john edwards? does anyone know when and where john edwards announced he would be running for president? and why? in other words, how long has he formally been in the race and why does john edwards want to be president? please be specific, and if you can send links on where you found the information. thanks a bunch!
What are the John Edwards supporters holding up? While watching coverage of the Iowa caucus, I noticed that the John Edwards supporters are holding up some kind of pie chart or colored wheel. I really don't know any other way to describe it. Does anybody know what it represents?
How can you care about health care costs and support John Edwards? For those of you who are unaware, John Edwards is a predator, he and his fellow trial laywers prey on the medical community, feasting on contingency awards of 30% - 40%. Doctors, hospitals, nursing homes and the entire medical community pay excessive insurance costs to protect themselves from personal injury lawyers. Insurance companies and drug companies are besieged by these cretins, passing on the expense to the consumer. With jury awards looking like lotto pay-offs, is it any wonder how predators like Edwards, are gazillionaires, as a result? For those of you who have had needless cesarians, thank John Edwards. Democrats fight tort reform and don't want you to know that the USA is the ONLY country in the world where you can file a frivolous law suit and lose, not have to compensate the innocent party for their legal expenses and loss of reputation. In other countries, the loser pays- these country's courts aren't filled with frivolous suits- thanks John Edwards! Don C- you failed to mention how much loot Edwards collected for exploiting the tragedy you cited; we have laws to make companies behave, we don't need bounty hunters, most of them target money, not injustices; but only a socialist would think we need trial lawyers to keep (evil) business controlled.
If John Edwards is such an advocate for the poor, why does he support the Federal Reserve and farm subsidies? The Federal Reserve harms the poor because it causes depressions and inflation. Inflation is a transfer of wealth from the poor to the rich which is heavily supported by Wall Street special interests. Farm subsidies are supported by farmers, but they raise the cost of food, which causes poor people to starve. They also don't help real farmers because the vast majority of farm subsidies go to factory farm corporations. How can John Edwards claim to be an advocate for the poor when he supports both of these policies? There is one candidate who opposes the Federal Reserve and farm subsidies, however John Edwards isn't that candidate. Have any of you propagandists for the Counterfeiter of Last Resort ever actually read any sound economics (I'm talking Mises or Rothbard, not J.M. Fallacy Keynes or Karl Marx)?
Why is John Edwards not more to the fore of the 2008 Presidential Race? I know its still early days, but as a Brit interested in who's going to be the most powerful man (or woman) from 2009. From what I've seen/heard/read, John Edwards would probably get my vote if i had a say, yet Obama and Clinton seem to have a lot more popularity and media attention than Edwards. Are Obama and Clinton really that popular or are they simply riding the wave of media hype being, respectively, black and female?
Do you think that John Edwards should drop out of the 2008 Presidential election race? On one hand, I don't believe in quitting just because you're trailing behind. On the other hand, freeing up his voters might just allow for a clear frontrunner. I, personally, do not want the primary season to last much longer. I think the candidate that is choosen needs time to prepare for his/her opponent, not to mention money for marketing. I think that John Edwards is detracting from this process. What do you think?
Who else is a strong supporter of John Edwards? I don't think Hillary should be the one taking the lead, I think it should be John Edwards =/ I don't have anything against Hillary, if it comes down to her being the candidate from the democratic party then I'll definetely vote for her. I just support John Edwards more and he has never backed down from anything that he has said. I like his views on things. It's nothing against Hillary, I think the Clintons are great.
How can John Edwards Fix a Healthcare System that he is partially responsible for breaking in the first place? John Edwards made millions as a trial attorney in malpractice cases. Now while no one should blame attorneys soley for the incredible increase in the cost of healthcare, physicians nevertheless order a significant number of tests as the practice "defensive" medicine. We should first look at the record breaking profits and CEO bonuses from companies like United Healthcare when he discuss the rising cost of healthcare. However, John Edwards needs to comeforth and explain how someone who was prostituting the system can is now qualified to fix the system. That doesn't mean patients who have been wrongfully harmed shouldn't have legal rights it just means attorneys shouldnt get 1/3 to 1/2 the judgment. Trial attorneys just have to be accountable for a small portion of the healthcare crisis.
