Rudy Giuliani only received 3% in Iowa, he will be invited to the Fox News debate, but Paul (10%) will not?

Paul placed just 3 percentage points from third place, Rudy Giuliani came is second to last in front of Duncan Hunter, but Fox News will be including him? Does that make sense? They initially said that the top five placed candidates in Iowa would be invited, but Paul who placed 5th (but very close to 3rd place, Paul had 10%, McCain and Thompson tied at 13%, and Giuliani came in at 3 or 4%, making him 6th place). This seems very unfair. http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080105/ap_po/abc_debate The national polls are not an indication of how people will be voting in the primaries. Those polls mainly reflect name recognition, and the only ones polled are registered republicans with land lines. Fox said they would take the top five (5) place finishers in Iowa, and now they have changed their minds because Rudy wasn't in the top five. Again, the national phone polls are not a good indicator of how people will vote in primaries. Paul has raised much more money than Huckabee, McCain, and Thompson. He has been gaining in the polls. He deserves to be in the debate.

  1. I'm shocked--Fox News is usually a bastion of fairness! They certainly could never be accused of having an agenda there!
  2. Basically because Rudy Giuliani is in the lead Nationally.
  3. Fox News is just living up to it's motto: "Unfair and Unbalanced" That fascist Hannity Colmes doesn't like Ron Pauls beliefs so they probably excluded Ron Paul because he doesn't represent the neoconservative, new age fascist beliefs as the rest of the parties and Fox News does.
  4. it may be unfair but the "national" polls sure paint a different picture on where the two stand, and face it the polls were pretty much on the mark on who the Iowans were gonna vote for...........
  5. Fox News is a private media company, so they can interview just John McCain if they wanted to. However this should eliminate any lasting doubts that people have about the objectivity of Fox News. In the interest of a lively forum that would allow the free exchange of ideas, you would need opposing viewpoints. Instead Fox News seemingly wants to give the public a show. I don't know about anyone else but it is a waste of my time to watch a bunch of guys huffing and puffing about how much of a 'hardcore' republican they are.
  6. If you look at National Pols Rudy is the front runner, still. Paul is but a foot note. No one really believes that Paul has a prayer, so their is no real point to include him, except for entertainment value.
  7. FOX based its invitations on national polling, in which Paul has not done so well. Given how Iowa turned out, though, I'd say Ron Paul should be included. He will be in the Saturday debate on ABC.
  8. They should let Ron Paul on!!! I'm boycotting FOX!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  9. Yes It does ,, I agree with you ,,
  10. They should let him on. He is entertaining at best.
  11. Isn't this outrageous? and they've even spread a rumor saying it was Ron Paul who declined! Isn't that absurd? He is already nationally known by name to everyone... believe me, if my 73 Cuban-American aunt living in Miami has heard of Ron Paul... everyone has at least heard of him now. The next thing they know is that he's been kept out. Why, they ask? They were looking to see him on Larry King after hearing so much lately about him, then this Fox debate? So now even these undecided old folks are now starting to take notice of the dirty business going on. For God's sakes He Blew Giuliani out of the water!! You know what else is funny? All the headlines still had the photos of the losers on the front page. What an old gimmick! If I wear Rupert Murdoch I'd fire all my marketing managers and start with more savvy people. I mean, I'm no big fan of his monopoly over the media but the guy does spend a lot of money on it, he should at least get what he pays for.
  12. Giuliani is polling nationally as the front runner. Paul is in single digits nationally.
  13. Not just are they unfair, they've even failed to keep their promise. Fox News needs to include Ron Paul in the debate. Perhaps it's a strategy for them to invite him in the last moment in order to make him unready for the debate and not to do well, and then they'd question why he did so badly! Ron Paul is the best and I hope he's our next president.
  14. I think it's a mess, and I suspect that FOX will be eating a great deal of crow after a few more primaries are done. I may have to tune in to FOX if Paul places high in NH just to see their faces when they report on it. I kept an eye on some of the other news channels yesterday. Many of them suddenly came to Ron Paul's side, talking about how unfair FOX (their competitor) is being. I actually think this works out well for Dr. Paul, however unintentionally. With the other news channels talking about the story, he's getting a bit of "mystery man" exposure that may get people curious about this top-fundraising dark horse who whipped the great Giuliani in Iowa.
