will people not vote for Mitt Romney because he is Mormon?
Mitt Romney is mormon so what! What do you think about mormans
Public Comments
- That isn't why I won't vote for him, but that would be reason enough for me.
- yes. religion is Hugh in influencing people. but figuring in the fact that Mormons reproduce like crazy= more votes.
- I think people can trust mormans! He has my vote! Jo is wrong we do not belive that stuff about blacks that is bull crap!
- I won't vote for him because he's a Republican.
- Mormonism believes that black people are cursed by God. How could a president stand for all the people when his own religion has this sort of view?
- I think America is ready for a mormon president, we already got a moron president
- I am sure some will choose not to vote for him for that reason...I saw the ENTIRE Osmond family on Larry King talking about how much they loved him....Why? Are they supporting him because he IS a Mormon? Yes! How is that any different? I wont vote for Romney because the man changes his opinions too much. He was pro-choice, pro-gay rights prior to being elected governor of MA. Then he suddenly became anti-choice and anti-gay rights when he decided to run for the GOP nomination. Who knows what he stands for?
- Yes, I do believe that some will be reluctant to vote for a Mormon. However, I believe that there are Mormons & then there are other Mormons; just like there are Christians then there are other Christians! His being a Morman doesn't bother me, I liked Donnie & Marie just fine! I'm darn sure that Romney & I don't believe in many of the same things but, there are many Christians that don't have much in common with my beliefs either! I just don't plan on voting for a Republican, if I can keep from it! It's not supposed to be about someone's faith anyway; it's supposed to be about who can do the job & turn America around. I will never vote for a Muslim, they are against everything we stand for in this country! So, don't try to hang that one on me!
- I have no problem at all with Romney's religion. I think he did a good job as governor in my state and he didn't try to pass rules or laws in the state based upon Mormon beliefs. Romney has my vote for President.
- Some people won't vote him because of his religion. I was talking to my former pastor and he told me that if Romney gets the nomination his wife said she would not vote at all. He didn't say what he would do,but I think he would vote for him any way.
- Let's do the math shall we: approx 6,000,000 millions Mormons in USA. Minus about 60% for being under voting age. Minus the ones who are democratic. So about 2 million Mormons republicans that may chose Romney in the Prelims. Um...HARDLY ENOUGH TO WIN THE NOMINATION! Romney is a stud. He is a self made millionaire. He does not need back room deals to get enough $$. Finally a politician I can trust!
- Evangelical Christians seem to hate Mormons and so won't vote for Romney. Because of this, Romney probably can't win the Republican nomination. I really don't understand the evangelical animosity toward Mormons, because I think they are all fundamentalist Chrisitans. I'm an ex-Mormon, now atheist. And Jo (above) IS right about the Mormon belief of dark skin color being a punishment from God. They also erroneously believe that native americans are decendants of ancient Hebrews, according to the Book of Mormon. So Mormons have an added layer of whacky beliefs beyond those held by other Christians.
- I do not believe choice of religion should be a factor. We MUST make a decision based on ability, knowledge.
- It will be reason for some that are either narrow minded or grasping at any excuse possible. I have nothing against Mormons - my veterinarian is a Mormon. Just means he doesn't have weekend hours. A large number of kids at the local university are also Mormon - we have had some lively debates on many issues. For young adults they are very level headed and straight laced. I don't ask people their religion when meeting them - Don't really know anyone that does that . The media seems to be the one driving this religious hate splitting machine across the country and the First Amendment will be their shield.
- Only people who don't believe in the First Amendment.
- I couldn't care less what his religion is. What matters is, what is he going to do to make this country a better place? If he (or anyone else) could answer that question to my satisfaction, he'd have my vote!
- Greetings! Mitt Romney being Mormon, would not, in of itself prevent me from voting for him. Being "Decline to State", I will not be voting for President in the Primary, but I will read and listen to what each candidate has to say. I do know that the arch conservative religious right would much rather circumcise themselves than vote for a Mormon, and I also know of many other people who would have have a difficult time with that. The Mormons have a real problem with pro-choice and equal rights voters. It also seems to me that there would also be issues with Civil rights as well. It depends on where Romney stands on all of these things. But for me, as long as there are troops in Iraq AND Bin Ladin is not found, no Republican is going to get my vote unless the Democrats choke VERY, VERY HARD. Hope this helps. Take care.
- Mormons are people too. I haven't research him enough to say I will vote for him. I do know if it comes to Hilary and Romney I will Vote Romney.