If elected president, what is John Edwards going to do after he removes all the troops fro Iraq? During the Democratic debate in New Hampshire yesterday, John Edwards was emphatic about removing the troops from Iraq ASAP. That indicates that Iraq and possibly the whole Middle East could be under the control of Iran or other Islamic Jihadist countries. Was he advocating that the US become an isolationist country? And that he would not lift a finger if the entire Middle East turns hostile towards the US and our foreign interest. And what if Iran attakcs Israel, or if Israel does a pre-empted strike agains Iran? Will he play like FDR during early on in WWII Europe? I'm all for bringing the troops home but isn't Edwards intention careless and dangerous?
how will John Edwards have influence at the demcratic convention? I keep hearing on CNN that if John Edwards wins a decent amount of delegates, that he could have power at the convention to be a peace maker or a king maker. Can someone explain this to me? Thanks! Thanks everybody! It makes a lot of sense now! Sorry for spelling democratic wrong!
Should John Edwards drop out of the presidential race? I've been following coverage of the primaries from the start, and John Edwards finishes third place at all times.seems like John lacks the personality required to lead our nation while Hillary and Mccain are the most potential candidates to compete for the White House in the next presidential election.
John Edwards? John Edwards is touting affordable health care for everybody. Isn't he one of the people who has made health care unaffordable? As a trial lawyer he brought numerous lawsuits that were frivolous at best against doctors who had to then pay more for malpractice insurance, passing those costs on to the consumer. He also says he is going to end poverty in thirty years, the guy lives in a 20,000 square foot mansion. He could house a lot of people in that house and that would go long ways towards ending poverty. I realize that Edwards is a long shot for the nomination at this point and I think he knows that too. I think he is going for the VP nomination again knowing that would go a long way towards getting him the nod in '16. Does anybody else think that this guy is the worst human being alive? His wife is supposedly dying from cancer and he is busy running for president.
Why should anyone still vote for John Edwards? Although John Edwards has suspended his campaign, he is still on the primary ballot in Super Tuesday states. He can pick up more delegates and garner more votes. Who would this benefit and why?
John Edwards? Isn't John Edwards pretty much the only real choice for Democrats in this race? Hillary is a liar who takes money from health insurance lobbyists and Obama has a lack of experience at this point in time.
Did anyone see how John Edwards dominated the last debate? John Edwards made Hillary look like a complete amateur......AS USUAL! Many political experts and viewers agree on the fact that Edwards won the last two debates! idontkno, Info from BIASED sources is NOT factual! Nice try! Lisa D, So I take it you didn't watch the debate! Otherwise you would KNOW what debate I am talking about!
Should Barack Obama take one for the team and throw his support for John Edwards? If Obama says to all his supporters "I support Edwards and I want all my supporters to support Edwards" then John Edwards would have more supporters than Hillary and he would get the nomination. They could do it today and come out and say John Edwards will be the Presidential candidate and Barack Obama will be the Vice Presidential candidate, and just start campaigning now for a general election.
John Edwards? I am doing a project for school and we get to choose which presidential candidate to report on. My candidate is John Edwards. What are some of the tactics he used for winning during his campaign?
Can John Edwards Now Be A Vice President Running Mate? Now that John Edwards has ended his Presidential campaign, is there a strong chance that he will be chsen by Hillary Rodham Clinton or Barack Obama as either of their Vice Presidential running mate this summer? What you people out there think? Thank you.
Will the Hillary Obama feud result in a win for John Edwards? I was wondering with the crazy bickering and fighting between Senator Clinton and Senator Obama at the last few debates will John Edwards see a victory from this? The two fighting seem uncivil and childish in a way of attacking each other while the third canidate staying out of it all. Any chance now that John Edwards wins the nomination?
Does John Edwards really have a chance of winning in 08? With his last run in 2004 does john edwards really have a chance of winning in 2008? has Clinton or Obama overshadowed edwards? do you think that Edwards has a chance without actually making this upcoming election a historical one as it would be if Obama/clinton would win?
Even though Hillary is first place in the Democratic party, should and will John Edwards be nominated? I am a political science major and I am a supporter of John Edwards, mostly because we both come from almost identical backgrounds. It worries me Hillary could possibly recieve the nomination, however. She and Bill lied continously while in office, Hillary screwed the United States Healthcare system, they stole from the White House, and they are really nothing more than Arkansas white trash. Do you really want someone like THAT as president? The only way I can imagine our country doing worse than with president bush, is with Hillary. So, what do you think? Should, and will Mr. John Edwards be nominated?
Will John Edwards endorsement backfire with the blue color voters? Did John Edwards and Sen. Obama's orchestrated moment yesterday slamed the door on Sen.Clintons win in W.Virginia? Will Pennsylvania and W. Vinginia voters consider themselves Reagan Democrates now and vote for Sen. McCain? Finally does Sen.Obama owe Edwards the vice president seat now? It is truly interesting to see how this plays out. I don't see it as a issue on racial preference but as a chance of many voices being heard.
