If Rudy Giuliani becomes President, could it not be argued that Al-Qaeda put him into power?

Rudy Giuliani gained national recognition after 9/11. He was named Person of the Year by the New York Times, he was knighted by Queen Elizabeth, and now he's a leading candidate for the Presidency. If it wasn't for the Al-Qaeda attacks on 9/11, none of that would've happened. So apparently 9/11 was great for his political career. If he wins the presidental election, it seems like he would owe his success to Al-Qaeda. Everyone says we won't let ourselves be influenced by terrorists, but if Giuliani becomes president then aren't we letting them influence one of the biggest decisions we ever make? What do you think?

4. NO, it cannot be argued that Al Quaeda put him in power, and Rudy owes nothing to them!. His capability to lead, his calm in the face of terror, and his ability to manage the chaos after the destruction Al Quaeda caused would be responsible for that. Why would you give credit to those bloodthirsty murderers?????

6. There is a cause and effect to every person who is elected. You think Hillary Clinton would have the popularity she does if her husband wasn't president? Would Bush, Sr. been president without Reagan? Would Reagan have been elected if not for the Iran hostage situation? Would Bush 43 have been elected if it wasn't for his father and the Gulf War? So many factors go into where we are and why we vote for the people we do - its not something that can be compartmentalized. And, to say that Al Quaeda would put him into power is asinine. It may be one of the causes for his popularity, but I highly doubt that Al Quaeda is sitting around crossing their fingers that he gets elected.

8. Doesn't really matter, what concerns me is how Rudy all of the sudden has a clean image. He was becoming a very unpopular figure right before 9-11...he realized he stood no shot against Hilary for senate and bowed out, he's been divorced twice yet is running for the nod in the morality police party, and his direct decisions(like not allocating funds for working transmission devices after WTC 1) resulted in problems during the event that defines him as a canidate. In all honesty, he's an empty suit(who turned his unearned fame into millions for 5 years as well). I'd rather vote for a real canidate thank you.
9. There is some truth, but 9/11 didn'r make him good, it just revealed how good he is. For al Qaida, if he wins, it will be an example of the law of unintended consequences. I'm sure that given the choice he would gladly trade his popularity for the lives & property lost that day.
