Why does everyone believe MItt romney and Huck are tough on Immigration?

mitt romney -has new illegal cutting his grass every week huckabee - gave social benefits to them as governor I didnt mention mccain or giuliani because everybody already knows they are soft - the only repub left on this is Ron Paul with a very consistent record against amnesty or any social benefits being they are Illegal-just curious why people think huck and romney are tough on this issue - is it because a month ago they said they were during a debate ? what is it please enlighten me ? that is not correct he voted no to give illegals ss benefits and voted yes on the fence - he wants to end birthright citizenship for illegal aliens also -where do you come up with this stuff I asked about romney and huckabee and you attack paul (incorrectly I might add) .typical response you cant defend your candidate but then you lie about mine . the above rant was at mcsweeney - now for tough guy -huckabees past record in no way supports what he is saying -he is very soft if you look at his past Paper mage you are right but that change (amendment was added during the civil war so that blacks and future generations would be considered citizens - it is no longer necessary being the war is over and the constitution should be restored

  1. actually you are wrong. Paul used to be very lenient on immigration. Just look at his record and the original libertarian party opinion. I trust romney will do something.
  2. If Ron Paul was the Republican candidate I would vote for Hillary Obama or a monkey, this is how much I dislike his ideas. He may be a terrific person, but has convinced me of nothing. He whines to much. Social Security benefits are for retirees only, don't get injured on the job. You will find the money you paid into SS is gone. I found this one out the hard way. If I had someone come work for me I would not ask to see credentials and neither would Ron Paul. You are just asking for the ACLU to breath down you neck. That is called discrimination.
  3. Huckabee opposes amnesty you idiot. Get your facts straight.
  4. All of the Republican candidates talk tough on immigration, but the reality is that none of them will do much about it, first of all, because the problem is very difficult to solve, and second of all, because many businesses benefit from illegal immigration, and they are frequently Republicans. If there was no supply of cheap immigrant labor, it is hard to imagine who would pick the fruit, wash the dishes, mow the lawns, and take care of the children.
  5. I don't believe Romney takes a hard line approach, which is what we need. I agree with Ron Paul's consistency. All one has to do is look at where Romney stands on the issue. Romney was pathetic when this was put to him. He said he didn't know they were illegal, then said it was the contractor's fault. Give me a break. Huckbee is against amnesty. Paul takes the hardest line.
  6. I already don't trust HUCKABEE or MCCAIN on this issue; if elected, either one will throw up his hands in despair, and say, "There are simply TOO many to deport; deportation breaks up families, and we wouldn't want to do that, would we? We'll give them an amnesty THIS time, but after this, no more amnesties!" I don't blame ROMNEY for using landscape companies that happen to hire illegals: that's like going to a restaurant and not eating the food because the cook/waiters are illegal. You go with the situation you find, but you don't have to approve of it, or like it. Once he's in power I would expect him to keep his word on the subject (but I WON'T hold my breath) and enforce the current federal immigration laws, withhold fed funds from sanctuary cities/states, and step aside as the illegals leave in droves. But who knows if he has the political will for such. }
  7. I know that huckabee isn't tough on immigration. He even said in his book that they shouldn't break our laws so we need to change our laws so they will no longer break them. He protected and rewarded illegals while he was gov of AR. He is a supporter of amnesty, he calls it a path to citizenship but it IS amnesty. http://blog.washingtonpost.com/fact-checker/2007/12/pinocchios_for_huckabee_on_ill.html http://www.theconservativevoice.com/article/29678.html Mitt, on the other hand, will be tough on immigration. Tom Tancredo is endorsing Mitt BECAUSE he knows that Romney will be strong against amnesty. The excuse to not support Romney because the company he hired to do his landscaping happened to hire illegals is a stupid one. When you hire a company to do something for you do you actually interview each person they have working for them to make sure the workers are legal? I had a new roof put on my house. I hired a local company to do it. They had employees they sent to my home to work. I didn't go outside and interview each of the workers to make sure that they were legal. It wasnt my job to or my responsiblity to do that. It was the responsibility of the owner of the company I hired to do it and not mine. Using the landscaper excuse shows your bias against Romney. McCain is for amnesty. He even authored an amnesty bill in the senate. Ron Paul has some good ideas and also some crazy ones. He has no leadership experience and should work in the legislature to write laws and see which ones he can get passed. So far I haven't heard of any legislation he has proposed to do the things that he says he wants to do as president.
  8. Rooster, how can Ron Paul be against "birthright citizenship" and still claim to defend the Constitution? The Constitution states that anyone born on American soil is an American citizen. He'd have to Amend the Constitution to change that. Has he presented such a proposal? As for the cheap shot at Mitt Romney, I'm not surprised at all that you're one for beating a dead horse. When you go for gas, do you ask the cashier if he's in the country legally before filling your tank? Romney hired a contractor who lied about having illegal workers. When he learned about it, he gave the contractor another chance. That's what Christians call "forgiveness", if I'm not mistaken. But when the contractor kept hiring illegals, Romney fired him.
  9. How would you know who is cutting Romney lawn...unless you are the illegal cutting it.....
