How do you feel about Mitt Romney giving "the Mormon Speech"?

After eleven months of trying to Not make this election about religion, campaigns like Huckabee's and McCain's keep trying to paint themselves as more "Christian" than the others. Now, Romney has to get out there and say "Hey, Mormons are Christians, too", or people are just gonna stay home on primary/caucus days. Do you think Christianity should be an issue? Crossingover? I'm not going to get into point-counterpoint with you about how wrong your answer is. I'll just take this time to point out the two Biggest mistakes you made: one, there is no doctrine, nor has there ever been in our church, about whether Christ was ever married, just the opinions of past and current members; and two, there is no Book of the Law of the Lord used in any of our church services or Sunday School classes. I don't think one even exists. Your other "points" are mostly either distorted or completely bungled. Find some better anti-Mormon sources.

  1. i do think Christianity shouldn't be a issue , but there is some pinheads purposely smearing his beliefs , he tried to keep it out of the campaign but its come down to the speech to try and clear some things up doesn't matter for me I'm still voting Ron Paul for his belief in the country and constitution
  2. His religion is ALREADY becoming an issue...and he's not even in the White House yet. I would like to think that those who run our country have more important things to talk about than their religion. Maybe he could talk about the great things he is going to do for this country...oh yeah...it's easier to talk about his religion.
  3. he shouldn't have to. religion has no place in politics. the religious idiots who think mormons are not christian are the best proof of my statement.
  4. Mormons aren't True Christians Mormons beliefs are: They believe in Gods ( yes plural) They believe if you are a good mormon when you die you become a god and get your own planet. They believe the God of earth was a regular man on another planet and he resides near a star called KOLOB They have special handshakes and secret names so they can find each other after they die. They wear special secret underwear with secret religious symbols sewn into them that protect them from bullets and other bad things. All of the following and more are FACTS and can be researched in the 3 books they have the Book of Mormon, Doctrine and Covenants, and Book of the Law of the Lord. The Bible is the forth book they use and when Mormon beliefs don't agree with the Bible they say that passage was interpreted wrong. P.S. They say that Jesus had multiple wives when he was on earth.
  5. Unfortunately, I think his religion will not help his campaign. It's too bad that the issues are not at the forefront and we dwell on things that are irrelevent.
  6. An issue as to a problem or as to needs to be brought up? Christianity should be an issue that is talked about but shouldn't be an issue as to impair the chances to be elected. Romney is a Mormon, Mormons are Christians, but what people need to understand is that a president doesn't rule the nation on his own and he is limited t what he can or cannot do. Romney will not rule the nation as hardcore religious Christian but as an American man named president.
  7. Ive been on the Romney wagon since day 1,who cares?John mccains campaign has been running on fumes for a while now and hes just trying to stay in the public eye as long as he can.
  8. well his religion wont help his campaign that's for sure GO RUDY !!
  9. I wish we could just focus on the candidates abilities. Unfortunately, religion is forced into the open and becomes as much as a factor, if not more in some cases, than politics. CROSSINGOVER....it is astounding how ignorant you are about LDS (Mormon) beliefs. And how you boldly claim those things to be facts. You are waaaaay off.
  10. I think Baracka Hussein Obama,Jr, the closet Muslim, and friend of the Iranians, should give a"Muslim / Islamic speech", if we are to level the playing field. It is unfortunate that the leftist news media has targeted the Mormon religion, because the Mormon religion is as mainstream as Baptist, Methodist, or Presbyterian. If one wants to target religious faiths, we must remember the 19 (nineteen) terrorists who attacked the United States on 9/11 were all Muslims, and their cowardly and insane acts killed approximately 3000 innocent victims. If Romney is the nominee, I will vote for him.
  11. I think he really wanted to avoid it, but the time has come. And the move is quite smart. The media will be all over this all week. he will get good publicity if he delivers it well. his opponents will attack him and his faith and will dig themselves into a whole.
  12. I haven't ready any of the answers so pardon me if I am being repetitive! I think that religion should not be an aspect of the election. However, I do believe that candidates should express their morals and values. I think we enter the gray zone when people completely tie in religion with moral standards. Does that make sense? P.S. How do you feel about the Church's stance on Rudy Giuliani and his "pro-life" views?
  13. Like it or not, the percentage of people in the US unwilling to vote for a Mormon is hovering around 43%, and the unsure part adds another 19%. Thus, it is unequivocally a crucial issue. In any case, he put this off too long. It will hurt him in the short term, but he can't back out now. The bright side for his campaign is that it will be out of the way. The rough part will be that right now it is centering attention on one of his weakest points.
