Why are most black people supporting Barack Obama as President of the U.S. He seems to have nothing in.......
common with other black leaders such as Martin Luther King, Jesse Jackson, Al Sheppardton etc. His black heritage has nothing to do with the blacks in this country who's families were shackled, chained, starved and brought over to this country against their will. Shouldn't their candidate have strong roots in this country unlike Obama whose father was never even a U.S. citizen, but a student from Kenya. I am afraid that most black Americans will vote for this candidate just because he is black. He was confirmed in the Muslim faith, which are our enemies on the "War On Terror". What do poeple see in Barack Obama? I am using the words "most" in reference to Obama getting 80% of the vote in some of the southern states during the last caucuses. I still can't believe the nerve of some of you people! I ask a perfectly logical question politely, add important points and then get told I look like Bill Clinton's kid, am ignorant and a borderline racist. This is what's wrong with America. Some of you should not even have the right to vote with the heads you have on your shoulders. My point is: Why does Oprah and EVERY black person support a candidate who's family and himself have not endured the SAME struggles as they have? He is barely a United States citizen. We are talking "PRESIDENT"here. And I sure feel safer with Bush in now than these wannabe's who will totally pull out of Iraq, giving another Saddam a chance to get in. Challenge: Name me just ONE popular black activist who is supporting Hillary and I will agree with all your insults! To those of you who said he is not a Muslim, you are wrong. Barack Obama's Indonesian step-father was a Muslim and was the reason young Barack attended Muslim school and church in Hawai.

- Nobody ever asks white people why they gave carte blanche to the current knuckle headed idiot. Stop race baiting. Nobody's biting.
- First of all, Barack Obama is a Christian, not a Muslim. Second of all, Islam is not our enemy in the "War on Terror". Even Bush has said over and over again that Islam is not our enemy.
- They don't even know whay he stands for they are just voting him because he's black. Maybe I should vote for McCain just because he's white.
- I'm not sure that's true. Many are also voting for Hillary.
- No, he does not need roots to be a good president, look how many presidents past and present have had roots yet messed up anyway.
- Obama is not black he is bi-racial Secondly, he is gorgeous, articulate and intelligent. He definitely gets my vote
- i agree with you on that and i have heard some very ignorant things from a few friends such as "if Obama becomes president he will let black people have more money" or Obama will let us do such and such. Its like hey do you know the REAL issues. This presidential election isn't about the race or gender of a candidate, it about our country! And as a black female i will support McCain
- YOU look like one of BILL'S ............KIDS
- Jesse Jackson speaks for the whole black community? His black heritage being slaves?? Sooo... his family had to be a slave and listen to Jesse Jackson for him to be a good black president?? That doesn't make any sense. Who cares that hes black and doesnt wear African colors when he gives speeches. If he has good views and plans for America why should that matter?? There's black Americans voting for Clinton.
- I don't care whether his ancestors were " shackled, chained, starved ". What the hell does that have to do with being President? I just want a good president who's views i support and who can do the job right.
- Why do you make these blanket statements? Most black people? They are like 30 million blacks in this country and how do you know most of them support Obama? Did you do a survey? The guy is not even fully black. His mother is white. It's time for us to leave people alone. Let them vote for who they want to vote for. Obama is a good candidate. He is my number one pick. I don't care where is father is from and neither should you. This is just another divisive tactic that we will inhibit us from getting over race in this country. Black people are just normal people. Leave them alone.
- Dude this has to be the most ingorant thing I've heard. Could it be that black people vote for a person based on the person themselves and are not so simpleminded that they must have someone who has the exact same heritage as them. Could it be simply because they are tired of the status quo and are excited about what a new and fresh face would do in washington? Do white people select their candidates solely because they share the same Italian or German and English heritage?
- My vote for Obama has nothing to do with his race or color. My vote is against the Clinton/Bush dynasty that has controlled the white house since '88
- It's not just about cultural heritage, it's about social reality. Nobody checks a black person's heritage for slave ancestors before they discriminate against them. They treat them just the same. And even in Kenya his ancestors have dealt with racist colonial treatment. You seem to be splitting hairs.
- He's just a very well spoken, intelligent, and influential leader.
- Man what is your point? Let me share something with you. Back when Rev.Jesse Jackson ran for President he received an overwhelming number of Black votes but still didn't win the Democratic nomination. Why is that? Because mathematically Black votes may get a candidate over the top but we don't make up enough votes to effectively change anything on our own. So what this means if anything it's White people that Barack Obama is winning over in great numbers that is giving him the lead in this election. So are White people voting for Barack Obama because he's black? No. Are white people voting for Barack Obama because he's a Muslim? Most certainly not. Obviously whatever he stands for is winning White people over. So why not ask White people why they are voting for Barack Obama? Obviously the majority of White Democratic can't be stupid enough to vote for someone who espouses the things you are accusing Barack Obama of. Please stop trying to appeal to Black people with your fake sincerity. Vote as you may for whatever reasons you stand for and everyone else will do like wise.
- well i was supporting hilary up until a few weeks ago when i realized how shady she is. i'm not voting for him b/c he's black, but because i think he's a good candidate. and when you think about it, black people have voted for white men who haven't gone through slavery and oppression, so why does it matter that is half black man's ancestors didn't go through it. furthermore, i wouldn't vote for jesse jackson OR al sharpton b/c i don't think they are qualified or even competant enough to holdthe positions they have now.i can only speak for myself when i say i'm not voting for him BECAUSE he's black. if he were asian american i'd vote for him the same. and whether or not he's muslim is irrelevant b/c all muslims are not our enemies in "the war on terror" which by the way is an ATTACK not a war...especiallywhen we're not even attacking the country who attacked us. by the way, your CHALLENGE answer: Maya Angelou is supporting Hilary
- What an ignorant blanket statement!!! Barack Obama is a good man. I don't care where his family is from. HE IS NOT MUSLIM!!! He is Christian. There was even a racial debate about his church (that ignorant conservatives claim is racist) in the media. This church is a Christian church. Why would a Muslim go to a Christian church? How many times have you even heard Obama mention his ethnicity? Skin color means nothing when you're selecting an individual who has to lead us out of the chaos that Bush got us into. Barack Obama '08!!! EDIT: "To those of you who said he is not a Muslim, you are wrong.Barack Obama's Indonesian step-father was a Muslim and was the reason young Barack attended Muslim school and church in Hawai." Now, you covered the fact that his stepfather was Muslim when he was a boy but what about him? My father is a faithful Catholic yet I am not. Just because his stepfather was Muslim doesn't mean he was then OR is today. His mother and grandparents are the ones who raised him. So just because someone's step-parents are of a particular religion, that automatically means that the person is also? Do you know how stupid you sound? Barack Obama is like 46 years old. I'm sure he's not picking his religious affiliations from his step-father who happened to be Muslim when he was young. Don't tell me that his father or step-father was Muslim anymore. I don't care. Give me some proof that Obama himself is Muslim (which I still won't care) and then I'll listen. And oh yeah it's Hawaii not "Hawai" buddy.
- lol the people on this site are idiots, don't waste your breath. They spend hours and hours arguing about the same old stuff over and over again. Take you question to a board that actually has some intelligent posters on it.