Will John Edwards throw support to Obama or Hillary after Feb 5? It seems that John Edwards is unlikely to get nominated, and may drop out after Feb 5 Super Tuesday. As in 2004, he may barrgain with Obama or Hillary for a VP running mate position, for throwing his support to him or her. Who he will throw his support - obama or hillary? Is Obama or Hillary trying to get John Edwards's endorsement NOW, if he decides to drop out?
John Edwards? What do you think about John Edwards for president? If you are a Republican, would you vote for him?
John Edwards? Just wondering if any one feels the same as me. Do you think Edwards drop out of the race too soon?
john edwards? if edwards drop out can he give he delgates to someone else
John Edwards? Is it just me, or did the media and the DNC defeat Edwards before he even had a chance? How is Obama a better candidate he just stole most of Edwards' policies? http://www.boston.com/news/politics/politicalintelligence/2008/01/obama_borrows_f.html http://thehill.com/leading-the-news/edwards-says-obama-using-stolen-ideas-2007-10-03.html
John Edwards? Does anyone know which magazine it was where he looked smokin' hot and he was holding his tie to the side? If anyone answers correctly, then you get 10 pts!
john edwards? some people say he is a fraud but how does he make a prcise reading fact when he doesnt have a source to.if those precise hits were fauds someone would have revealed it by now
John Edwards? Now that he is leaving the democratic presidential race, what happens to all the delegates who were pledged to support him? Will they still attend the convention and will they be told who to vote for?
John Edwards? Does anyone else find it appauling that he's still running for President when his wife has just been diagnoised w/Stage 4 Breast Cancer?
john edwards? why doesnt anyone even talk about him as a possibility....much better than the two at the top....he has his problems to but at least he is much more honest
John Edwards? I saw him on CNN all day yesterday speaking to young Democrats.... what is he trying to do? And he still is not endorsing either candidate. Is he still a Senator?
John Edwards? What makes or breaks him for you guys? I personally think he is the one for the job, but I want to know what other people think.....
John Edwards? Did he withdraw from the race already? if he did..when was it?
John Edwards? What are your views on him and would you vote for him???
Can John Edwards successfully make his case for the nomination? “Once and Always Trial Lawyer”? Can John Edwards successfully make his case for the nomination? “Once and Always Trial Lawyer” Francois de La Rochefoucauld had a point when he said, in his frequently quoted formulation, that hypocrisy is the tribute that vice pays to virtue. In the case of John Edwards, however, hypocrisy is simply a way of life. The infamous $400 haircut — actually, some of his hairstyling sessions ran as much as $1,200 all told — wasn’t a freak embarrassment for a candidate so self-righteously devoted to the poor. It was part of a pattern so pervasive that it has become the defining aspect of Edwards’s candidacy. When he lambasted hedge funds for incorporating offshore to avoid or delay paying U.S. taxes, what could be more natural than that he made nearly $500,000 for part-time work at the Fortress Investment Group, with hedge funds incorporated in the Cayman Islands for tax purposes? When he hit other candidates for taking donations from Rupert Murdoch’s media holdings, wasn’t it inevitable that it would turn out he had taken $800,000 from Murdoch’s HarperCollins for a coffee-table book? Or when he attacked subprime lenders for foreclosing on victims of Hurricane Katrina, he would have $16 million — half of his net worth — invested in Fortress while it was foreclosing on a couple dozen homes in New Orleans? Most of us uphold ideals that we can’t meet, but liberal populism shouldn’t be such an impossible standard. The late Minnesota Sen. Paul Wellstone, a liberal populist to his core, never had such embarrassments. The former North Carolina senator is experiencing a kind of toxic shock from his synthetic political persona. In 2004, John Edwards was Mr. Congeniality, for no other reason than that seemed the market niche for him in the race. Today, he is the angry populist, for no other reason than that seems the market niche for him in the race. He thrived in the Iowa caucuses four years ago as the fresh new thing; this year he looks like a version of Dick Gephardt, the union-pandering populist with the negative campaign. Edwards’s anger has about all the heft and seriousness of a five-year-old’s tantrum. All candidates fear making a gaffe in one of the debates. Edwards has to worry that Hillary Clinton will blow on him and he’ll float away — like Mary Poppins with her magic umbrella, carried off by the unbearable lightness of his own political being. If a paranoid theory were needed to explain Edwards’s candidacy, there are two, equally plausible options. Is he a plant from the Democratic National Committee designed to make Clinton and Barack Obama look impressive by contrast with his sheer insubstantiality? Or is he a plant of the Republican National Committee designed to pull the top-tier candidates as far to the left as possible? On the big issues of the day, Edwards specializes in can’t-keep-his-story-straight contrivance. Democratic consultant Bob Shrum described in his book “No Excuses” how his political advisers talked Edwards into voting for the authorization of the Iraq War in the fall of 2002. Edwards vehemently denies it, but also says that he didn’t express “the huge conflict” he had in his own mind about the vote, which makes it sound like politics played as big a role in his decision as his conscience. On gay marriage, he said that he opposes it because of his religious background, but then explained that it had been wrong for him to say that. He now offers no real reason for his opposition. Surely, the hindrance is simply that it is the most politically contentious item on the gay-rights agenda. Edwards says on the campaign trail that he can beat the special interests the way he beat them in the courtroom as a trial lawyer. Back then, how John Edwards lived and his past record didn’t matter, so long as he told the jury what it wanted to hear. Edwards still seems to think he’s in the courtroom, which is why he is so deaf to the jarring incongruities of his lamentable campaign.
