Is Barack trying to feed off the popularity and support of Ron Paul for President 2008?

http://my.barackobama.com/page/community/post_group/ObamaHQ/C5zV http://www.ronpaul2008.com/issues/war-and-foreign-policy/ Here is what Barack says: "Where we can reunite families, we should. Where we can bring in more foreign-born workers with the skills our economy needs, we should. . . . The time to fix our broken immigration system is now." I called Barack pleading that he vote no on the amnesty bill - he ignored the majority of America and voted yes. Here is what Ron Paul says on that subject: "The talk must stop. We must secure our borders now. A nation without secure borders is no nation at all. It makes no sense to fight terrorists abroad when our own front door is left unlocked. " "So called free trade deals and world governmental organizations like the International Criminal Court (ICC), NAFTA, GATT, WTO, and CAFTA are a threat to our independence as a nation. They transfer power from our government to unelected foreign elites." I provided links at the top of my question for a reason. They show on Barack's site all kinds of stuff about Ron Paul and Ron Paul's son serving our country in Vietnam and Iraq. I don't understand why he is mentioning Ron Paul unless this is his way of trying to show people that he is aware of the war? I don't know. I don't get it. Maybe he should look at his own background knowledge of our military, not another candidate's unless he is trying to become the VP to Ron Paul?

  1. Interesting connections. I personally like Barack and Ron, and think either would make excellent Presidents.
  2. Fred Thompson tried to borrow a few of Ron Paul's issues on federalism. I don't particularly like Thompson. but I like the fact that the legal separation of state and federal powers is at least being discussed a little.
  3. Senator Obama needs to understand that "immigration reform" involves enforcing the law.. Has anyone reviewed his record? he is offering every form of amnesty to every illegal immigrant.. Paul is right, an estimated 40 million American jobs will be lost in the next year due to NAFTA alone, not to mention how can we keep ourselves secure from anything with open borders? Once again Obama is all talk on the subject, but Paul has a valid plan. Paul has already stated that he wants very strong borders and he was appalled that our government had taken border guards off of our borders to send them to Iraq. http://www.lewrockwell.com/orig8/haman3.html This is his six point plan: Physically secure our borders and coastlines. We must do whatever it takes to control entry into our country before we undertake complicated immigration reform proposals. Enforce visa rules. Immigration officials must track visa holders and deport anyone who overstays their visa or otherwise violates U.S. law. This is especially important when we recall that a number of 9/11 terrorists had expired visas. No amnesty. Estimates suggest that 10 to 20 million people are in our country illegally. That’s a lot of people to reward for breaking our laws. No welfare for illegal aliens. Americans have welcomed immigrants who seek opportunity, work hard, and play by the rules. But taxpayers should not pay for illegal immigrants who use hospitals, clinics, schools, roads, and social services. End birthright citizenship. As long as illegal immigrants know their children born here will be citizens, the incentive to enter the U.S. illegally will remain strong. Pass true immigration reform. The current system is incoherent and unfair. But current reform proposals would allow up to 60 million more immigrants into our country, according to the Heritage Foundation. This is insanity. Legal immigrants from all countries should face the same rules and waiting periods. http://www.ronpaul2008.com/issues/border-security-and-immigration-reform/
  4. No Mr. Obama is strong, charismatic, and, intelligent. If his popularity is feeding off of anything it is the growing dissatisfaction of Americans with the current administration.
  5. No, I doubt that Obama has taken many votes from Paul. Paul is a Republican, Obama is a Democrat. The issues only have so many sides so candidates can sound the same if they agree. That does not mean one is "feeding off the popularity of the other" Your quotes on the immigration issue are very selective and out of context, and they show that Obama and Paul differ. So I don't understand your point.
  6. Shh, don't repeat a word. Barack and Ron are secretly engaged.
