What about John McCain on Global warning?
John McCain tries to smooth over why he favors a costly global warming law when he says he has faith that American technology can undo the damages his legislation will cause to American taxpayers and American industry. This means changing food into fuel for our cars.(corn into Bio-diesel). Is this even moral when so much of the world is starving? His way is ignoring that China and India are the biggest polluters in the world and putting all responsibility on America. Then he says if were wrong it won't matter. Millions of dollars wasted, matters A huge new climate bureaucracy to tax us into the having to walk to work matters. Jobs moving to China matters. Chasing junk science matters. Doesn't the money I pay in taxes matter to Washington politicans anymore. Maybe that's a sigh most of them should retire, not lead the country.

- He is a liberal. What else needs to be said?
- Hellow.
- John McCain is very good on global warming, which is very annoying for his corporatist associates in his party. They put their own short term profits ahead of the long term benefits to the planet.
- A guy created a battery that practically has unlimited energy. It feeds off radio frequency waves. Why isn't the government using this technology? Probably because then corporations can't make money by coming out with the latest energizer bunny battery.
- Oh, so does he want to get the Nobel Prize for Peace too? And no. Neither India nor China ever used depleted uranium and other causes of global warming. So they are not as big polluters as the US.
- I don't think the Nobel Prize committee considers it "junk science" when they award a prize, as they are the primary world body for the recognition of scientific achievement. ! Despite the fact that developing countries are the greater polluters at present, we had a couple centuries head start on over-use of fossil fuels, so maybe now is the time to face the music ! A loss of jobs need not result from our attacking this problem with "great vigor", in fact, it's a chance for America to regain thousands of lost manufaturing jobs, as well as a time to resume our scientific leadership in the world, both by developing the fuels and enegy sources to free the world from petroleum addiction. Your tax dollars will be much better spent by whoever wins the coming election, than they have been used in the previous 8 years, so take heart, engage brain, and vote Democratic !!
- McCain doesn't know what he is talking about when it comes to global warming. And--although II agree that the bo-fuel provision in the recent law is a bad policy--neither do you. No offense, but you've bought into the myth created by the oil and coal companies that "doing anything about CO2 emissions will hurt the economy, " "hurt the taxpayer," " we'll have to walk to work," etc. Stop and THINK, dammit!. Here's some pointers (by no means a complete list): a)compact flouresecent bulbs" cost a bit more to buy--but last far longer--and the energy they save is money in YOUR pocket. b)fuel efficient cars in a few years will use 30-50 % less gas--and the cars aren't going to cost any more, unless you jsut want to get a high-end version. That 's more money in YOUR pocket. c) wind power is cheaper than coal or oil for producing electricity--and in another 5-10 years solar will be as well. That's money in YOUR pocket d) Electric cars are practical now--and a volume market will make them as cheap as gas-powered cars. And they cost a lot less to maintainand operate. That's more money in YOUR pocket. e) modern nuclear technology is safe--and produces electricity cheaper than coal powerplants. That's more money in YOUR pocket. f) increased mass transit is cheaper-for those who want to use it. And it custs traffic congestion and highway costs. Either way--that's more money in YOUR pocket. Sure--all this will cost a lot of money. But if you stop and think--it's NOT jsut "spending money." lookat every one of those things: they promote new investment, create new industries, and new jobs--in short, economic growth. And the money consumers save will then be spent on other goods and services--also promoting economic growth. Biofuels are not going to be a big part of that--you cited one of the reasns. You're right about that. But THINK--quit letting the special interests brainwash you.
- 40 cents a gallon raise on gas and oil to fund unsubstantiated science on global warming. Good Grief.
