How did Ron Paul do in the Iowa Straw Poll?

While detractors claim Ron Paul supporters are just a few internet spammers who won't climb over 2% or 3% in the polls, Ron Paul finnished with a very respectable 9.1% in the the Iowa Straw Poll. This along with a great turnout of Paul supporters shows that the Paul campaign is gaining momentum! Ken, only Iowa residents were allowed to vote but people from out of state also attended which probably accounts for the difference between tickets sold and votes counted.

  1. And three of the four candidates who finished ahead of Ron Paul also only have 2-3% of the national poll. Fifth place behind Huckabee, Brownback, and Tancredo does not help Ron Paul.
  2. Exactly, and he wasn't even suppose to beat Giulani, McCain and Thompson either! I always knew that 2% that the media was trying to feed us was total bull! I feel very satisfied with this outcome (he beat Giulani hahaha!!!)
  3. GEE,,, By not getting enough votes
  4. Ron Paul Supporters Have: JUST BEGUN TO FIGHT!!!!!!! For The Presidency of The United States of America And The Preservation of the U. S. Constitution!!!!! *********************************************************
  5. Let's see. He was on the bottom of the percentages. Wow... He can win now!! And Bill Clinton can be the next pope. Ron Paul has NO chance of ever being elected.
  6. He has different idea and I'm glad he got those ideas out. However, its about time for him to drop out and tell his supporters to vote for Romney, whose positions are the closest to Paul out of the top tier candidates.
  7. I'm sorry who? I never heard of him
  8. Ron Paul defeated Giuliani, so I think he did good, he came in at 11th place.
  9. He placed 5th, he beat Giuliani so thats a good thing..
  10. You are correct. Despite the best efforts of mainstream media (the Department of Propaganda) to ignore and marginalize Ron Paul, he demonstrated that he is a credible candidate. This shows you how unreliable the media is.
  11. There are two factors here: (1) The media polls do not use a representative sample of the population, and underpoll the groups most likely to support Paul; (2) Paul's supporters tend to be more enthusiastic and active in their support, and so more likely to take part in things like a straw poll. Both of these factors would lead to Paul doing better in the straw poll than in media polls. http://groups.yahoo.com/group/smygo/
  12. The Ron Paul REVOLUTION is just warming up!! Watch this YouTube video on the Iowa Straw Polls.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HXkVJtz0bNI
  13. He beat McCain and others, he finished with very respectable numbers.
  14. I agree he did do well. What I find suspicious though is the FACT that out of 26,000 total Tickets sold, only 14,302 votes were tabulated and counted? That means that about 12000 voters travelled all that way, bought a ticket but decided that none of the candidates where worth voting for and effectively voted for 'none of the above'. IF that is the case, then the GOP is in SERIOUS trouble, for if they cannot persuade 12,000 of their own supporters to cast a vote for any candidate, thats 300% more votes than Mitt Romney got, then what hope do they have of persuading the nation? For that is the real message in this vote. Romney came a very very very distant second to the none of the above candidate. The none of the above candidate got 300% more votes than Mitt Romney! Where is the liberal media condemnation of his poor performance? Well, either that, or the paid Mitt Romney staff that were actually conducting and overseeing this poll (can you say conflict of interest?) who where also using voting equipment that has been regularly proven to be unreliable and easy to hack, running a poll that they had decided to win by fair means or foul? Did they 'lose' several thousand votes for other candidates? There did seem to be an awful lot more Ron Paul supporters at this poll, than votes for him. Strange that. So what do you think happened to the 'missing' 12,000 votes?
  15. Considering he was only expected to get 2%-3% and he ended up with 9.1% pretty well. There is still work to be done but head way is being made. Ron Paul spent very little on the straw poll whereas the others above him spent quite alot busing there votes in. Ron Paul paid 800 peoples way in where as Romney paid 4000+ plus he bused them all. Paul gained votes beyond his 800 but Romney lost some of his. I think that speaks for itself. It is an uphill battle but everyday things are turning Ron's way. His support is growing every day.
