If Mitt Romney becomes president do you think Mormonism will become more accepted?

Public Comments

  1. Especially, gay Mormons with Islamic names. Good luck!
  2. No. I think when people start hearing what Moromonism really is....they will start to think how crazy it is.
  3. NO WAY
  4. No.
  5. hopefully not! but he wont be elected so we wont worry about that ok
  6. I think, rather I Know, that a lot of evangelicals won't vote for him for that very reason. Evangelicals, most of them, believe that anyone baptized into the LDS Church are automatically disqualified from entering the Kingdom of Heaven. They like Mitt Romney, but they're afraid that if he's elected, then more people will become Mormons and therefore not reach Heaven. It's a load of crap, of course, but plenty of evangelicals over the last year have come out and said just that.
  7. He is going to make it popular, but no one will convert into it, if they have strong feelings against this religion.
  8. I have already purchased stock in the Sacred Garment Company.
  9. Hopefully they will go back to the founding religious fathers beliefs and we can make poligamy legal again One to clean and cook the rest to make money to feed the lifestyle I always wanted LOL
  10. Possibly. It's a crazy cult in my opinion...but then again so is most religion.
  11. no. The fact that the president is of a certain faith won't help anyone much.
  12. No, i really don't feel it will make much of a difference.
  13. First of all, I know he's not running as a mormon, he's running as an american who happens to be mormon. Let me ask has mormonism become more popular because harry reid became senator in nevada. No, People who beleave the lds message will continue to join as they alwalys have, and those who dont beleave it, wont, it really doesn't matter the religion of the president
  14. I think it will be more accepted, but not necessarily have people flock to it. Those who have been indoctrinated into believing it is evil, might take a second look at it, realize they have been lied about its members, but look just to agree to disagree, instead of harboring so much animosity towards the Church, (which doing such is very un-Christlike). BTW, more Evangelicals voted for Romney over Huckabee in NH, MI, and NV. There are many Evangelicals that will vote for Romney, and more will vote for him once they realize the choice is between him and Shrillery.
  15. No offense to either Religions but I think most people with the exception of the State of Utah view Mormons the same way they view Jehovia's Witnesses.
  16. If he wins the nomination, moronism will get the notoriety it deserves. And Mitt will have to answer some tough questions about that silly cult.
  17. It's already more accepted than you might think. Except for the pairs of boys who sneak around by all dressing alike and wearing name tags identifying themselves as Mormons, you don't generally know who is a Mormon. Of course, if you pay attention, they tend to have pretty strong families and be concerned about their neighbors, so they do give themselves away with that kind of seditious behavior. Personally, I don't believe much of the scriptural part of Mormonism, but every one of them I've met has been honest, generous, and hardworking and family oriented. I doubt if Romney getting elected is going to have them "coming out of the closet" though, and announcing to everyone that they've been Mormons all along, as if that would change anything for anyone. Mormons aren't going to change, and other people aren't likely to learn anything about them that they don't already know.
  18. Think about this - What is GW Bush's religion? What was Clinton or Ford or Carter's religion. It really doesn't matter what religion a person is - if they uphold the offices of the president as written in our constitution and our laws. By the way - if Bill Clinton did have sex while president - did he break any US laws? Nope - only his relgious laws were broken. (Unless you consider he forced someone through his official position thus being subject to sexual harrasment) So ask this - if someone is married to a person who is religiously immoral - how does that reflect on the person? The media will be more interested in Mitt Romney's running of the country - rather than his personal beliefs. Will those beliefs affect his job - yes - but if you look at his history - he has done very well with running budgets, organizations and dealing with other people. Who would you rather deal with - a person who has strong beliefs to treat people fairly - or someone who would do anything and say anything just to be elected - like stay in a sham marriage just for political gain.
  19. That would be nice since no group of good citizens should be discriminated against but probably won't happen just because of a President Romney. White men are discriminated against in the work place, blacks have to work harder to prove themselves in many cases, sex is a factor in Presidential elections, and the various Christian religions have had war declared on them by the government and liberals without any reason other then that they have a preferred lifestyle that is different then liberals and vocally promote it. No, too many things are still imbedded for one person to do any more then take a chink out of the armour.
