Would Romney OWE the Mormon church, if elected President of the U.S.?

Would "President" Romney OWE the Mormon Church? "SALT LAKE CITY -- Governor Mitt Romney's political team has quietly consulted with leaders of the Mormon Church to map out plans for a nationwide network of Mormon supporters to help Romney capture the presidency in 2008, according to interviews and written materials reflecting plans for the initiative. Over the past two months, Romney's political operatives and church leaders have discussed building a grass-roots political organization using alumni chapters of Brigham Young University's business school around the country. More recently, representatives of BYU, which is run by the church, and Romney's political action committee have begun soliciting help from prominent Mormons, including a well-known author suggested by the governor, to build the program, which Romney advisers dubbed Mutual Values and Priorities, or MVP." - Boston Globe http://www.boston.com/news/nation/articles/2006/10/19/romney_camp_consulted_with_mormon_leaders/ DM, someone's blog? Well, isn't that cute!

  1. Nope.
  2. Those Mormons are wacky...on a par with Travolta and Cruise et al......... Romney looks like a carnival huckster or used car salesman
  3. Owe them what ... a big thank-you for supporting his campaign? Sure. Other than that, what does any political candidate owe his supporters when he wins than to do a good job?
  4. Not really, if they get him elected, then they will reap the benefits of his Presidency by being able to inact plans on his fiscal agenda. In other words - the government would be doing the spending.
  5. Is Harry Reid one of the prominent Mormons.
  6. He's not getting elected and neither is Edwards. As far as I'm concerned, this country is screwed. We'll end up with a screeching socialist and a bunch of blind followers.
  7. yea 10% tithe.. 10% of 400k is a decent chunk of change.. of course he is wealthy anyway so he already contributes alot I would guess. shrug, at least its a change from candidates who consulted christian coalition leaders or guys running around like sharpton trying to be the preacher/president.
  8. That depends Would Barack Obama OWE his Marxist church if elected? Presidential candidate Barack Obama's home church in Chicago pushes a black separatist agenda, says columnist, author and speaker Erik Rush. One could argue that Obama's church "worships things African to a far greater degree than they do Christ," Rush contends. Meanwhile, he says the writings and speech of Trinity United's pastor, Jeremiah Wright, appear to be more Marxist than Christian.
  9. Romenry is not Salt Lake City's Governor, I think being Mormon is something he will have to over come in the eyes of most Americans.
  10. I can guarantee you, Rommie is gonna do the following: 1) Release his prophet Warren Jeffs (FBI's Most Wanted for under-age rape and child abuse) 2) Legalize Polygamy 3) State sponsorship of the Mormon Church 4) Denounce Bible and Catholic, Orthodox and Protestant faiths and enforce his beliefs dictated by the Mormon Church, radical church that supports polygamy/plural marriage system and contradicts the mainstream Christianity 5) So far, he has changed his views on abortion, immigration, gun control and pardon. a) He was pro abortion a) But now he's anti abortion b) He was pro immigration b) But now he's been anti immigration c) He was anti gun-control c) But now he's anti gun-control d) He was against executive pardon d) But now he favors executive pardon 6) By the way, have you noticed how he NEVER wants to discuss his faith and beliefs? Just be who you are and tell people what you do and don't believe. But he doesn't, does he? Why? What's he afraid of? Is he ashamed of something? Perhaps his polygamy beliefs? Does he have anything to hide? It'd be foolish to believe he won't change his views as soon as he gets the nomination and turn this nation into a Mormon Church!
  11. I hope not. we don't need another president spitting on our beliefs that church and state should be separate and that both can only thrive when they are sovereign groups
  12. I live in boston, I read the article when it was published, and I wasn't surprised. Are you? No, he won't owe them - but even if he did, he's already the most truly conservative of the top-tier candidates, and the Mormons would get from him what they'd want anyway, without threatening to knee-cap him.