John Edwards said it is "obvious" that al Qaeda is trying to establish a base in Iraq that they can use to pla The leading 2008 Democrat presidential candidates all seem to agree on one thing: the United States should immediately begin to withdraw from Iraq. The Democrats' eagerness to abandon the mission in Iraq - the central front of the War on Terror - is puzzling, since they all claim to be committed to rooting out terrorism wherever it exists. In May of this year, Democrat presidential candidate John Edwards said it is "obvious" that al Qaeda is trying to establish a base in Iraq that they can use to plan future attacks. CNN's Wolf Blitzer: "But do you dispute that al Qaeda has a presence in the al-Anbar province, in other provinces in Iraq, that they're trying to establish a base there from which to do their evil deeds?" Edwards: "No, of course I don't dispute that. That's obvious." (CNN's "The Situation Room," 5/2/07) [CLICK HERE FOR VIDEO] In June, he pledged to fight terrorists abroad so we would not have to fight them at home. [CLICK HERE FOR VIDEO] Edwards: "As President of the United States I will do absolutely everything to find terrorists where they are, to stop them before they can do harm to us, before they can do harm to America or to its allies." (Former Sen. John Edwards, CNN/WMUR/Union-Leader Democrat Presidential Candidates Debate, Manchester, NH, 6/3/07) Edwards' recent remarks echoed his 2004 Vice Presidential nomination speech, where he said that he and John Kerry would send an "unmistakable message" to terrorists. [CLICK HERE FOR VIDEO] Edwards: "[W]e will have one clear unmistakable message for al Qaeda and these terrorists: You cannot run. You cannot hide. We will destroy you." (Former Sen. John Edwards, Remarks At The 2004 Democratic National Convention, Boston, MA, 7/28/04) Barack Obama has also voiced concerns of a terrorist threat. [CLICK HERE FOR VIDEO] Obama: "We have genuine enemies out there that have to be hunted down. Networks have to be dismantled." (Sen. Barack Obama, MSNBC Democrat Presidential Candidates' Debate, Orangeburg, SC, 4/26/07) Even Hillary Clinton agreed that those who have attacked us must be destroyed . [CLICK HERE FOR VIDEO] Clinton: "[L]et's focus on those who have attacked us and do everything we can to destroy them." (Sen. Hillary Clinton, MSNBC Democrat Presidential Candidates' Debate, Orangeburg, SC, 4/26/07) If Democrats acknowledge that al Qaeda is in Iraq, and say that we should destroy terrorists wherever they are, why are they willing to risk Iraq becoming a safe haven for our enemies? Keeping our nation safe requires more than words. It requires principled leadership and a commitment to fighting terror that these candidates simply do not demonstrate.
John Edwards clearly won the Democratic debate in New Hampshire! Who was second? Many people agreed that John Edwards won the Democrat debate in New Hampshire. Here is SOME of the reviews: George Stephanopoulous (ABC): "Edwards showed passion and vitality and energy tonight. He was on-message. He had a strategy tonight. I think this was one of his best debates." DailyKos: "Edwards probably had the best performance of the night. He came across as passionate, and was more energetic than the other candidates. With the debate closing on economic issues, he was able to play his populist card to great effect and dominate the closing minutes of the debate." Rick Klein (ABC): "John Edwards comes back to his message again and again, in an effective way. If a debate could vault him back into the game, he may be having that very debate." David Schuster (MSNBC): "I thought the guy who stood out the most was John Edwards. Last night Edwards, who does not take money from corporate interests or PACs, hammered that issue again and again."
