MAX: If our current Presidential candidates REFUSE to honorably deal with the issues, what can be done . . . ?

If our current Presidential candidates REFUSE to honorably deal with the issues, what can be done or what can we do? Would you agree with the following: 1. Organize in an effort to bring public pressure on the candidates. 2. By organizing, you can make your collective voices heard and action can then be taken. 3. If you don't organize, our current politicians will take the easy road out and not stand up for freedom, justice, and democratic values ... as many have no intestinal fortitude and no integrity. This, the above, can be said about Rudy Giuliani, Mike Huckabee, Duncan Hunter, Alan Keyes, John McCain, Ron Paul, Mitt Romney, Tom Tancredo, Fred Thompson, Joe Biden, Hillary Clinton, Christopher Dodd, Barak Obama, John Edwards, Mile Gravel, Dennis Kucinich, Bill Richardson, and perhaps Al Gore among them all. Would you agree with me that the public SHOULD be told and made aware of the real issues (true issues), so that the will be in a position to make better choices in 2008? . I AM NOT LOOKING FOR STUPID, QUICKY ANSWERS or one liners. This is a very serious issue and I would like to (1) see your opinions and (2) well-thought-out ideas and answers! No two or three word answers, please! I allow people to change or modify their answers from time to time and this is such a serious and important question that it merits your very sincere and undivided attention. . If you have any questions, you may e-mail me at peacenegotiator at gmail dot com and I will post your letter with answers at http://chinatownhawaii.com/answers . . ===================================== dstr, thank you very much for expressing your concerns. My statements above and question is directed to all posters and not just to Dennis Kucinich fans. My position on Election 2008 is that I would like to see the best person and hopefully an honest and upright person become our next President. (1) The future will hold many challenges for America and (2) China will or may have an upright President at its helm. A good man, an honorable man, a truthful man, who is and will be a good and capable leader. We hope the same for the US as we, Chinese, some of us, are not an axis of evil! If America does not meet up to the challenge, then perhaps the evil that America has done in the Bush administration will be made known and will become apparent to the entire world nations. Goodness is better, than Rudy and Hillarry lies about Iraq, said as an example and not necessarily as an attack on Giuliani and Clinton. . Ps: My link is not up yet. Thank you. I do appreciate your kindness. .

Public Comments

  1. Dennis Kucinich should NOT be included in your list. Tell me why he is. Personally, I would like to see Ralph Nader run and win. What are your problems with Dennis Kucinich ?
  2. I think the problem is larger than your indicating. Ever time any politician "to honorably deal i.e. answer truthfully" does that he offends a certain group. We the voters take no time to vote much less learn the issues. If you determine who to vote for or against on 1 issue that means if someone takes a position they lose a certain number. I think the problem is not the candidates it's the voters. Wizards first rule is here in spades, "People are stupid". We're getting just what we deserve.
  3. First, I am of the opinion that people should monitor themselves here. If you are unaware of the issues and the positions, please don't go vote. Too many times people vote for someone simply because they are the 'right' party, or because some union, quasi-religious group, or family structure supports the candidate. Second, those of us who do pay attention, who do care about making this wonderful system work, need to become more involved. If every one of us talked to some friends, spent even ONE day volunteering for an organization we believe in (in the political arena), or writing a heartfelt e-mail to those we don't have the opportunity to speak with, things might be different. It would be great if we could organize, band together, and get the information out in other ways, yes. The problem with grassroots groups like that is that HUGE amounts of time can be wasted 'educating' people who really don't care. TV, radio and newspaper ads are effective at getting people to make snap decisions, but are not effective tools to educate the public. Especially when part of the problem comes back to the fact that so much of the public doesn't want to be educated iin the first place. We can't make them care. Spend your time focused on those who do care. Have them write or e-mail the candidates, the media, and those currently in office when we care about an issue. This country doesn't need any more 'ignorance on fire' - what we need is to light a fire under those people who have chosen not to remain ignorant.
  4. Issues..this question says nothing of the issues ..just a void rant ..The party that was proud to use the word "Gridlock"..is interested now in issues...what a laugh have your congressional delegates offer up some legislation that isn't laced with contingencies designed to end around some special interest..or fashion campaign rhetoric..for once
  5. You know what should be done. Knowledge is power. Once you have done the research and know exactly where the candidates are at in the present and their views in the past you already know where they stand. The debates are are farce, especially the Republican debate on CNN where the questioners were on Hillary's payroll. How stupid do some of these candidates think the American people are? You may ask hardball questions and get a good answer, but how did they respond in the past? The truth has a way of coming to the fore. Voters have a resoponsibility to do their homework before they vote. There is plenty of information on each of these people, especially with the internet at our finger tips.
