Mitt Romney and Rudy Guiliani?
I've got some questions about his background. 1. What party is he in? Democrats or Republicans? 2. What religion is Mitt Romney? 3. Mitt Romney is regarded as _____ for his position on abortion. 4. What's one of the issues that makes people question Rudy Guiliani as president? 5. Where does Rudy Guiliani stand in the polls?
Public Comments
- 1. Both Repub 2. Mormon, but really this is a pointless question and his religion is being broadcast by others in order to tap into people's negative feelings about Mormons. 3. Mitt Romney's is human for his position on abortion since a president really has little influence over the issue. 4. Irrational hatred of Republicans in general without regard for platform or qualifications. 5. Not sure. It varies from poll to poll, he does better out East.
- 1, Both are Republicans 2. Mormon 3. A "flip flopper" 4. Lack of experience especially foreign affairs 5. Most polls show him leading at the moment.
- A lot of people have questions about Giuliani for a lot of reasons. Here are some points: 1) before he was mayor of New York, he was a federal prosecutor, who tried several high-profile white-collar cases in the 1980s, such as Michael Milken and Ivan Boesky. Some critics have seen these prosecutions as grandstanding, and they may have helped inspired the prosecutorial characters in the novel "Bonfire of the Vanities" by Tom Wolfe. 2) preparedness before 9/11. The Fire Dept. and Police Dept. communications systems were incompatible and this caused a lack of co-ordination on that terrible day. Giuliani has taken some heat for this, although whether he deserves it I make no judgment. 3) some "socially liberal" positions are controversial with the Republican primary voters, Giuliani for example enforced New York City's strict gun control laws. 4) some of his associates, such as Bernie Kerik, have had legal problems of their own in ways that have spilled onto Rudy's apron. 5) most recently, there's an accusation about illicit expense reports. I'll include a link below that says something more about these last two points.
