Why the primary is just as important as the election.?

In my opinion the democratic primary is just as important as the election. If Barack wins the primary against Hillary, I can't see him beating out a republican for the election. There are too many racist people in the United States to vote for a black person as the president. I think that the situation would be completely different if Hillary won the primary. If Hillary wins the primary, I can't see a republican winning the election over her. There are too many supporters of the Clinton family in the United States. I don't she would lose the election to one of the republican candidates. Does anyone agree with me? Imo, the democrats should vote for Hillary to win the primary if they want to win the election.

  1. Your opinion needs a moist wipe.
  2. Totally agree with you on the race issue. I also see that the Democratic party will have a tough time deciding on who to nominate, and for one reason only: It will be the first......If Obama should happen to win the presidency, then he'll be the first black person. If Hillary should win the presidency, she'll be the first woman. So, yes, it's a tough decision. I also agree with you on the Clinton family support. I know a lot of people who see the Clintons as a great family with great power.
  3. i agree with you but it is way too early for any one to start saying who is or who isn't going to be president and as for the primaries they really don't mean a thing. they put way too much influences on the American voter who cant think for themselves. the American people are going to have to look for the issues and what they stand for and pick a candidate.
  4. I actually see it the other way around; Hilary is MUCH more polarizing. Yes there are people who love the Clintons, but there are also many people who HATE them... and would be more motivated to vote against her. I feel like the Republicans are hoping she will be the candidate. Also, a lot of young people and people who don't usually vote love Obama but do not feel excited about Cllnton and if she is the Democratic candidate they may not even vote. I am not going to say there is no racism in USA but it has become a lot less racist than it used to be. After all, remember that Obama won in Iowa which has only a tiny percent of African Americans, and he was very close in NH which is also very white. (OK, Iowa's not Mississipi but MS would go Republican anyway. In the swing states maybe he has a chance.
  5. Just speaking for myself, I like to vote for the person I think will be the best president -- even if others feel that the person doesn't stand a chance. I let those in the party organizational structure worry about what strategies to use, so that a member of their own party will get elected.
  6. Well if the primaries go poorly, and the uneducated get their say then the election will once again be the 'lesser of 2 evils', like Giuliani vs Hillary, who are both as corrupt and dodgy as you can get. But if the people make a stand then somebody good like Ron Paul may get the nomination and take the US in a new direction, if he won the primary, everyone would hear his message and nobody on the democrat side (Obama or Hillary) would have the slightest of chances!
  7. 1. hi russo 2. also keep in mind that barack obama hasn't held office for long, so many people are going to see this as inexperienced and people are gonna say "how can someone lead our country if he himself hasnt had prior experience" thats just how most will think. and yes, also the race issue. Barack will get torn apart in shreds in the south because he is black, and most of our presidents have come from the south. Your right, hilary seems to be the smart choice for the democrats because shes got the support in that her husband was president and that makes her have experience in office because, as you know, many first ladys have used there time in office to help (elenor roosevelt strikes me at this moment). so yea its all one big hoopla, but i see her being the strong candidate in the democrats, barack and edwards is a close call.
