Primary Election? I'm very confused about the primary election. If you've registered to vote, can you also vote in the primary election? Also, after the primaries, do you have to register again to vote for the November election?? Thanks in advance!
Primary election? So is it the top 3 candidates or top candidate from each side. If obama loses in this primary election does he still have a chance for the later election in November?
How does a presidential primary election differ from a general election? (1) A Presidential primary is usually of local interest only (2) A person does not have to be a registered voter to vote in a primary (3) A primary election does not determine who will be the president of the United States (4) A primary election determines the number of electoral college votes a particular candidate gets. (5) A Primary Election must have only two opposing candidates on the ballot I could use help I got the G.E.D test coming up in 3 days.
If a presidential candidate wins a state primary election, what exactly do they get? I don't know a lot about politics, but I want to learn. For example: If Republican Presidential candidate "John Hancock" wins the Virginia State primary in February 2008, what happens to the other republican candidates? Will they still be on the ballot for the general election in November? Can you lose a state primary and still be on the ballot in that same state for the general election? If so, then what exactly is the primary election for? What does the winner get ?
If your candidate loeses the Primary election will you switch parties in the general? Please answer with both who you will vote (or support if underage) in the Primary election, and then present your next candidate. Also, if you switch parties if your candidate doesn't win the Primary, please explain your reasoning. I'm not looking for people to try and persuade me, I've made my choice, I'm just interested to see how much the Primaries throw off the actual election.
In the state of Florida, why was the Democratic primary election held too early? The Democratic delegates in Florida are now lost because the Democratic primary election was held too early, going against party rules. Why was the primary election held too early? Who exactly made the decision to hold the election on that date? If the decision makers knew the Democratic delegates would be lost, why did they decide to hold the election on that date? I have tried to learn the answers through countless news programs, but no luck. Thank you.
Can someone please explain to me what a Primary election is? Someone told me a few days ago that, their was going to be a Primary election today. I don't remember doing that 4 years ago, I just voted once, not twice. Does the Primary election count towards their Final count in Nov, or no. Someone at work tried to explain this to me, but I was to confused. If it doesn't count towards the real election, then whats the point of the primary election.
Can my older sister vote in the primary election? My older sister is 17 going on 18 i October. I know that she can vote for the real president election but does she have to be 18 for the primary election? She needs to know becuase our states primary is coming soon.
Why does the Democratic party make the primary election process so extremely complicated? Why do they have caucuses where the number of votes acquired is never really determined? Why do the have super delegates? Why was it really necessary to punish MI and FL as they did just because they moved their election date? Are they really so afraid the party attracts wing nuts that they have to give themselves an out? What would be wrong with just having a primary election and winner take all?
Moving States Between Primary and General Election? I am moving from Ohio to Alabama this summer (and then changing addresses in Alabama this fall); what steps do I need to take to vote in the Ohio primary election (held before I move) and then register for the general election in November?
what date the US will finish the primary election? the next US president will be elected till this November, but what date exactly the Democratics Party can finish their primary election and decide who represent this party and start the real president election competing with Republic?
What are the chances a person would get caught voting illegally in the primary election? If they are a Washington state resident and... 1) a convicted felon 2) completed all terms of sentence, paid all fines 3) moved out of the county where they were convicted into a different WA county 4) are registered to vote 5) now living in a vote-by-mail county 6) never received a certificate of discharge This person is not on probation, not on community supervision, and completed all required aspects of his/her sentence (four years ago). Your thoughts?
@ the primary election do voters only vote for one person? when voters turn up to vote in a primary election do they see a list of all the dem AND rep canidates? and then the voter chooses just one from either party? does the VOTER need to be reg as 'dem' or 'rep' as well? could.the prim election voter be a republician supporter, but VOTE 1 for a 'BAD' democrate canidate, to stuff up the democrates?
In the primary election, do I need to be a Democrat or Republican? Today I decided that I am going to become an "Non-Partisan", and drop my Republican Party status. I live in the state of Ohio, and I was wondering if I would still be able to vote in the primary elections, but only on the tax things, like for schools, and townships, and stuff like that, not the candidates themselves.
Can I vote in the primary election? I will be 18 just before the general election, but I'm only 17 and my state's primary is in a month. Can I still vote in the primary? Thanks!
Primary Election question/ I want to vote in the Primary elections? right now I am a registered "Independant" voter, but I want to vote in the Primary election comming up in a couple years. How do I register as either a "Democrat" or "Republican" before the primary election, so I will be eligible to vote in the Ohio Primary elections?
How does the presidential primary election work? Who actually votes in the primaries? What is the difference between the primary and caucus? Who votes in those? Then the candidates are sent to the convention, right? Does more than one candidate from each party get sent to their convention and if they do, who selects them? Thanks for the help, I need it!
