Is Rudy Giuliani eligible to run for President?
It has come to my attention that Rudy Giuliani was knighted for his efforts after the attacks on 9/11. Since the title of "Knight" or "Sir" is one of great importance in England is this a conflict with the Constitution somehow? I was hearing from someone that the U.S. Constitution stipulates that to be eligible you cannot hold any other offices, titles, or accept money from other countries because it would be a conflict of interest. Is this true?

- yep, and might make a great one 2
- He is still eligible. being knighted is just a publisity event.
- WOW I guess then Hillery Clinton can't run for office and should lose her NY Senate seat. She has been caught selling her influence to China several times.
- Americans can still receive titles. The law only bars people born under a monarchy that already have titles from getting citizenship unless they give up the title. You can get a good description of Giuliani's here: http://www.usatoday.com/news/world/2002/02/13/giuliani.htm and of the whole Order of the British Empire here: http://www.usatoday.com/news/world/2002/02/13/giuliani.htm
- It's an honorary title, non-transferable to heirs. No conflict of interest.
- the ;;family values'' candidate can run.........winning is another matter....................the title is ceremonial...............
- No conflict! Besides, he was knighted in 2002 - I'm sure the Democrats would have pulled up that info long ago. He is over 35 (WAY OVER), he was born here and he have lived here for the past 14 years. Those are the requirements! He is "eligible" but I wouldn't vote for the pro-amnesty twit!
- yes oh course. I am voting for him if he's nominated. Well, how bout that, if he was knighted, that shoes he will have great companionship with the UK
