Conservatives: why should we trust Rudy Giuliani ?
WASHINGTON - Rudy Giuliani assured a conservative legal group Friday that if elected president he would appoint federal judges who adhere to their principles. He also praised a judge who declared the capital city's gun ban unconstitutional Giuliani has been held suspect by some conservatives because as mayor of New York he backed some gun control laws http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20071116/ap_on_el_pr/giuliani_federalists;_ylt=AuTfp_7UYHbYCFFCAr2.UwRp24cA Sorry, I'm not buying it. If Rudy wants to have any credibility with me, he must first go back to being Mayor of New York and remove the draconian anti-gun rights laws. Then --and only then-- can he appear credible and honest about his supposed change of heart regarding the 2nd Amendment Thats sad that some of you are willing to give up your vote to this RINO simply because "At least he's not Hillary"

- We shouldn't look to Huckabee
- You shouldn't trust him. Ask the NY firefighters why.
- who cares? A conservative isn't going to win the presidency. Look at what Bush did he's made the presidency a laughing stock around the world.
- the second amendment is my bread and butter if you want my vote, but I well take the G dog over hillary any day
- because he is pro-choice? to me he seems more real than any of the other canidates that are out their, most personable.
- I don't trust him, he's pro-choice for one thing. How can you trust a man who thinks that the lives of babies is just a choice.
- U really shouldn't trust him
- Very solid question... Myself and my wife thought long and hard and we decided for the better of the nation to choose a candidate who can win the election. He appeals to MOST of our views. We are Pro-Life but decided to put that on the back burner for now with bigger issues to deal with. We believe States should VOTE on gay marriage and not unelected judges imposing. Again, not that important at this point in time...
- A valid question that demands an answer! Vote conservative in '08'...for the children!
- Rudy is a fascist. He will get the trains to run on time, he will make theatrical public displays of executive power in order to promote his image as "Duce" and he will aid and abet the American War Machine in its quest to steal tax-payer's money for more bombs and body armor when what we really need is better education, better health care, and a less interventionist foreign policy. These are all predictions I make having lived under Rudy when he ruled....err....was mayor of New York City. I was there when he ordered tanks into the lower east side to uproot squatters from Alphabet City. Trust that Rudy is a die-hard corporatist and that his ego is as big as God. Trust that he will assist in the creation of a cult of personality around himself. Trust that he will continue to assist corporate raids on the national treasury and trust that he will look the other way when it comes to torture. Trust Rudy...go ahead....I dare you...
- At least he's not Hillary? That's like saying, at least my terminal cancer isn't AIDS! We will make a MONUMENTAL mistake if we nominate Rudy Giuliani, and a worse one if we elect him as president, because it will be 8 - 12 more years before we will get another chance, if then to elect a real conservative.
- I'm about as conservative as you can get without being an anti-government anarchist, and I don't think Rudi Giuliani can be trusted any more than Hillary Clinton can. He's a cross-dressing, adulterer who is pro-abortion and favors gun-control. For any true conservative, Ron Paul is the only choice in the field of candidates who can be judged on his actions - not his political BS speeches.
- I support Duncan Hunter. If he's not elected, then at least Sam Brownback, Fred Thompson or Tom Tancredo should win. Even Mitt Romney is better than Giuliani. You are correct, he is a RINO.
- Unfortunately the only "real" Conservative that is running is Ron Paul and the perception is he is a kook and will never get the nomination. There is no reasonable choice for Conservatives in this election so just like with G-Dub we have to vote for the wrong which is more right. I always forget about Duncan Hunter, he might also be a Conservative. And still has no chance at the nomination.
- Why can't Conservatives like you take a moderate who will bring the country together? I am not specifically speaking about Giuliani but ANYONE who is not extremely Conservative and more willing to compromise, just is not good enough, is it? Divided we FAIL.
- I'm glad conservatives are realizing that Giuliani is not the best candidate you guys can put forward. I'm not voting for him because of the simple fact that he's a boorish, ignorant, and hot-headed idiot, but if you say he isn't conservative enough that works for me too! Hope you guys defeat him in the primaries and put someone smart and who actually has American values.
- Ron Paul man...he is the only honest guy out there!
- He is better than anyone the Democrats are fielding. I plan to vote for John McCain in the primary but if Rudy gets the nomination, I'll vote for him in the general election.
- We shouldn't trust Rudy - I know I don't! And no, it's not better to vote for Rudy than Clinton, because they are one and the same. And Ron Paul is not the answer either ... I didn't trust him then, when he was in Texas and I don't trust him now, in Washington. Hunter and Tancredo, I believe, are the real conservatives.