How do you vote in a primary election? Do you just walk into the polls and pick whoever you want? Do you have to have a republican or democrat card? Can you choose on person from each party? Is you ballott premade with only the canidates from one party? I'm not sure I understand how this all works.
summery of the The Presidential primary election do i have this right? The Presidential primary election is one of the first steps in the long complex process of electing the President of the United States of America. A state primary election determines the number of electorate votes a presidential candidate will receive at their Party's National Convention. The candidate with the most electorate votes will be nominated by the party to run for president against the nominee's from other parties.
Can a candidate win the primary election but lose the caucus? I am watching CNN, and it says that Obama is winning the Texas Caucus but CNN predicted that Clinton was going to win. So can a candidate win the primary and lose the caucus, and how does this happen? (the caucus counts as 1/3 of the total vote)
Can superdelegates overturn the primary election results? I heard on the radio (WABC in NY) that the superdelegates can overturn the results of the Democrapic primary, meaning if the people vote for Obama, the party elite could overrule their voice and nominate Hillary. Please tell me this is NOT true. And the pols wonder why people don't vote anymore.
How can someone win nomination in the primary election on both the Republican and Democrat tickets? Do you run on both tickets or write-in? Several candidates in my area won on both tickets. Obviously it's possible. I just said many candidates in my area did. However, if they did do the impossible, they'll be getting my vote in the general election. William Amesbury won a nomination for both tickets for Luzerne County (PA) Judge. Look it up. Yeah. Too bad several of my local presidents didn't. Read the question and details, dufus.
Primary Election? Why did states change the dates of their primary elections? Sources please.
Primary Election? How Much Does a NYC Poll Worker gets paid? How Much Does a NYC Poll Worker gets paid? I worked on the 2000 primary, just sat there and translated, plus used the map, I got 200 bucks, just wondering if they had changed anything.
Primary Election? Can someone please tell me how this all works? I understand that this decides the Democratic and Republican nominations. But how do they come to this conclusion. How do our votes help with the numbers they need?
Do primary election totals mirror general election totals? I was comparing primary election totals and they are still way way down when compared to general election totals (2004). I keep hearing the democrats are out more than the republicans in this years primary but the totals are about 50% less than what they were in 2004 general. Is this media spin to make it look like the democrats are favored when in fact they aren't even out voting at half the rate they were in the 2004 general?

I have some Q?'s for a thing and i cant figure them out so i thought there must be someone way smarter than me on here ;) What state held the very first primary election instead of a caucus? Why do primary election dates vary by state? Why do we drag out the system of deciding who gets the major presidential nominations over several months? I think it makes more sense to hold all the primaries on the same date like the actual election. That way each state primary is equal in importance. Right? If we did this canidates would not spend an abnormally high amount of time campaining in New Hampshire and Iowa. it seems harsh with the current method because you do bad in New Hampshire and Iowa your basically done. Even though many other states have not had their primaries at the time Iowa and New Hampshire have extremely high importance. Why does state law determine this? This is not the case for the general election in November!
Whats the presidental primary election in US? i m not american and i dont know any information about primary election..please give me a little information about it?how it measured?!this has electral points like mail election in 2008? sorry for my weak english language i m iranian
Is it time to change the Primary Election method in the USA? No cross-over voting? The Democrats strongly influenced the selection of the Republican candidate. The Republicans are now returning the favor. WE get the WORST possible candidates from both Parties. (The cross-over voters want to have a candidae they can easily defeat in November.) THAT is why there are restrictions on cross-over voting. How shall we stop it? I suggest that, in future elections, we require voters to register for the party who's ballot they want at least three months prior their states primary election day. That policy must in NO way influence the main election in November. Your suggestions and observations please.
Does anyone think that having such a historic dem primary election could be bad for dems in the real election? I mean people are paying attention to and voting in the primary elections four times as usual and are feeling the emotions that are usually only tied to the general elections where it is republicans vs democrats. For example, it looks like people are exagerating the contestant's differences and demonizing who they don't want to win. Also according to recent polls(and looking around yahoo answers) it looks as though many democrats, who don't see their choice win the primary, will be so bitter that they will actually vote republican. Does this look like self-destruction for the democrats in the real election? Sorry about the way this is phrased. I was trying to sound objectional but I am actually an excited, yet concerned democrat.
Does Iowa have a primary election? I know Iowa's caucuses just passed, but do they also have a primary election? If not, do Huckabee and Obama win it? I thought a caucus was just to pick delegates....
