Mitt Romney?

In his Michigan victory speech, Mitt Romney continued to praise and idolize Ronald Reagan and George H. W. Bush. Why dosen't he ever mention the current Republican president - George W. Bush? In fact, why don't any of the Republican candidates ever mention George Bush? Do they not think he is important even though he is the sitting President of the United States and he embodies their political beliefs?

Public Comments

  1. Goerge W. is a disgrace to the Republican party. They are all secretly embarrased of him.
  2. Mitt Romney is also secretly a robot.
  3. Because GW is not popular, so there is no advantage to hanging on to his coat tails.
  4. Because President's Bush's approval rating is at 34%. That's pretty bad. Romney doesn't mention him very much because he won't get elected if he talks very positively about him because a majority of voters disagree with the current administration and he will alienate those voters. Also, most of the candidates are running on the promise of change. If Romney talks up President Bush and then says that we need change, then his message becomes unclear. Voters will be asking whether or not he really wants change, or whether he will continue in the footsteps of the current administration.
  5. Mitt Romney called Obama "Osama" " " said his father marched with MLK, when caught in a lie a few days later he meant it was "figuratively" not "literally" After Obama won Iowa, Mitt Romney mentioned change more than Obama himself He wont stand a chance against a democrat since he doesn't cross party lines unlike McCain and Huckabee, they simply have more turnout so Republicans would do Dems a favor if he is to be nominated. Bush is unpopular so u dont side with him, I mean how can you suggest that he would side with Bush, 29%(Bush supporting voters) will not help him get elected so Herbert Walker & Reagan are safer bets.
  6. There have been some things that George W. Bush has done that have been very unpopular so candidates (like Romney) are trying to distance themselves from him. In general I like George W. Bush, and I credit him for America NOT being attacked again after 9/11, but I was very disappointed that he supported amnesty for illegal immigrants, that he has not taken the side of our soldiers when they have been accused of war crimes (he could at least say that they are innocent until proven guilty), and he has not pardoned Ramos and Compean - the two Border Patrol agents that our own country prosecuted for doing their jobs. I don't think that many of the Republican candidates - including Romney - feel that George W. embodies all of their political beliefs.
  7. I think the biggest reason for this, is the fact that liberals continue to bad mouth George H. W. Bush no matter how good of a job he does. So rather than keep giving the Democrats ammo I think Republicans just keep his name out of the debates. Our current President has been a very good president, I think that any good president in his situation would have had to go to war. But the Democrats continue to say that it was all done wrong. The funniest part about them is they say it was all done wrong but they will never stick out their necks and say how they would have done it.
