The Ron Paul Express?
we all are aware of the Ron Paul revolution that is taking place currently and we all know if he ever becames a president things will get better but lets be realistic here, does anyone honestly think that The Republic Party will nominate someone who is so Anti iraq war basically so Anti Republican ( in their minds obviously) therefore my question is why is Ron Paul running as a republican candidate ? why cant he run as an independant candidate ? whats the whole point of representating a party that surely doesnt agree with you on anything sadly we will get disappointed because Ron Paul will not get nominated your thoughts Thanx

- tell me please all the republicans have to do to negate Ron Paul's anti war stance is have a declaration of war why don't they do that, and make it a constitutional war?
- You get elected because of all your ideas.....good and bad. Clearly he has touched a chord with some, however the case he makes for change is befuddled. He can't show a clear path, just notions and hate for what he feels is unpopular. The emancipation thing...rights and the whole federal reserve argument are Trojan horses. He doesn't have a cure just a finger to point. You can't win on that ..anywhere in any party.
- PLs.....tell him follow Lou Dobb time to become INDEPENDENT ! His donation real from American people not coorporate greedy who screwing middle class He never be nomination and nver will be
- I am aware of a guy running for president again after collecting a massive 0.5% of the vote last time he ran. Calling 1-2% of likely Republican voters a revolution is rather silly. I do not know that things will get better - I actually very strongly believe the opposite - but since he won't be elected that hardly matters. You are right Paul will not win the Republican nomination. he is doing this in an attempt to gain some credibility (something he quite clearly lacks) before running as an independent. Then he will do his best to outdo his feeble 1988 effort - perhaps even get 1% of the vote.
- The Republican party is not going to nominate a radical like Ron Paul, whose "ideas" if you can call them that are as vague as mush and in some cases downright dangerous. Ron Paul would be badly defeated in a general election as the Republican candidate. Just because a few tens of thousands of libertarians (whatever THAT means--any mushy term) with keyboards are rooting for him does not make him presidential material. The other Republican candidates are no better, but they know enough to keep their mouths shut and not spout off unworkable fairy tale visions of a better America. They stick to the usual cliches. Ron Paul is this kind of folksy populist that shows up every now and then in American politics. I think he's most like Williams Jennings Bryant, another well-spoken, well-educated eccentric who was terrible in government office and would have made a really bad president. Ron Paul would end up as weak as Bush is, as President, unable to get anything substantive done and making mistake after mistake. Bad choice for America, really bad choice.
- By "we all" I assume you are referring to his immediate family and his paid campaign workers. The rest of "we all" are insulted that your gratuities inclusion in your embarrassingly clumsy amateurish attempts to use this site as a campaign vehicle. Go back to running a campaign for treasurer of the junior class, no let's not get too ambitious, make that the freshman class.
- The train to nowhere! Why is he running as a republican?
- He did run as a libertarian in 1988 and was ignored, he is a republican, not a democrat. The value of both parties have changed so dramatically over the past 40 yrs that they have actually flipped sides on several issues.
- I do like Ron Paul, and I do admire his tenacity in the field. Ron Paul is running as a Republican because A LOT of people vote by party. Democrat or Republican. "What's this? An independent? I don't trust them!" People are familiar with the two, and that might be all they're capable of handling. America's a great country, but Americans... damn, I can't believe we're eating this shit they're feeding us. Something Ron Paul has said, and has been very accurate about, is the Republican policy of non-intervention. Watch the video of Paul vs Huckabee, he says such an incredible thing for a politician to say. He says that the Republican party has been hijacked by a small group called the neoconservatives (true) and the foreign policy they have is now digging themselves into a hole (read about the American Enterprise Insititute). He speaks more truth than any other politician on the stage, especially "Mr. 9/11." Ron Paul, as much as I like his platform, would be a lousy president methinks. Paul's talk about how freedom and civil liberties are inspiring, and I definately slant to less government rather than more government. But as George Bernard Shaw once said, "Freedom means responsibility. That's why most men dread it." I don't think Americans are responsible enough to step up, look at the world, look at ourselves, and decide what we need to do, hence we have a government to represent us! We're a country that talks about spreading democracy and freedom, but we're also a country that tried to amend its constitution to ban gay marriage, and we're still not sure if America's ready for a woman/black president. I am ready, however, for a president that can rejuvenate this tired landscape.
