Is Mitt Romney just pandering to the conservative christians for their support?

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2007/06/15/AR2007061501347.html I don't remember Mitt being so socially conservative when he served as governor in liberal Massachusetts. If fact, didn't he support limited stem cell research as a way to spur economic expansion in the state?

Public Comments

  1. He's not Christian, he's mormon.
  2. Mitt Romney is a slimeball, and I don't trust him at all. He's just courting the conservative Christians. Most of the Christians I know find him to be patronizing and are insulted by him. Can you blame them? He's so fake. He tries to tie his mormon views to Christian views so that he can mute attention to his religion. What a slime!
  3. Perhaps he has been watching Hillary who had nothing to say about the Iraq War until it was close to election time and she decided to run.
  4. Mitt Romney is not a Christian, he is a Mormon. He is also just as "conservative" as Giuliani and McCain, which is to say not very. I do have to say that the previous Congress did give conservatism its stigma that it currently has. You see, since conservatism was a major sticking point for the previous Congress and the majority of the public did not like the previous Congress, then Republican candidates are trying to distance themselves away from that Congress and its image. However, they know they still need the conservative vote to nullify the liberal vote that the Democrats are going to get. So, Romney, Giuliani, McCain and the rest are going to try to put on the best "conservative" face as possible without being lumped in with the conservatives that represented this country before 2006.
  5. Here's what I think about Romney's miraculous reversal of opinion: somebody didn't realize he'd be running for president four years ago.
