Ron Paul 2008!!! What are his chances, and why do you believe he is good, or not?

I have never known a candidate more in line with my views ever in the short time ive been alive. I believe that America needs to change, and people should stop ignoring that thing are perfect here, and start progressing. Thats the only way our country will get better. Ron Pauls seems to be the only person that can save America from destroying itself. It doesnt matter republican or democrat, this guy is the guy to do it. But since he is republican does he have to get the nomination in order to run as republican, if not, could he go independent? Let me know how u feel about him

  1. That's great that a candidate has given you a surge and an interest in the political process. However your post seems to be more of a Ron Paul 4 President advertisement then an actual question. As for Ron Paul's chances, ummm.... last poll I read said he's picking up about 3% of the vote in the Republican Primary. I personally think he has a better chance of running as an independant or as a Libertarian candidate. If he insists on staying in the Republican race he will not get very far and will likely drop out by Super Tuesday.
  2. His chances seem to be nil. The Republicans will never nominate him - they don't like the man or his platform and do not think he is one of them. That means if he wishes to run he will have to do so as an Independent. I don't support Ron Paul, as I think he has some ideas that are extremely naive and possibly dangerous to our country. He has a huge Internet following, but why isn't that translating to national support? That seems to the be the question here, and if his supporters want to change that they need to get off the Internet and get out there in the trenches and stop blaming the media for his lack of national interest.
  3. He is the only candidate that isn't connected in some way to the illuminati. No chance at all of being put in office.
  4. I think from the other comments here, most people feel--rightly, I think--that Ron Paul has very little practical chance of winning. That said, however, sometimes it is important to fight hard for something (or someone) you believe, knowing that you are going to lose. I am a third party member myself, and although I know my candidates will never be elected to national office, it is important that I express my political feelings and views to show that I do NOT support our one and a half party political system. If he fires your imagination, then support him to the best of your abilities. Cheers.
  5. Whether Ron Paul wins or not depends solely on the ability of his supporters, and whether America is ready to accept his ideas. Most Americans (say 80%) are so utterly brainwashed by decades of Neo-con ideas that they think Ron Paul's ideas are 'extreme' or 'insane', which in fact is so far from the truth. The fact is that Ron Paul's ideas go back to the ideas of the founding fathers of America, and it has been tested and true. The proof? Look no further than the existance of America as an independent nation. I think that Americans need a big jolt of reality to hit them before they will accept Ron Paul's ideas, and I'm afriad by then it will be too late, and America will be a fascist state by the time people realize that Ron Paul's ideas were right, and that they should have accepted the bitter pill rather than do the same old neo-con prescribed sugar-pill. I am a Ron Paul supporter, but I do understand that Ron Paul faces a massive challenge ahead of him. I am more interested in pushing forward his ideas (which I agree with 100%) than actually believing that he will win. He has a chance, but his odds are against him. His ideas have a better chance of surviving him in this country.
  6. It's sad, he will not win. Americans are so dumbed down. RON PAUL 2008!!!
  7. Agreed.. Given the current state of the world we need a drastic change, and I believe Ron is the only one who is capable of delivering that. He knows where he stands on the issues, unlike other candidates whose stances seem to change from week to week. I truly believe he can boost the morale of this country and restore a democracy for the people not just for the elite. As far as his chances are of winning the nomination, I'm not sure. I support him 100% and I plan to vote for him in the primaries. Looking at the statistics there is a huge anti-war sentiment.. It is very unlikely that pro war candidate will win. If republicans want a member of their party in office, they need to back a candidate that is electable.. And the fact that the rest of the republicans all support Bush's failed foreign policy.. guarantees a democrat will win.. It all really depends... His campaign seems to have picked up drastically since more and more voters have begun to get informed.. But will it be enough to win the nom? we will have to wait and see.. Until then if you have decided that he is your candidate, I suggest you register and vote for him in the primaries.. :)

  9. Whether he wins the Presidency or not is irrelevant. His message has already affected the future. He has woken up the youth to take their civic duty seriously, he has influenced Americans to take interest in politics and government, and above all he is holding every other candidates feet to the fire during this process -- we are all witnesses to the lack of ability, conviction, and leadership of all the candidates as Ron Paul grills them on truth, ethics and the constitution!
  10. I agree with you one hundred percent- his economic platform is one which would provide the economic boom the US needs to stay on top- his foreign policy would provide the most security. and overall when you look at the big picture he paints for America he is really someone who can make sure all americans are prosperous and Free -
  11. I wish he had a chance, honestly I do. I've never voted for a republican for president in my life, but I would vote for Ron Paul if he were nominated. But he won't be. The Republican Party has been taken over by religious zealots, warmongers, and corporate prostitutes.