IS John Edwards trying to get into the White House by the back door? (Again?)? IN 2004 John Edwards did not get the Democrat nomination. So he ran with John Kerry as his VP. When Kerry admitted he lost, John Edwards got a bit mad. In 2008 John Edwards runs again but suddenly he quites. Now he is meeting with both Obama and Hillary. Is he making a deal with them that in return for his endorsement, he will get the VP spot again? But how can he safely do it? If he commits to the wrong candidate, he will be out in the cold. If he delays too long, they both will know he is playing with them. Yet he has not endorsed either Obama or Hillary. Is he trying to get the VP again, hoping in 8 years he can get to the White House as the sitting VP? Coming in through the back door?
will you be voting for John Edwards? John Edwards stands for change. Change for the best. He supports the middle class, and working families. Edwards is ready to build one america, one that the world will look up to. "I believe we cannot go on as Two Americas—one favored, the other forgotten—if we plan to stay productive, competitive and secure. I want to live in an America where we value work as well as wealth. John Edwards did he win the debate? the john edwards that i once knew finally showed up tonight at the black caucus debate. who do you think won? Edwards was great he should have been like this in all debates shutting up Obama and Clinton about the bickering that they were doing and said that is was not going to solve the real issues for america i was impressed, John Edward 2008 tomarrow begins today! Go Edwards
Does John Edwards concern for the poor make him a good candidate for President of the USA or UNICEF? Hey, heres a thought...maybe we should make Warren Buffet president right now for putting his money where his mouth is...after all, he gave the bulk of his fortune to the poor. Wait...come to think of it, Warren Buffet gave HIS OWN MONEY TO THE POOR, he didnt pledge your money and then take the credit for it as John Edwards proposes to do...so using Edwards as the standard, Mr. Buffet is over-qualified. You have to give credit to Buffet though...I mean, who would of thought so much good could be done by the private sector without a single dollar from Uncle Sam (american taxpayer)....certainly not John Edwards. I am curious about something though...are there other qualities that are important for a potential US President? I mean, qualities other than an abiding desire to be the saint that gave all your tax dollars to the poor while retaining his mega fortune? Hmmm...I cant think of any of hand...no, I suppose the Edwards does exemplify the finest presidential character.
John Edwards WINS another debate! Can he pull off a upset? John Edwards has CLEARLY won the last two Democrat debates. Many political experts and viewers agree on this. So is it possible that John Edwards can pull off a upset? Personally I think a Edwards/Obama ticket would be a excellent one! Kat_lady, Your biased opinion on Hillary made you listen with your EYES and not your EARS! Start using your ears, they were made for LISTENING! The majority of experts and viewers felt Edwards WON the debate!
Now that John Edwards is running for president, will any one ask him about his past statements on Iraq? Senator John Edwards, when asked about "Axis of Evil" countries Iran, Iraq, and North Korea: "I mean, we have three different countries that, while they all present serious problems for the United States -- they're dictatorships, they're involved in the development and proliferation of weapons of mass destruction -- you know, the most imminent, clear and present threat to our country is not the same from those three countries. I think Iraq is the most serious and imminent threat to our country." John Edwards, while voting YES to the Resolution authorizing US military force against Iraq: "Others argue that if even our allies support us, we should not support this resolution because confronting Iraq now would undermine the long-term fight against terrorist groups like Al Qaeda. Yet, I believe that this is not an either-or choice. Our national security requires us to do both, and we can." Senator John Edwards (Democrat, North Carolina)
John Edwards: a choice for the people? Why do people consider John Edwards a great candidate? He: -sues companies with flimsy evidence -bankrupts the companies -the companies must lay off workers -he collects a big check -all are in worse shape except for John Edwards I thought the democratic party was for the working man?
John Edwards recomends steroids for middle class?? n the final Democratic Party debate before the Iowa caucuses, John Edwards took a page from the Mitchell Report and signaled his intention to 'strengthen the middle class'. Edwards elaborated on this recurring theme throughout the debate. At one point, he said, 'Just look at Barry Bonds! I think every American should have the Constitutional right to get buff even if it means using chemical enhancement. It may mean massive increases in Medicare payments for cancer, cirrhosis of the liver and psychological counseling but that is offset by our ban on nicotine and trans-fats.' Hillary Clinton accused Edwards of engaging in class warfare saying,'What about the poor? Don't they deserve the same rights and privileges as the rest of us? Just because they are undernourished, poorly dressed and unemployed doesn't mean they can't look good in speedos.' For his part, Barack Obama supported Edwards. 'Hey, I'm not going to lie. I inhaled which is, in principle, the same as injecting or ingesting. It's time for a change and I think artificially altering the testosterone levels in men and women will be good for the country.' Joe Biden warned against copycat drugs saying, 'I know something about copying other peoples' work, so we have to prevent the Chinese from importing knockoffs of domestically-produced 'roids.'
