Would you vote for a Mormon pres?

I like Mitt Romney, although I support Guiliani right now this guy is pretty impressive. Do you think that him being Mormon will effect his chances? Id do it. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mitt_Romney Come on ya gotta admit, he looks like a president.

  1. Good idea, no conversion to Islam and still get 4 wives. I'm game
  2. Only if she is qualified for the job.
  3. No, I don't care for the way Mormon life pushes women into a subservant role.
  4. NO!
  5. His religious beliefs have no significance to me.
  6. I think he is an attractive candidate, but as of now I either want Rudy or Newt Gingrich. I could be persuaded to go vote for Romney though.
  7. I plan on voting for him. The Mormon thing is a red herring....much ado about nothing.
  8. Yes I would vote for him. I don't see where being a Mormon would affect anything.
  9. He looks like a president?!?!?! This is why our country is in the crapper at this very moment!! You cant vote for somebody because they "look" like a president!!!
  10. We owe it to ourselves to really listen to each candidate. I don't care what uniform you wear. We need to get an effective man or woman in next time. This is especially important to all of you younger folks who often post here. Please get involved. Please.
  11. I'd never support Guilliani. He's too much of a flip flopper and married his cousin!!!! No, I wouldnt vote for a Mormon. Look up the origins of Mormonism and what they believe. Its a loony cult.
  12. All the Mormons I know are honest as the day is long. I just don't understand why religion has anything to do with it anyway. Yes, I would vote for him if he was the Republican nominee. In the meantime I support Giuliani.
  13. Actually of all the Republican candidates he is the only one I would vote for. His religion should be as meaningless and Hilary's sex, or Obama's race. or Bill C sex life or George W drinking, Isn;t it time we grew up and voted on issues?
  14. Having been raised a Mormon, escaping when I was in my mid-20's, I definitely would NOT vote for a Mormon candidate. I have been through their temple ceremonies, and I held their higher priesthood and the office of Elder, so I know of what I speak. Before you dismiss this as religious bigotry, consider that there are some "faiths" that require total surrender from their followers. Mormons either follow their leadership, "The Brethren" as they are known, or they get excommunicated. BYU, for example, has a sordid recent history of firing faculty for their scholarship/pursuing lines of inquiry undesirable to The Brethren. As with a Moonie, or a follower of the Baghwan, I could not trust someone's judgement who was under the direct and active influence of a cult. I couldn't vote for one any more than I would vote for a Satanist.
  15. I like him and may vote for him. I don't care if he is a Mormon. That is better than being intellectually challenged and an embarrassment like George Bush. I voted for Bill Clinton and Al Gore and John Kerry in the past.
  16. Well I would think that a persons record on issues should be the important thing. You will see that while Romney is a mormon he is not very conservative. He is pretty moderate really.
  17. I would NOT vote for him. Please check and see how this country was founded( dig deeper than what you were taught in school- check out the capitol bldgs and such) it was founded on Christian beliefs, even though this country tries to deny it and does what it can to be anti-christian,(look at our entertainment and how this country embraces thing which use to be immoral and wrong) there are still people who want a Christian nation and want to continue in the blessing it has received in the past. (which we all see are fading away quickly- soon several other countries will past us in many areas ) so I VOTE NO
  18. Yes and it is his stand on the issues that are important and not his religion.
  19. come on religions are a joke as it is. And for one to be an actual follower of one of the newest religions -> mormonism is even more a joke. this person cannot really be taken seriously as he is a mormon first of all and that shows he can easily be influenced one way or another, he sways which ever the way the wind blows...he cant be trusted
  20. I don't care what a candidate believes about how the afterworld works. I care about what a candidate KNOWS about how this world works. If he or she understands that it works just the way Smith, Ricardo, Schumpeter and Say SAID it worked, then that candidate has my vote. That includes Romney.
  21. If he follows the Church, he will make a great president!
  22. Ditto to what Thomas G said! It should be completely irrelevant. Romney does have an impressive history in business and did a fine job as Governor. I think we need to get away from lifetime politicians for certain, and I don't think he's one. I think it's funny that someone got mad that you said he looks like a President. Although that shouldn't matter, it does. Sometimes someones outward appearance is a direct result of their inner soul and their morals. If anyone doesn't vote for Romney just because he's Mormon it would be like not going to the best college in the country just because it may be affiliated with a religion. Anyway, hopefully Americans aren't so ignorant, the same would go for voting for a Black man or a woman. I've always leaned Democrat, so it's still up in the air for me. We'll see once the discussions begin.
