Why do males in general not want to have a female as President of the USA?
Polls show that the primary factor in the Obama/Clinton fight is the male vote. It comes down to this: Clinton is a woman and Obama is a man. There's a double standard. John McCain was asked how he would "beat the B-tch." Had the question been how he would "beat the black B-stard," McCain no doubt would have castigated the individual. And countless hours of air time on the media would have been devoted to the question. When Hillary Clinton appeared at a public meeting, someone yelled out "Iron my shirts!" The media and their spokepersons merely laughed it off. How differently they would have responded had someone yelled out at an Obama meeting, "Shine my shoes, Boy!" And of course, there has been the recent attack that Hillary has been "pimping" out her daughter Chelsea. Only 8 of the Fortune 500 CEOs are women, even though about half of the work force is female. There's a Queen of England, but the USA seems stuck in the 1950s mentality. Different opinions? Please do not attack the messenger. These polls were conducted by CNN and Time and were statistically validated. The same CNN and Time polls also showed that female voters were far more balanced in their voting between Obama and Clinton. I find it fascinating that my question has brought out the very hostility against women that I was seeking illumination about. So please refrain from making misogynistic comments or in a more "sophisticated vein" trying to take the tact that "I'm not against a woman for President--not just this woman," unless you have something specific vis-a-vis Obama's positions/actions you'd like to offer. Thanks in advance.

- Because women cry in public. I don't need a crying president.
- I don't really mind having a woman, the only thing I'm uncertain about is what she can do for this country.
- Speaking for myself, I can't make my own cookies and tea.
- polls also so they want a women beacuse she a women. I wouldnt never mind voting for a women. If she was the best in my mind in the conuntry. She is not i dont like her. she flip flop her plans wont get pass. she lies. she attacks. too manny things about her i cant stand.
- I don't want Hillary! I don't think it's that we don't want a woman. We just don't like Hillary Clinton!
- I personally would not have a problem with a female as President, but it would need to be the right woman and one I could have confidence in, Hillary is not that woman.
- Because they control all other aspects of your lives. Just leave us this one thing ok ladies ;-)
- Males are the head of most house holds so if you look at it why shouldn't a male be the head of the country
- The Iron my Shirts crew was a Clinton plant. The perps were a Boston FM radio crew who are big Hillary supporters. You cite that the exit polls say that most men voted against Hillary. You jump to the conclusion that it is because she is a woman. Maybe it is because they don't like her or her policies. You cannot prove a corellation and your hypothesis is highly suspect. A woman asked a question of Hillary and referred to Bush as that bast**d. Does this mean that she hates men? Since Hillary didn't chastise her does this mean that Hillary hates men? I fail to see how using the word pimping is sexist. Anymore than an official calling a woman a bit** is somehow racist. You're grasping for straws. Focus on the fact that a barely qualified woman and man are vying for the democratic nomination.
- Your question is misleading, incorrect, and insulting to many men who simply don't care about the gender of our president. People are being inspired by Obama. And the reasons for voting for him vary greatly. They're NOT voting against Clinton because she's a woman, perhaps they're voting for Obama simply because they like him.
- Most of us males really have no particular objection to a female president. Our objections lie with Hillary in particular. FYI.....the most vocal opponents to Hillary around here where I live, are, without exception, female. The logic that it is time for a female president and "therefore we must vote for Hillary" is entirely flawed. Voting for Hillary merely because she is female is the epitome of stupidity. She is either qualified, and the best candidate, or not. (I happen to think not, but that's just my opinion.)
- You're right. But you won't get anyone here admitting there is sexism afoot. On the other hand, you will see a big cry of racism if anything in opposition is attached to Obama. Obama is painting himself as a male feminist.
- I can't help but think that some of the animosity towards Hillary is because she is a strong, smart woman. One of my friends (an educated, successful older man) told me he could not bring himself to vote for Hillary because he could not imagine being married to her. A lot of men are not comfortable with a strong woman in a leadership position. This is why she is so popular with women over 50. They know what it's like to be marginalized. On the flip side, a lot of women are still mad at her for not leaving Bill when she was publicly humiliated by his actions.
