How is Mitt Romney as a pro-war Con going to explain why his 5 sons are not serving in the military?

Will that help him with the nomination?

Public Comments

  1. They are following the example set by the President who was unbable to serve in the National guard because he had to help a Republican get elected.
  2. He doesn't have to explain anything for his ADULT sons.
  3. Perhaps because he gave them the choice? No, it won't help, and it will hurt. Children learn their values from their parents, in most cases.
  4. What part of all-volunteer military don't you understand?
  5. Will it help him if he explained this? I don't think so..........
  6. I think he believes that serving in the military should be a choice. His sons have chosen not to do so. I don't think Al Gore believes it's okay to drink and drive, yet his son engages in this behavior. You can't judge a man based on their children's choices just because you don't like their politics.
  7. No one gets the ALL VOLUNTEER FORCE concept. If there was a draft, and he let his kids dodge out of it, it would hurt him badly. But, with the AVF, who cares? I thought that was the whole point. His kids didn't want to join. I wouldn't have wanted them there if they didn't, and were forced to. Hillary Clinton voted authorization for the war, and Bill attacked Iraq with cruise missiles and sent lots of my friends to Bosnia, yet Chelsea was never in the military. Your arguement is foolish.
  8. He'll use the "no gays in the military" excuse!
  9. I dunno. I wonder about some things too, like why those lefties who think Cuba is the greatest place on earth never seem to move down there.
  10. It's all about politics!
  11. Why should he have to explain anything? It is still a volunteer military. They are adults and have the right to make the choice themselves. It kind of goes along with freedom of choice and free speech. You remember, two of the things libs are always complaining about.
  12. I do not see any reason why he needs to explain why his sons opted not to join the military. The military is an all volunteer force. You should ask the other 95% of this country why they did not join the military as well. This country's military is not mandatory. If Romney's sons decided not to join, so be it. Mitt does not need to speak for his sons who can talk for themselves.
  13. because his son's don't want to
  14. remeber that old saying " You can lead a horse to water, but can't make him drink it". I will be very honest, I would love for my son to be in the military when he grows up but that is just what I want. He will make his own choices and decisions when grows up. I am the first in my family to join the military and I would love to make it a family tradition of serving this great nation.
  15. I do not feel he has any explaining to do. His sons are there own individuals, they have their own minds and make their own decisions. The military is all volunteer, there is not a draft. So it is not like they were supposed to serve and did not. One could make the same argument about candidates who have sons in the military who have never served in Afghanistan or Irag. How did they manage that. Your insinuation is guilt by relation. I would be more upset if a candidate intentionally made their children sign up for the military to gain votes. What about Hilliary who voted for the declaration of action, wheres her Daughter. Not in the military. If Hilliary and her fellow Democrats did not support the declaration of action in congress there would be no war. Is she a pro war candidate. There is enough blame to go around. Not to mention Hillary and her fellow Democrats had a chance to stop the war. They did not have the integrity to cut the purse string which is with in their constitutional authority. Instead they talk and produce no action. Romney at least does what he believe no matter the consequences to his campaign. I can no think of no Democrat hypocrite candidate that can say the same. Romney believes it is better to fight over their, then here in the US. The US should keep it promises to it allies as well as it commitments. I wish the same could be said for Democrats. Democrats only believe what the political polls tell them too. Republicans do what they believe irreguardless of the physical or political ramifications to themselves. Further, Romney is not a pro-war candate. Romney just believes you should finnish what you start, keep your promises to your allies. Peace!!! Love!!! Health!!! Understanding!!!
  16. He won't bother explaining anything. Better yet while a majority of Americans want out of Iraq as fast as possible, how does a pro war stance get him elected?
  17. I don't see Al Gore's sons running out to join...oh that's right Jr. is too busy running a pharmacy out of his Toyota Prius in L.A. The military is all volunteer, Mitt Romney doesn't have to explain anything.
  18. His sons are adults and therefore are entitled to make their own decisions as to whether or not they choose to enter military service.
  19. Because only dumb people fight for israel.
  20. With your line of thinking....why isn't Chelsea Clinton in uniform in Iraq? Her momma voted for the war in Iraq
  21. No, it won't help him. I only hope he doesn't win the nomination. He gives me the creeps!
  22. He's not going to win no republican is going too win this election. They all are losers. He can't put an excuse for his sons not being in the military again it's the rich who stay home during the war time and it's the poor-middle class that are left too defend their country.
  23. who said his sons have to join.do you think a accountant would join a business that is bankrupt.
  24. Last time I checked it was still a democracy in the USA. There is no law that can force his kids to join up. Get used to it.
