Questions related to Mitt Romney?
On Mitt Romney's commercial he says something to the effect that he wants to cut the budget for everything except defense. (If you can quote it better, please do.) Am I the only one that sees this as undesirable? To me, he's basically saying that he will cut funding for things that benefit the citizens of the United States. I prefer good schools, nice highways, and FEMA. And (I'm sure I'm in the minority on this) I would even be in favor of a well-funded welfare system. I'm not a big fan of politics and I don't consider myself conservitave on most issues. Is this thought more appealing to people of the Republican party? Your thoughts please.

- Of course what he said is designed to be more appealling to the Republican Party than to the general electorate. Virtually all Republicans realize that in order to win the PRIMARY and to get NOMINATED BY YOUR PARTY, you have to appeal to the right-wingers. It is likewise the case that in order to win the Democrat Party's nomination, the candidates have to say things that will make them most appealling to the left-wingers. Then, after both party's have their nominees, those nominees struggle to portray themselves as "moderates." As someone once said, the general election contest is one in which an elephant and a donkey struggle to place all eight legs on a thin dime placed exactly on the fifty-yard line, equadistant from both goal posts. Romney's message is not significantly different than Ronald Reagan's message was. Every Republican wants to portray himself as the next Reagan.
- As far as the bloated bureaucracy that run education I agree with him in that it works very poorly. Education doesn't need any more money thrown at it, no time in history have we thrown more money at education with such bad results. Education and other social things would run better if run at a local level. the least amount of hands the money goes through the higher the chances are it will reach where it was inteded to go the kids! Unfortunatley we do need a strong military. Maybe I am stubbron I will always believe in lower taxes less government intrusion into my life and a strong military. The way government works today if it were in charge of the Sahara desert it would run out of sand in 5 years. We've created a monster through our ignorance and apathy. We let them give themselves generous raises every year lol. It is certainly a case of the tail wagging the dog. I like some of what Mr. Paul has to say and his voting record backs up his words. But he won't get the nomination on ideals it's all about the money.
- Mitt Romney is very interesting. He has changed many of his positions to appeal to his party but (I feel) he is still a moderate. I thought he was the Republicans best hope but I found him arrogant in the debates, he was not very Presidential. If he is elected and Hillary runs against him he will change his positions again to pull votes from her. She might pick up on that and mention it.