John Edwards dropped out...Now What? Comments + Predictions? John Edwards was a great candidate. He was the first to have a Universal Health Care Plan, the first to ask Congress to stop funds for Iraq, and the most spoken about poverty, of which Clinton and Obama both said because of Edwards they will pay more attention to poverty and make it their center and focus of their campaign. Who do you guys think Edwards will endorse? I am hoping Obama. If not, I believe Hillary will win the Democratic bid. What do you people think?
john edwards live? Hello everyone! I just got home from a live taping of John Edwards: Cross Country. Let me tell you what happened. I waited in line, no mustery man came up to me and no crew man asked me to fill anything out. I got to the studio about 1PM. By 1:45PM we were seated. At like 2PM John Edwards came on stage. He gave a short death speech then called out some people. I didn't notice anything scam-artsy about him. I think he's the real deal. What do you think? i got free tickets via www.wetv.com i was there for about an hour he did a 30min show taping and then 30min private reading
John Edwards should be the next President of the United States of America because...? I am looking for legitimate reason why John Edwards is more qualified to be President than any other candidate. Please do not bash John Edwards or promote another candidate on this thread as I will be asking about some other candidates as well. Also, please note that none of the candidates are George W. Bush and half of Americans are Democrats. Therefore, the arguments that a) "At least he's not Bush." and b) at least he's not a Republican." are not valid qualifications as those qualities are shared by my cousin, and I wouldn't trust him to run a lemonade stand. Specifically, I am looking for 1) a voting record that shows consistency in what he supports. 2) evedence of good moral character 3) historical evidence that his ideas are good for the economy (ie. when Xyz raised taxes, unemployment droped by X%) 4) Evidence that he will stand by his convictions even if they are unpopular 5) In what way is he superior to the other candidates of his party? Please think of this kind of as finishing the sentence, "I will be voting for Hillary because..." Some of you may like to imagine this as a creative writing assignment.

John Edwards Cheated Medicare and Our Grandparents Out of $700,000 in Taxes? John Edwards cheated Medicare and our grandparents out of $700,000 in Medicare taxes by using what is now called the "John Edwards Shelter." The IRS is working to get rid of it. Rich Democrats won't be able to crap on Americans again. Have you ever used that shelter? http://www.rothcpa.com/archives/000873.php
John Edwards - The Katrina Foreclosure expert? John Edwards has been touting his political activism for helping the little guy and has been shown in political ads down in New Orleans pledging to help the little guy. It has recently come out that John Edwards was paid $479,000 by Fortress Investment Group. This is the company foreclosing on property in New Orleans. He and his wife also had $2.7 million to $8.5 million invested in a Fortress subsidiaries, according to ranges listed in his personal financial report. And Fortress executives have donated generously to his presidential campaign - company employees have donated more than $150,000 toward his candidacy during the first six months of the year. Is this another example of democratic double speak? http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/20321742/ Answerer - How can the fact that he 1) invested in and 2) worked for a distortion of the facts? If you were running for president on helping the poor in this country, would you work for a mortgage company who is foreclosing on homes. Putting the blame on Sean Hannity is funny! Chredon - Yes I ask people if they employ illegal aliens. Don't want them at my house or doing work for me. I know a lot of contractors since my father was a contractor and I only hire people that I know and trust. Chredon - I also know what the companies do that I invest my money in. Its called a perspectus and a company has to give you this when you are going to invest. Edwards clearly did not read or understand this. So don't give me your !@$# about he did know.