- Ron Paul has the best ideals for the country, and to answer the dudes question they wont try to get a declaration of war because they know they will go down in defeat.
- Well. Republicans would be smart to nominate him. He's the only one who could beat a democrat in '08. 1. The war is anything but popular, and many republicans left the party because of it. 2. There are even many who support the war that want to see it end, due to the high cost. 3. Ron Paul can capture the votes of the libertarian party, constitution party, some democrats (especially if Hillary gets the nod) and some independents. A pro-war candidate WILL NOT WIN in 2008. Joe six pack and Sally Soccer Mom won't figure out that Hillary,Obama, and Edwards are for the war until they're in office. Ron Paul has said he won't go for a third party nomination, he's been there and done that. Third parties don't get the same treatment as the two major parties.
- To win the nomination he will have to get enough voters to at each primary to send delegates to the district and state primaries, and then enough delegates from each of these to go to have them sent to the national. At the national level these delegates will have to enough voice and influence to override the delegates of the other candidates. I just don't see it happening. I see Ron Paul dropping out by June of next year, way before national convention. It is more common for a dark horse candidate in the Democratic Party--most recently were Carter and Clinton. The last time for the Republican Party was in 1940 with Wendell Wilkie , who as you know did not win the general election.
- He'll get nominated. "Oak trees"
- An independent run, is never viable as history has shown (well almost always). Ralph Nader usually makes a lot of sense if you look into him, but never does well, and usually hurts the incumbent party. Both parties would do their best to ensure the independent candidate looked like an aberration to the the American people. The Republicans would portray the independent as a hard core liberal, and the Democrats would compare him to a right wing fundie. The reasons they would do this, is they don't want to lose the voting power that they enjoy in the two party system. The general public would wonder if the independent was left or right leaning, end up confused, and never vote in large numbers. Americans in general have been taught that unknown fringe candidates are not conducive to the American way of life, from an early age. Both parties, in conjunction with the media always try and discredit an independent at every opportunity, the parties can exert enough pressure to do so, very effectively. Ron Paul knows if he runs independent, one, he will not win any electoral votes, and two, he will hurt the incumbent Republican party, of which he is a part of. He may not endorse any of the current candidates, but I don't think he wants Hillary to win. Ironically, he's probably the best chance the GOP has, to beat her - pity the "base" often doesn't see that.
- As a outsider from your elections l would say that anyone who is against the war that has ruined the USA and made it the laughing stock of the world then he is the man or woman for you. I hope that everyone that can votes in the upcoming election and gets the USA on track You dollar is at a all time low time to move on USA with the 21st century and get some different blood in there Stop the control freaks that we vote in constantly we in Australia are facing the same problem Only here the only party that wants to bring our troops home is the GREEN party.however we have a rather large bunch of religious nutters that are taking over our economy. They do not pay tax..vote..(only as a collective where their leaders take in the votes to which leader they think is the one GOD wants in this case GOD is Mr Bruce Hales who lives in Sydney and has billions of dollars he makes of his gullible flock and if he has his way we will all have to be like that in the future ..to get a job..own a house their way or no way.... Anyway back to Mr Paul yes yes yes...you need a new head honcho
- The Ron Paul Express is rolling and will be full steam shortly. Ron Paul can run as an independent if he wants to but he won't because he is a Republican. Donating money and sign waving is great but Ron Paul needs delegates to the RNC convention if he is to be nominated. IT IS SIMPLE! If you support him please find out how to be a delegate for your state/precinct! DO IT NOW!
- Yes Ron Paul is going to surprise a lot of us with his soon to be large numbers. Check out a great article on him at the link provided.
- May be because the republicans feel that after all these years of Bush, they don't have a shot in hell at getting the normal run of the mill Republican in office. May be they figured that it was time to switch tactics. Anyone with eyes in their head can see that this situation in America is coming to head and that with all the threats we have from terrorist to global warming to illegal immigration, things could go badly for them. My god man, states are advocating leaving the Union of the United States. How much worse does it have to get before people start revolting in an effort to get the government to change?
