There is one individual in the forum that likes to ask this question.?

if you are so for the war why aren't you fighting?.....is it hypercritical to support the war and not fight in the war? Last week we got another glimpse of the Left’s true feelings about our troops. At a campaign breakfast in Iowa, anti-war Daily Kos diarist Rachel Griffiths asked Mitt Romney why none of his five sons enlisted in the military. It’s a popular form of “gotcha” that the Left likes to play in order to bring out their favorite cat call – Hypocrite! Romney responded, “My sons are all adults and they’ve made decisions about their careers and they’ve chosen not to serve in the military and active duty and I respect their decision in that regard. One of the ways my sons are showing support for our nation is helping me get elected because they think I’d be a great president.” http://www.townhall.com/columnists/LisaDePasquale/2007/08/15/are_we_hypocrites_for_not_enlisting lipsticker...I'm with you brother....thanks for your service to our country..... Just to end any confusion on this...I do not think that it is hypocritical to support the war yet not be fighting in it...this has been shoved in my face though from people in this forum and also in my personal life....and I just wanted to get your thoughts on this...especially from those who do support the war... Scottjones....so what you are saying is that Romney should force his kids to join??>...are they not adults?? I don't think he could make them even if he wanted to...so your point is meaningless. hopeful for change....I"ve NEVER seen a republican say this...all most republicans ask for is to not make idiotic statements such as "the war is lost" on world wide media so the enemy can hear and be emboldened...is that too much to ask??? patriotwww...I disagree..if you MUST lablel the brave men and women in our military I would have to say mostly middle to upper middle class.....what a shame to lable these patriots...

  1. Wow, surprising that your source is republican biased.
  2. What's your point?
  3. That has NOTHING to do with how anyone feels about the troops... It seems to be more of a personal question directed at Romney.
  4. Well I guess they feel that 8-80 blind, deaf and crazy should be in the military if they are for the completion of the war. I guess they also figured I should have stayed in until I was 50 or until the war is done. Unfortunately for me, the military has rules about how long you can stay, no matter if we are at war or not. Retired Marine! 49 years old.
  5. War should always be a sacrifice, otherwise it could go on endlessly. We have not paid as a country this war. Until we give up some luxury or comfort there is no incentive. Romney only believes in this war as long as his kids are not fighting. Shame that some Republicans (not me) aren't willing to put their money where their mouths are.
  6. I hate when they ask someone who supporting the war why their kids aren't in the military. Since when does some have control over what their adult children do? Thats like asking Al Gore if he runs for president why if he is against drugs his kid is a druggie. A more valid question would be to a politician why you never enlisted, rather than why their kids don't.
  7. Liberals don't understand the concept of individuals. They believe that some people own others and determine what they shoulld do. This is why liberals want to bring back the draft.
  8. That's really lame................................
  9. What you are hearing is more frustration more than not supporting the troops. Let's face it, most recruits are from impoverished neighborhoods and lower income areas. These are the guys that volunteer! What are they politically, I really don't care! There just seems to be an imbalance of the wealthy not participating in the so called war in Iraq.
  10. I don't care one way or another what Romney's sons do. It certainly has no impact on me either way, considering I'm not voting for him. There is many a Republican who asks that same question, to prove if liberals or Democrats are "sincere" in their support of the troops. Amazing how you "forgot" to point that out as well.
  11. That is the most egotistical statement you ever heard from a candidate? My god, I read that and I couldn't believe what I was reading. The funny thing is that Romney confuses his sons serving him with that of serving the country!!!! What an egomaniac and another neo-con who thinks serving himself is serving the country and constitution. We don't need any more of these people running our country into the ground.
  12. Its just a completely irrational argument that really shows the desperation of the left to impune anyone that doesnt agree with them. Thats like saying someone cannot possibly support democracy and oppose things like totalitarianism, naziism, or communism if they arent willing to become politicians and actively live democracy. We dont all have to physically participate to show our appreciation for our troops and support of the mission. Thats why we all pay taxes and have such a thing as volunteer army because its a different type of life that isnt for everyone. Does that mean I wouldnt be willing to die to save my countrymen or family? No. Under that logic then, nobody is who qualified or meets the requirements for service isnt fit to support the war because theyre not able to fight in it? To them, that would be like someone trying to dispense advanced medical advice when they arent a doctor. artgurrl>You consider it evil to have the support of your children? Gee your family sounds nice.