John Edwards: Thursday, during one of his campaign speeches,? He said voters can't simply "replace one group of corporate Republicans with a group of corporate Democrats, just swapping the Washington insiders of one party for the Washington insiders of the other." Presidential hopeful John Edwards said Thursday the Washington establishment is corrupt and suggested — without mentioning her by name — that rival Hillary Rodham Clinton has been part of that corroded system. http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20070824/ap_on_el_pr/edwards_change;_ylt=AvT.fT0dpnKuLqgp.6WgEc5p24cA Is he right, wrong? John Edwards? is john edwards a super degrates or he a regular joe like u and me
Why was John Kerry very worried about John Edwards as his running mate? Could it be because John Edwards used his dead son's death for political capitol and even Kerry knew that what John was doing was wrong? "Let me also quote from campaign consultant Bob Shrum's book "No Excuses": "(Kerry) was even queasier about Edwards after they met. Edwards had told Kerry he was going to share a story with him that he'd never told anyone else -- that after his son Wade had been killed, he climbed onto the slab at the funeral home, laid there and hugged his body, and promised that he'd do all he could to make life better for people, to live up to Wade's ideals of service. Kerry was stunned, not moved, because, as he told me later, Edwards had recounted the same exact story to him, almost in the exact same words, a year or two before -- and with the same preface, that he'd never shared the memory with anyone else. Kerry said he found it chilling, and he decided he couldn't pick Edwards unless he met with him again." Apparently every time Edwards began a story about his dead son with "I've never told anyone this before," everyone on the campaign could lip-sync the story with him.
Is John Edwards a hypocrite, like so many other libs? Edwards charges $55,000 to speak to UC Davis students about poverty Democratic presidential candidate John Edwards, who as a Democratic presidential candidate recently proposed an educational policy that urged "every financial barrier" be removed for American kids who want to go to college, has been going to college himself -- as a high paid speaker, his financial records show. The candidate charged a whopping $55,000 to speak at to a crowd of 1,787 the taxpayer-funded University of California at Davis on Jan. 9, 2006 last year, Joe Martin, the public relations officer for the campus' Mondavi Center confirmed Monday. That amount -- which comes to about $31 a person in the audience -- included Edwards' travel and airfare, and was the highest speaking fee in the nine appearances he made before colleges and universities last year, according to his financial records. http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/blogs/sfgate/detail?blogid=14&entry_id=16809
John Edwards and the 2 Americas? John Edwards is talking about the 2 Americas, the rich and the poor. Thats really something when someone super rich like Edwards is going to help the working class. I never understood the Democrats, which their tax and spend attitude would ever help any working class, or poor people in this country. Lets face most of the senaters are filthy rich they didnt get that way by giving a damn about anyone beneath them. The only good senators are the ones we vote out, then we dont have to listen to their bull about carring for the poor.
John Edwards claims Ann Coulter remarks are American and Indefensible...? Columnist, Ann Coulter said, jokingly about John Edwards, that he is a faggot. Now, the fact that he is so upset about a remark that if it weren't true shouldn't bother him at all. He did the following : (see below) "The candidate also posted a video of Coulter's comments, asking supporters to raise $100,000 in so-called "Coulter Cash" for his campaign to "fight back against the politics of bigotry."" Come on Edwards, why do you care what a columnist writes about you? If he's running for office, shouldn't he be a little thinker skinned than this?? Hey. Maybe it's true!?
Who will John Edwards have his Wife Attack Next? Well, he put her on TV to "Make the Mean Lady Stop", and put the Coulter Interview on his Camapign Donation website. Now Mrs. Edwards is publically Bashing Hillary. Wil he continue to have his wife do the "Dirty Work" or will he have to stand up for himself at some point? Would Mrs. Edwards make a "Tougher and Stronger" candidate than John Edwards? Zeebya...Lighten up. What, so from now on Edwards sends his cancer riden wife to fight his battles? I find it ironic you don't hear anything from him. This is for President, not, Charm School. I would just like the man to have a spine. Folks...My opinion is Edwards uses his wife to do his dirty work. And yes, I do believe to be President, one must have a spine. That is not a personal insult, just an observation of his tactics. Using a sick wife. I have no sympathy for Ann Coulter, she is a political Cartoon. Why doesn't Edwards stand up to Hillary, instead of his wife. John Edwards lost the minute his wife went on the air. Period. Does Bush sick his wife on Al Franken, Bill Mahr, Rosie, and all the other hacks that take pot shots from the cheap seats? I am saying it was a tactic that backfired. Tell me about some of the Dem. Hacks and their quotes out of context. Please.....
