  1. No. Please don't listen to rumors. The picture that you saw was when the national anthem was being played. The other people in the picture chose to put their hands on their hearts. Quote from Obama about this hoo hah (which was six months ago): "My grandfather taught me how to say the Pledge of Allegiance when I was 2," Obama said, his annoyance obvious. "During the Pledge of Allegiance you put your hand over your heart. During the national anthem you sing." Look here for a discussion, plus photos of him saying the Pledge with his hand on his heart. http://www.snopes.com/politics/obama/anthem.asp
  2. It was the anthem, not the pledge.
  3. Yeah, as was said before it was the national anthem. Snopes, who has an article on it, has pictures of Obama with his hand over his heart. Additionally the article has two videos with Obama leading the Senate in the pledge --with his hand over his heart-- both videos predate the picture. There are several other rumors spread about Obama by those who want to alienate him, and stupid people who believe and pass on everything they hear. Snopes articles for the following rumors: 1. Obama is a Christian not a Muslim. 2. He was sworn in on a Bible not a Qu'ran. 3. He does not belong to a 'blacks only' church.
  4. I don't know. I also heard that when he was sworn in, he placed his hand on the Koran and not the Bible. Not that I care whether or not he places his hand on the bible, but I don't know how I feel about having a muslim as president these days!
  5. It was both!! I have the same picture of the gathering. He is a dangerous person who has a radical Muslim upbringing as well as Christian. The radical Muslims were the ones who drove planes into buildings on 911. I do not want anyone even thinking about running my country that can in any way be connected to that atrocity!! He also belongs to a black church (though he does not worship there) that does not allow whites. He is a professional public speaker and a good grass roots activist who has the capabilities to mesmerize large numbers of people who are looking for "change" Well, people, ANYONE and anything is a change from the Bush administration. He is young and totally inexperienced except for one year as a senator. The rest is just "book knowledge" Just because someone is a good public speaker doesn't mean AT ALL that they are qualified or should even be allowed to run for the most important position in the United States of America. This guy is scarey...don't fall under the spell.
  6. no. I was there and saw it with my own eyes. I had heard of such a rumor. So I made sure I paid attention...and his behavior was absolutely 100% american. He put his hand over his heart. he said the pledge of allegiance to the flag of the united states of america. He even passed out some extra flag pins he had in his pocket to show how patriotic he was...and some miniature bibles too. Each time he passed out a bible he put his hand on it and took an oath on it...
  7. And...? I don't recite the Pledge of Allegiance every day to show off my patriotism. Why is Obama any different? Oh, right: He's running for PRESIDENT. And so--as such a candidate--he should swear his loyalty to a symbol; and not the nation in general. I get it now. The FLAG is more important than the country it represents.
  8. These are just symbols, but it's a lie. Stop the smears, they don't help
  9. Get upset because it is true. He doesn't wear an America flag pin either. I'll bet (giving odds) that the man is secretly a Muslim sympathizer and will turn America into a Islamic state. He is one of the greatest promisers the political scene has ever seen. Will any of his promises come true? I doubt it. Congress will destroy him especially if a Republican Congress makes it into the House and Senate.
  10. If FOX NEWS doesn't like him, that must mean he's gonna get MY vote! Read that Snopes.com info ... true stuff. He's not a damn Muslim ... he's just been raised in such a "worldly" fashion that the right-wingers think they can scare dummies into NOT voting for him.
  11. And he runs little old ladies over with his car and drinks the blood from babies. If you think that is not true just ask Hillery.
  12. No this is utter lies. He has led the pledge in the Senate. The photo you saw was during the National Anthem. It comes for a video showing him standing and facing the flag while singing the anthem - and that is supposed to prove him unpatriotic??? Ask yourself this - how could it be true - what sort of moron would run for president and refuse to say the pledge?
  13. No. Tonalc has explained what Obama said, and you can check out the videos on snopes showing him saying the pledge earlier. Sen. Obama's one of the most truly patriotic Americans I've ever met. Spyker put several links to snopes' examination of rumours about Obama. I just wanted to comment that the way Spyker phrased his list could be misunderstood . He identified the list as being of the rumors - -but the way he wrote it, the list was of the things that are the actual TRUTH, not the rumors. As for the idea that all candidates should be REQUIRED to wear little flag pins to "prove" their patriotism....... Personally I find THAT kind of creepy! Anyway if he were REALLY some kind of Manchurian candidate as a few lunatics are thinking, wouldn't he be careful to wear that little pin and do all the "right" things? What's REALLY creepy is how many Americans are so naive that they don't even bother to ask (as you have) for references as to where people get their info before they turn around and repeat utter falsehoods like "Obama attended a radical madrassah and was sworn in on the Qu'ran" - they seem to have no clue how to evaluate the reliability of information. I saw someone online making the "brilliant argument" that it's obvious Obama is a racist because there were so many hits returned if you searched for "Obama is a racist".
