Mitt Romney wants lawyers to decide foreign policy?
Did you see his response to the debate question today about whether the President needs congressional approval to attack Iran? Mitt Romney, with a straight face, said that he would consult his attorneys! That's ALL he said. Nevermind the Constitution eh Mitt? Analyst, he clearly meant his personal attorneys, not DOJ. And what ever happened to checks and balances?? Btw, the judicial branch interprets law, not the attorneys.

- Well of course, lawyers are there to interpret the law, and therefore, the Constitution. All Presidents, and all politicians have lawyers to consult them on legal and constitutional issues. There is a position in the White House known as the White House Counsel, which basically means the President's lawyer. It was White House counsel Alberto Gonzales who wrote many of the controversial opinions advising the President on the issue of torture and the Geneva conventions, so these lawyers, and a lot of the people behind the scenes, have a lot more influence in everything including foreign affairs than we know. Edit: Actually I saw the debate again and the analysis and I saw what you mean, I misinterpreted what he said, it did sound like personal attorneys. I apologize.
- Mitt Romney will never be President. So his opinion is meaningless, because it will never happen.
- I suppose it's a better option that the present Court Jester sitting in the Oval Office - but not by much.
- MITT ROMNEY IS NOT PRESIDENTIAL, AND THAT'S THE PROOF. HE WILL BE WORSE THAN BILL CLINTON, GWB, AND HILLARY, ALL PUT TOGETHER. Thank goodnesss, he won't be elected anyway.
- He wasn't saying that he would let the lawyers decide his position. He said he would get the lawyers opinion on what he could do legally (something the current president doesnt do). He would then choose the best option. He is an business anylsist. He weighs the options, chooses the best course of action. Its called making a decision.
