Who is attacking Rudy Guiliani and gun control issues?
This is a cut and paste from Rudy Guliani's web site: ------------ Rudy Giuliani is a strong supporter of the Second Amendment. He understands that every law-abiding American has an individual right to keep and bear arms that is guaranteed by the Constitution. To deal with a city where crime was out of control, Mayor Giuliani worked to get guns out of the hands of criminals — resulting in a 66% drop in the murder rate and 72% reduction in criminal related shootings. The best way to deal with gun crime is to prosecute the criminals and enforce the laws already on the books. Rudy Giuliani will make sure that if someone commits a crime with a gun, they will go to prison for the mandatory sentence. ------ There is a group on here suggesting Rudy opposes the individuals right to keep and bear arms. Who is it? Jim T. Thanks for the information. I think its pertinent and it means people should challenge Rudy on the issue. I don't think the Brady Bill has hurt law abiding gun owners (it hasn't me) but the other quotes and issues seem alarming.

- I would guess it is coming from the right.. He has pretty much the same views on gun control that most the democrats have. I noticed during the last debate, they booed him for saying criminals and the mentally unstable should not be permitted to carry.. I think that's a little farfetched.. Can't see why anybody would like criminals to legally carry a gun..
- This SOB took guns from NY. I can't stand him. He wants to be Hitler, and is not fooling me.
- My question to you! how did he 'work to get guns out of the hands of criminals? Also campaign websites are famous for their great catering service!
- I guess I am. You pull one quote from his website, I pulled three from other sites. Happy hunting. He was for gun control before he was against it. Quote from Rudy: I do not think the government should cut off the right to bear arms. My position for many years has been that just as a motorist must have a license, a gun owner should be required to have one as well. Anyone wanting to own a gun should have to pass a written exam that shows that they know how to use a gun, that they’re intelligent enough and responsible enough to handle a gun. Should both handgun and rifle owners be licensed...we’re talking about all dangerous weapons. Source: Boston Globe, p. A4 Mar 21, 2000 In 1993, before even being sworn in as mayor, Giuliani met with then-President Clinton at the White House to discuss national gun registration. Giuliani supported the Brady bill, which had recently passed, but argued that it didn't go far enough. In May of 1994, as the battle over the ban on certain semi-automatic firearms reached its height, Giuliani threw his support behind the ban. On the eve of the final vote, he noted that so-called assault weapons "have no legitimate purpose."3 When the ban passed, Giuliani commented that, "This is an important step towards curtailing the indiscriminate proliferation of guns across the nation."4 [emphasis added] "We need a federal law that bans all assault weapons, and if in fact you do need a handgun you should be subjected to at least the same restrictions -- and really stronger ones -- that exist for driving an automobile," the Mayor said.
- I don't trust him. he showed in NY that gun control was taking guns away and rights in our constitution. I vote Hucklebee.
- Democrats for Huckabee