- Men go Obama by 4%, woman go 12% Clintion...
- I do not think its males in general who dont want a female president. Its WHO is the female candidate- Hillary. Hillary is conniving, she is a liar, she is a carpetbagger and cant be trusted. Her personality changes like the wind you never know what you will get and her politics are very socialistic. Now, put another female candidate that men are comfortable with, I do not believe its the gender, its the person who is the issue.
- I don't think it's true that men don't want a woman. I would love to have a woman president, but not Hillary. A female version of Obama would be great! I don't want a president who panders to special interests and wants to impose control on my personal life. And I wouldn't want a feminazi type woman. But women make good leaders, and the right woman would get my vote any day!
- The Clinton's will not take responsibiltity for anything, not even losing the nomination. First blacks were the problem, and now it's men. What a crock.
- I have nothing against Hillary. I just don't like the whole legacy thing. We've already done that with George W. Bush. Look where that got us. I don't want a presidential candidate "force-fed" to me. Talk-radio predicted that Hillary would run for an open senate seat and then the presidency back in '98 and '99. I just don't like the idea that just because she's wife of Bill Clinton (whom I like and admire) that she should get to be president also. It insults my intelligence. I resent political machines.
- 1. the world has been ruled by men since the beginning of time. 2. all the world's religious leaders throughout time are and have been men. 3. all the religious books have earmarked women as second class citizens, including the Bible (obey your husband). 4. name me one country on this planet where women have equal rights. Not even here in America. Did you know that in the USA a man can get a divorce if his wife does not have sex with him BUT a woman cannot get a divorce if her husband does not have sex with her? 5. This just is the way the world is = sexist. 6. Women are emotional, and this does not sit well with men voting for a leader.
- That would complete the Feminization of this country. Her Husband De-Balled the Military and now he is Shoving that C***(That he won't touch himself)down our throat to rub it in.Truly Un American.
- Hmm, I'm not sure where you get your statistics, but...Of the 8 males I have asked (my friends), ALL of them have said pretty much the exact same thing that my boyfriend said about it... "I won't vote for Hillary...Not because she's female...But, because she's Hillary..."
- Because men think with their dicks. If Hillary was a play boy model then all the guys would vote for her. Unfortunately Hillary isn't deemed pretty enough by men so they'd rather vote for a guy.
- Ralph, I asked almost this same question yesterday, and I was shocked by some of the responses that I got. All in all there really are a lot of pepole who don't want a woman for President.....even some women. For the people who find issue, particularly w/ Clinton you see the following: -They refer to her by her 1st name. No one refers to Barack or John or Mike, etc. -If she shows emotion (sad/happy/mad, whatever) it is negative headline news. When Obama is mad, Bush cries or McCain is victorious they are driven, sensitive and justifiably pleased. -Because she is seeking leadership of our nation, she is alternately portrayed as power hungry, only doing it to get her husband back in, or pursuing the presidency for devious reason like lining her pocket book. Obama, McClain and male candidates are perceived as running for office because of a life long need to fulfill civic responsibility and public service. -If Hillary defends her daughter, she is being hysterical and unreasonable. If Obama defended his girls, he would, no doubt, be considered a doting papa....to be admired. We could go on, but I think you get my point. Many responses that I read yesterday included women. The iron my shirts crowd make me wonder that I am living in 2008...and you are correct in your statement in regard to shine my shoes, boy....the country would be outraged, as they should..... ....it is an outrage that no one in the US is outraged at these attitudes toward a woman...and even more of an outrage that everyone is comfortable with it.
- what man in his right mind would vote for a woman.
- I personally have no problem with a woman president if she were qualified. That's the thing, Hillary is not qualified and therefore should not be president.
- As well as a Queen in England there has also been a female prime minister, Margaret Thatcher. Other countries also have a history of female leaders. It seems the US just isn't ready yet.
