Is Mitt Romney really one to talk about the Sanctity of Marriage?

The Kingston Clan is a church of Mormon Fundamentalists in Utah. Plural marriage is practiced among the community and there have been numerous legal issues regarding this in the state of Utah. Most familiar of these are the civil cases against Kingston Clan members for having polygamous relationships with members of their own extended family, including underage girls. For example, Kingston Clan member Jeremy Ortell Kingston was sentenced to a year in prison in 2004 for having taken a 15 year old girl, LuAnn Kingston, who was both his cousin and his aunt, as his fourth wife in 1994. There are approximately 2000 members of this group. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Latter_Day_Church_of_Christ (I just think Mormons should know who they're up against if they start dissing Gays... what do you think?) It's kind of sad watching people cling to the idea that a group of fundamentalists has "nothing at all" to do with their religion... fundamentally speaking...

  1. Yes, Mitt can talk about the Sanctity of Marriage, but with which of his wives do you want to talk to about it?
  2. Wouldn't it be interesting if we really only went by biblical instructions on marriage? Can one imagine having to marry their widowed sister-in-law? Or no divorce? Marriage no longer has anything to do with religion.
  3. I think religion of any kind is a disease and should be treated as a mental illness. Mormaons are really not much wacky as any other stupid religion
  4. Romney isn't a member of those Fundamentalist lunatics.
  5. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints stopped doing polygamy in 1890 and anyone who practices it within the Church is excommunicated. Fundamentalist groups who practice polygamy have NO association with the Mormon Church. They're NOT Mormons. Gordon B. Hinckley himself said, "There is no such thing as a Mormon fundamentalist." Mitt Romney does NOT belong to this Kingston Clan. He belongs to the REAL Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. So, I suggest you get your facts straight before you make a statement about Mormons based on an insane, psychotic group of charlatans and wackos that have nothing to do with them.
  6. You are intentionally misleading. The fundamentalists are NOT part of the LDS church (Mormons). The Kingston clan has no affiliation what soever with Mitt Romney or his faith and your pathetic attempt to connect them is a repugnant attack on truth. These type of untruths will backfire if you are not careful, because you will lose your credibility with people when they realize that you have been misleading them. Then they will be more likely to listen to the Mitt Romney's of the world. I for one am LDS, but I am not for Mitt Romney -so maybe you should back off the rhetoric or I may vote for him out of pure spite! As for dissing gays, I haven't yet, but if they start dising me............
  7. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints outlawed polygamy more than a hundred years ago. Yeah, there are some fringe groups who call themselves Mormons, and still try to get away with it. Just like there are some people who call themselves Christians, but bomb abortion clinics and murder gays. And there are some people who call themselves Muslims, but fly planes into buildings and blow themselves up in crowded markets. So quit the religion-baiting. Barack is not a Muslim, Mitt is not a polygamist, and Dennis Kucinich...well, Dennis Kucinich is a nut case, but that's irrelevant. Vote for Rudy!
  8. You must realize that Mitt Romney has nothing to do with the Kingston Clan of Fundamentalists and does not belong to their church. Study up before you start slinging dirt or it ends up in your eye. P.S. Mitt is one of the few contenders to have only been married to ONE woman EVER - not even serial monogamy for him - how is that for sanctity of marriage?
  9. Are you really the one to be criticizing Romney, seeing as how you are a Nazi? Oh wait, you're not a Nazi? Well, who cares. I'm going to associate you with Nazism just because I don't like you, and because you don't believe the same things I believe. The truth makes no difference to me! The Kingston Clan is in no way affiliated with the 13-million-member LDS (Mormon) Church to which Mitt Romney belongs. Stupid arguments like yours may work on the elementary-school playground, but I would hope that any adult could see through your bigotry. Next you'll be accusing Mitt Romney of having coodies... Mormons believe that modern-day polygamists are acting contrary to God's will; the Church excommunicates any of its members that are found to have more than one wife. Even in cultures where polygamy is acceptable (some Muslim countries, for example), Mormons NEVER have more than one wife. http://www.allaboutmormons.com
  10. I suppose Hillary and Bill would be a model for that, huh?
  11. "It's kind of sad watching people cling to the idea that a group of fundamentalists has "nothing at all" to do with their religion... fundamentally speaking..." I find it more sad when someone assumes that a group of 2000 better represents the beliefs of a group of 13,000,000 simply because the smaller group calls *themselves* fundamentalist. Although I guess I wouldn't expect anything less of a person whose only citation actually states that these "Fundamentalist" sects are in no way affiliated with the larger LDS church. It's OK. Better luck next time. ;-)
  12. As others have pointed out, the group that you mention is not part of the LDS church. If any actual member of the LDS church were to practice polygamy, they would be excommunicated from the church, meaning they would not longer be a member of the church. The LDS church has very strong and well known beliefs about the importance of family and the sanctity of marriage.
