Even if Mitt Romney is a mormon....?
because he is a mormon & "supposedly believes in a different God"...does this affect how he will act as President? Is there suddenly a God 1 and a God 2. There are some major differences but don't Mormons have the same ideas in a sense of trying to get back to heaven? Romney seems to be the only candidate that really has his religion talked about.I think because of this people should truly try to learn about it....such as going to the lds.org website where it is not just peoples opinions. I would find this the smartest thing to do with anyones religion. & if you research on Wikipedia it talks about polygamy being banned in his religion. Are people really so illiterate they still have not read this? I just think this should have nothing to do with him running for president. Candidates should be viewed not on their religion but themselves. & personally it is not "selling religion". No one is forced into it. Many are grateful for the opportunity....others say no thanks. They have a choice. This does not mean Romney will make everyone be a Mormon nor could he.

- I don't care what religion someone follows as long as they leave it at the back door when doing what is right for this country, and that is to follow the Constitution.
- But you have to be a little concerned about someone who is willing to go door-to-door to try to sell his religion to everyone and anyone. Not that his religion matters as far as being the president, but think about the kind of overly-zealous personality he must have.
- He left his religion behind as governor of Mass but he still destroyed their economy.
- I think that worrying about a candidates race, sex, religion and marital status should become a thing of the past. Although the United States was at war with the Mormons off and on from 1857-1890, we were also at war with the Confederacy 1860-1865. Some people were also wrongly worried about John F Kennedy being Catholic and beholden to the pope (technically a foreign head of state). But I'm much more worried about Romney being a "lets give tax-concessions to my friends in big-business" guy than a "Pureblooded decendants of white Mormons are the only ones going to heaven" guy. I'd like to see him defeated on the issues. I think John McCain is the only viable Republican candidate.
- I'm an evangelical christian and have no problem with Romney whatsoever, however, many evangelicals do. I realize there are some odd mormon beliefs but look at this man's family. He has never been divorced, all his kids have stuck by him and campaign for him, and all his kids have done well in life. This shows me that he has good family values. Also, a man of any faith is automatically bound by certain moral restrictions. In other words, it means that there are consequences for every action and one day, you will have to answer for the things you have done. So I like that he is a religious man. What I like more is that he is a genius and knows the ins and outs of our economy, also he will put a stop to the flow of illegals. He definitely has my vote!
- I know that. I have three fantastic, supportive Mormon friends. They have tried to convert me a million times, however, so I understand Mormonism fairly well. I think that any candidate who believes in the literal truth of the Bible, the Book of Mormon, or the novels of Jane Austen is probably too gullible to be president. However, since no candidate is going to run as an atheist, I pick the candidate is I think is most likely to stand firmly for the separation of Church and State. Suddenly God 1 and God 2...chuckle...did you really think that Christianity was the only religion?
- Apperently you people know very little if anything about the mormon religion. Study up before you spout stupidity please. This form of racism sits just fine with people I guess. Minorities should be sprinting to this guys defense. ACLU where are you?
- I don't have a problem with his being Mormon. He is no worse than those who profess to be such great Christians & yet have done very un-Christian things while being in office! He can not be any worse than a person who vows to change the Constitution of this country to read according to their beliefs! Separation of Church & State!
- Any Christian who has no problem with Romney's Mormonism should also have no problem with a Muslim Candidate. In fact, the Muslim faith is less anti-Christian than Mormonism is. Don't believe me? Investigate for yourself. Check and see just what Mormons really do believe. Oh, and as for his character... how many lies has he been caught in now?
- The only way to attack him is to falsely impugn his religion, and to falsely accuse him of flip flopping. His Moral character is absolutely beyond question. A match up between Hillary and Romney will be a stark contrasting study between good and evil.
- Are we voting for a President or a sunday school teacher. It's amazing how many people vocally say "I don't believe in discrimination" and in the next breath say "I'm not voting for Romney because he's a Mormon". Hypocrites at their best.
- religion, gender or race should never be part of the decision of president! The God that Romney believes in is no different that the God any other Christian believes in!
