Will our next president Mitt Romney, after he wins, have to be rebaptised?

Will our next USA president, Mormon Mitt Romney, after he wins in 2008, have to be rebaptised Christian in order to validly take the oath of the presidency on the George Washington Bible?

  1. not my president
  2. Yeah, we get it. You're voting for him. But according to most polls, he's not going to be our next president. He won't even be the Repulican primary candidate.
  3. Yes, absolutely. Otherwise his filthy hands will emit acid which will soak through the Good Book.
  4. Mitt Romney for president? Are you serious? Bahahaha
  5. If he was to win, no. But we are still a long way from the election.
  6. While many Christians would dispute that Romney is among their number, the Constitution of the US prohibits any religious test for public office. So it matters not one whit what Mitt Romney's religion is.
  7. no, why?
  8. . I don't expect Mitt to win anything. He won't even get through the primaries. http://i209.photobucket.com/albums/bb62/Randall_Fleck/Only_birds_GIF.gif [][][] r u randy [][][] .
  9. Thats a crazy question. Even if he did become president, he shouldn't get baptized because that would be selling out to idiots like you.
  10. It's really pretty much a moot point isn't it??
  11. First and foremost, Romney is unlikley to get caucus much less win. He doesn't do anything. He stands around and smiles. I would ALMOST rather vote for Hillary (shudders). Secondly, I doubt it. Most of our US presidents have been Protestant (JFK being the only exception). There's no reason to think the church would play as a factor.
  12. So are we to force him to be baptized and go against his Constitutional right of Freedom of Religion? BTW Presidents don't swear on George Washington's bible they swear on a family bible.
  13. "Our next president"...hah
  14. ...what does "baptisim" have to do with being the President ? Gods Word clearly says "let your yes be yes and your no be no"... nothing about being Baptized...
  15. There is nothing in the Constitution that says that a person has to swear on the Bible to take the oath of office: Article II, section 1 of the Constitution: "Before he enter on the Execution of his Office, he shall take the following Oath or Affirmation:--"I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will faithfully execute the Office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my Ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States." There's nothing in there about putting his (or her) hand on the Bible - that's a practice that has grown up over the years, but which is not required as part of the oath taking. Often, incoming Presidents will also include the words "so help me God," at the end of their oath, but these words are not required, either.
  16. You must be joking, right? Members of the Church of JESUS CHRIST of Latter-day Saints are christians and believe, read, and follow the bible already.
  17. Mormons believe in the Bible. Romney would have no problem swearing on a Bible. http://www.allaboutmormons.com