Why do you have to belong to a particular political party to vote in a primary election? I just tried to vote in todays primary election but was unable to because I had chosen not to be affiliated with any political party when I registered to vote. This seems completely insane. I should be able to vote for any political party at any election for any position in our government regardless of who or what I am afflilated with. I should even be allowed to vote in both parties if I choose. How can we have a government of the people and by the people if I am barred from an election based on my belief that I have the right to change my opinion and not be pigeonholed by a political party! Well Thanks for all of your input! I understand it's not an election for the government...yet. I still believe i should be allowed to participate. There are those who don't necessarily fall into the Rep/Dem model (not enough political parties and a topic for another discussion I'm sure). I should be able to choose the best Dem. and Rep. or whoever...and decide from there at the General Elections.
Will my vote by mail card be received in time for the California presidential primary election? I have just sent my vote by mail card today (7/28) at 3:30 PM for the Feb. 5th California presidential primary election. I sent it today because I barely received it today. Unfortunately, the card said that it must be received by 7/29. My zip code is 90016 and I believe the zip code on the card is 90036, which is within the same county. Do you think it'll be received in time? If it's not, what do I have to do in order to place my vote? If I can't vote by Feb. 5th because of this or some other reason, will I still be able to vote for the general election and will I receive another vote by mail card for it? Thanks a lot for your help!
Primary election help requested.? I live in California. Which parties will permit me to vote in their primary elections if I "decline to state a political party" on my voter registration form?
Who wants to host the R&S presidential election? Primary results Just in...? Will the R&S King and Queen dare to host the election? Can the monarchy possibly survive the ursurpation of a new Presidency? Or will there be a proletarian uprising, with the accompanying shouts of, "Off with their heads!" Who else will dare thrown in their hats with this treasoness brood? View the primary results and decide for yourselves: http://answers.yahoo.com/question/?link=best&qid=20070627214021AAt3NNc&r=w&pa=F5xxBXHpPmKSlmhy00sKmVlB1D942iWyzU5HAtAVdyA.E7n6Yrcj60wyxGT0q98Fh2bFzK31sKqDaB_PE0ugxg--&paid=choose_best Who will dare to host these wild machinations? 2008 New Hampshire Primary Election? Why was there an election last night at midnight 12/08/2008 and the same election at 8pm 12/08/2008. Whats the difference? Sorry, I meant Jan 8. If polls start at mid and end at 8pm then why did they count votes at 12:30am and announce McCain/Obama winners?
Anybody else finding this primary election game annoying? I am getting quite sick of out state governments acting like children with the presidential primary dates. Florida just moved up their date to January 29th, and New Hampshire is waiting in the wings to move up their date (as early as Halloween if necessary said one representative). They are acting as though it's a birthright to be the 1st primary in the nation. Personally, I think we should have a national primary date set in July. It is unfair to marginalize the votes of some people just because the are voting later than others. What do you think?
Voting in Primary Presidential Election? I am currently 17 years old and will be 18 by the general presidential election which I intend to vote. When my state holds their primary (Wisconsin-February), I will still be 17. Am I allowed to vote in the Primary (even if I am 17) if I will be 18 by the General Election? Do you have to be 18 to vote in the primaries? -Sorry if this is confusing.
WHAT DO YOU THINK ABOUT NEW HAMSPIRE PRIMARY ELECTION??..read and watch this..? ELECTION IN NEW HAMSPHIRE WAS RIGGED IN CLINTON FAVORS This page is an evolving compilation of outstanding citizen investigation of the highly suspicious New Hampshire primary voting results. We are borrowing and synthesizing from many sources cited and credited here. Thursday 1/10: Bruce O'Dell writes: Theron Horton and I have confirmed that based on the official results on the New Hampshire Secretary of State web site, there is a remarkable relationship between Obama and Clinton votes, when you look at votes tabulated by op-scan versus votes tabulated by hand: Clinton Optical scan 91,717 52.95% Obama Optical scan 81,495 47.05% Clinton Hand-counted 20,889 47.05% Obama Hand-counted 23,509 52.95% The percentages appear to be swapped. This seems highly unusual. Recall that the specific model of Diebold op-scan [1.94w] and central tabulator in use in New Hampshire are proven by demonstration [Hursti Hack] to be vulnerable to insider manipulation. Theron Horton and I are proceeding with the intra-county and demographic analysis. More to come. Dear members of yahoo answers...I am asking for your advice on voting for the next primary election...? First of all...I was not able to vote two days ago...so... I am asking for your advice on who you think will make a good president and why. The president you pick must be already running for president for the U.S. and be in the campaign for the election of 2008. I am 18 years old and this will be my first vote ever. I will read each entry and do my research on what each entry has put. Finally, the person who has persuaded me the most...for what my vote will be...you will be given the 10 pts for best answer. I seriously need some pointers. I know that the yahoo answers community has it in them to explain such broad matters to me. Thanks so much for contributing to my question...who knows...you could be the best answer!
