I see plenty of posters saying "Vote for Ron Paul 2008", so I was wondering if...?
it would be legal to put a poster saying "Do NOT vote for Ron Paul" and then folllowed by the so-called reasons as to why Ron Paul shouldn't be elected into office

- No problem at all. My neighbor is hanging "Don't turn the country into an Obama-nation" signs.
- You could but it may be more productive and honest to just support your own candidate. Leave the smearing for the politicians.
- It's free speech. Why shouldn't I vote for him? I'm open to hearing your opinion.
- Sure if you wish, but in reality people will think of you as some cheap troll who is trying to defame a big man...trust me, down here in the Bay Area, there is a rabid Ron Paul fever & posters are everywhere on the streets & even newspapers are praising him. So don't be surprised if your poster gets torn to bits in a couple of days itself...lol
- As long as you tell the truth, you can say whatever you want.
- The reason you don't see more of that kind of thing is that it doesn't work very well. There are far more effective means to get that kind of message across: "Psychological experiments in recent years have shown that people are not evenhanded when they process information, even though they believe they are....partisans regularly feel the people with whom they agree are making careful, reasoned arguments, whereas the people they disagree with sound like they have cloth for brains." http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2006/07/30/AR2006073000579.html "The deeply personal, usually anonymous allegations that make up a smear campaign are aimed at a candidate's most precious asset: his reputation. The reason this blackest of the dark arts is likely to continue is simple: It often works." http://www.boston.com/news/globe/editorial_opinion/oped/articles/2004/03/21/the_anatomy_of_a_smear_campaign/
