrated willingness to cooperate with both parties in government, and he's been doing it for years. Every other candidate will tell you they plan to cooperate as president; I ask why, with all the time they've spent in government, have they only pondered doing this now? Or perhaps it's all a lie to make us think they will? I'm voting for John McCain because I believe as commander in chief he will make the smart decisions that can finish Iraq and Afghanistan in the proper ways so we can return our country to peace and focus on domestic issues.
- I also like McCain, and even though I am a registered Democrat, until this past year, I would have said that he would be the candidate that got my vote. But over this past year he has too much aligned himself with this war in Iraq. It seems to me that the qualities I saw in him before have been subverted to make him more electable. And this idea that Americans have to live in fear if a Republican is not President is laughable. nut6meg: This is exactly the type of rhetoric that has divided our country. If you disagree, you don't have to ridicule others for their opinions.
- McCain has served his country with honor. (note past tense) he voted against the "Bush tax cuts" a few years ago now he states that they should be made permanent I think it's possible that this former hero has "sold out".
