What is the deal with Barack Obama?

Let me start by saying; I am going to every website for all presidential hopefuls both reps and dems to research their plans. Obama seems to be making a whole lot of sense on issues facing America. So my question is what is the deal with Barack Obama? He seems to be more honest and intelligent than the others. It looks like he would benefit both parties and America. Is it just because he is black or was taught islam (when he was younger) people dislike him? Please only intelligent feedback.

1. People dislike him? I'm from the Chicago area, voted for him, and am looking forward to him being president. He's very well spoken and has intelligent thoughts about all issues hes answered.
2. I agree with you 100%; and by reading his book, he also educated and articulate, for once we could have someone who actually knows how to speak and not make monkey faces like Bush!.
3. I think the fact that he's black freaks some folks out. I think the fact he has a muslim name freaks some folks out even more. I keep hearing people make some weird connection between him and the Nation of Islam, which is, of course, absurd. And I've heard people try to draw connections like he's soft on terrorism and will allow Mideast nations to do whatever they want to us. Even more absurd. I haven't seen a lot about the guy I don't like, but I haven't researched enough to decide who my candidate is yet. He's definitely charasmatic and seem to want to lead with a sense of reason.
4. He is a very smart man and I like him a lot but he just doesn't have enough experience in politics, maybe in 8 years but right now he just is to immature. He can come off with statements and say them before he thinks how they will sound. he is getting the other countries against him. You might say why worry about the other countries, if you don't you'll become just like Bush a complete loner , no other countries would tell him it is raining outside even if they had ten umbrellas they wouldn't offer him one. Bush made that mistake and was voted the most hated leader of any country.
5. He is my Senator and I am supporting him 100%. I do think that it is an unfortunate reality that since he is black there will be Democrats that will not vote for him, which is a sad commentary. Unfortunately, there are also plenty of Dems who won't vote for a woman either. I think Obama seems like the best choice for America, let's hope that others will overcome any bias and agree.
6. I think Obama is a very intelligent man. He says what he thinks, and doesn't change his mind around like other candidates do! He worked very hard to get to where he is today and he seems like a people's person. He has great plans for our nation. I'm not into Hillary, can't stand the fact that sometimes she seems like she changes her position from one day to the next.
7. Right now, I'm standing with Hillary, because I believe she, unlike Gore and Kerry, will get in the Republican nominee's face and call him the liar that he is and hand him his head. Obama hasn't shown me that... yet. I'm sure he can, but we haven't seen him get all that tough yet. However... I'm glad he's in the race. Even if he doesn't get the nomination (and, right now, the odds are that it will be Hillary)... to borrow a phrase from "The West Wing," he is raising the level of debate in this country, and let that be his legacy. If he does nothing else, he has already done us a favor. And for that, I salute him.
8. Unfortunately it's his good qualities that are kicking his butt. Politics is a dirty, filthy game supported by big buisness who will do anything necessary to ensure the candidate that best serves their intrests gets to the forefront of the race. Because Obama is a stand up guy it will be very difficult for him to run without playing with the devil and that would destroy all that makes him so special. If only politics and elections were as simple and fair as they lead us to believe. I agree with you I am so impressed by him and his values.
9. He seems like he will make a fine Senator. I feel that he has not yet got the experience it takes to make the Washington machines run smoothly. Our body politic has had a seizure due to an addiction to self righteous character asassination and partisan intransigence. The President we need must be able to make things move in Congress, and that takes more than two years national experience. We need someone whose understanding of where the power is and how to use it equals that of Lyndon Johnson, whose government actually passed most of the civil rights legislation that Kennedy gets credit for. Of the declared candidates, I would think Hillary Clinton or Joe Biden have that kind of skill. This time I will vote Democrat even if they nominate Al Sharpton. Well, maybe not then. Still, how could he do worse than Bush?
10. I do not dislike him but I do disagree with him on some issues. I dont think he is the right man for the office at this point and time.
11. Actually there are quite a few people who don't give a flying rip whether Obama is Moslem or not. I for one do...but I'll save that. The actual "deal" with Barrack Hussein Obama is he is black (which, as far as I'm concerned should not be an issue), and he doesn't have a history (known) like Clinton. People want someone fresh and new. Obama just showed up on the platform and said he wanted to run for president. Wow! A guy I haven't seen before! Cool name. I'll vote for him! I find it somewhat ironic that a man with the middle name "Hussein" would appeal to people, especially after 911. And since the "war on terror" is being fought against "islam extremism", wariness would naturally ensue, but surprisingly it has not.
12. I would not now or ever, vote for that man. He reminds me of a used car salesman.
