Why are some transforming John McCain into George Bush?

I've noticed that the new Democratic talking point is "John McCain is 4 more years of George Bush", when the fact is that McCain gained his recognition by going against the Bush administration on numerous issues. Do Democrats think that an election against Bush will work the third time around, even if they have to warp one of the most anti-Bush republicans into Bush to do it? aintel7, I think you'll find some encounters below you ;-) Also, what is with this "100 year" talking point? Can't anyone at least have a different timetable for withdraw? If McCain is "very conservative", why are the conservatives in the Republican party threatening to split the party?

  1. I'm yet to encounter anyone who is..
  2. Bush and McCain are both neo-cons and war mongers. Both of them support open borders and amnesty for illegal aliens. Both believe that we should stay in Iraq, "until we win." Both support expanding govt and irresponsible fiscal policies. Both got where they are because of their family. Both, in short, suck!
  3. He places his ego above the safety of our troops and country, is touting a 100 year war: a war that we were misled by our government into, has increased violence in the Middle East exponentially, and is not making us safer, they aren't far off...
  4. Bush has implicitly endorsed McCain as a way to maintain his legacy. Read the article, and learn. McCain is not a liberal, very conservative. He plans to put more conservative judges on the Supreme Court, continue the war in Iraq, invade Invade, and continue the tax cuts.
  5. John McCain is there to make sure that the Republicans will lose the election and we will never see him again after that.
  6. I really wish the McCain bashers would decide whether he's going to keel over tomorrow from old age or if he'll still be controlling our troop deployments a century from now. You can't have it both ways.