Opinion, John Edwards Is A Weasels, Do You Agree? I am a negotiator in the firm of Lester D.K.Chow and Associates. In 1990, we successfully secured Saddam's agreement to withdraw from Kuwait. Much much later, we tried to ask John Edwards as to his position on Iraq. He wouldn't answer. From what we can privately determine, he doesn't give a (blank) about the lives of the people of Iraq, if a million or so die "So, what!" was the implied response. Sometimes, political candidates say things privately and not publicly. What a candidate feels deep in his heart or says tell us people what the man is made of and the kind of person he would be as President. Some Democrats are two faced with the voting public. Other candidates are open and express their dismay and anger at terrorist (people fighting to defend their homelands from American aggression). I like snnoogles would like to see a good person become the next US President. John Edwards may fool some people, but I see him as being a hypocrite and a weasel! Especially, on Iraq. Mr. Taco, McCain was always good to us and has always treated us courteously. The same we can say about Bill Clinton and people from the Reagan-Nixon camp, our political affiliation, originally, if we ever had one. We found Giuliani to be a mean (blank) and we approached him respectfully. Hillary ignores us as if we did not exist and our negotiating work is never factored into her future Presidential agenda. How can people be so closed minded on so important an issue? I wish I had an answer to the last question. refugio and bekindtoanimals22, the purpose of my posting was to share information with people. It is my opinion that everyone running for the highest office in the land must be someone extraordinary. No such person exist today! John Edwards looks very nice, but when you try to confront him on specific issues, he doesn't want to reply or commit himself. The same we've found for Obama. And Obama was supposed to be a champion for the American people! I do not like, nor appreciate bashing people. I am sorry and I do not want to do this, but I do it because I feel that the next President has to be an honorable person. Public opinion counts a lot and when people continually speak about people, on their merits, the right person ideally is the one to get elected. In theory it works. If all of the candidates do not measure up, public pressure and public opinions do count and office holders as well as candidates do give some weight to issues of right versus wrong.
Is John Edwards full of sh*** or what? FROM THE ASSOCIATED PRESS WASHINGTON - Democratic presidential candidate John Edwards and his wife reported $29.5 million in assets, including millions of dollars in a hedge fund he worked for part-time The couple also reported investment income of nearly $6 million over the past 16 months and earned income for Edwards of $1.25 million. His biggest single source of earned income was his $479,512 salary from Fortress Investment Group, the hedge fund for which he was a consultant last year. Edwards has made fighting poverty a signature element of his campaign. He has said his work for a fund that generally caters to the wealthiest of investors was designed to educate him about the relationship between poverty and wealth and should not overshadow his work for the poor. Just to let you know I am a Democrat but I am tired of these saleman type of candidates that believe that they could fool the public (at least half of them).
Is John Edwards the worlds biggest Hypocrite? Democratic presidential hopeful John Edwards says Jesus would be appalled at how the United States has ignored the plight of the suffering, and that he believes children should have private time to pray at school. Edwards, in an interview with the Web site Beliefnet.com, said Jesus would be most upset with the selfishness of Americans and the country's willingness to go to war "when it's not necessary." **** How can anyone who owns three homes worth a total of $58 MILLION believe that others are selfish for not giving to the poor? Somehow I don't think Edwards lets homeless people live in his beach house when he is staying in his other mansions. http://www.breitbart.com/news/2007/03/05/D8NM9S8O2.html

John Edwards Endorses....? Okay, so not too long ago today John Edwards "suspended" his campaign for the Democratic presidential nomination. He didn't formally endorse or support Obama or Clinton. Lately I've been leaning more towards Obama. I also read that Edwards would endorse the winner of the Democratic Primary. But who do you guys think he wants to back? Thoughts...?
How come John Edwards wife ...? How come John Edwards wife only has cancer when John Edwards is trying to get publicity? He did this in 2004 and now that he is way behind Clinton and Obama ... here comes the wife cancer card again. Why would Edwards have a press conference on this issue (the first he has done on national TV this year)... Why don't he just have a press realease through his website. I have thyroid cancer, but you don't see my wife on TV telling people about it
John Edwards hit his wife? My friend saw the live broadcast about her cancer and John Edwards said he hit his wife?? I assume it had to be some kind of joke - but can not find anything in the rebroadcasts... who saw this? It appears as if they have cut it out of anything playing online now. I find the statment odd to begin with, but find it even odder that it is cut out now. Have to wonder what else we don't see in our evening "sound bites".
John edwards, what has he done? What has John Edwards done for the american people other than overpay on haircuts and sue companies with flimsy evidence to bankrupt those companies who then have to lay off workers? Any ideas out there?
Are John Edwards Support Numbers Less Than 10% Because Over 90% Of Us Know There Is A War On Terror ? Play your silly little political games all you want , but don't waltz around our country saying that the war on terror is a 'bumper sticker' . Because it's not . And trying to diminish that reality is a set-up for disaster . Edwards support numbers fell 8% in just the last few weeks !! Why ? What happened in the last few weeks ? He made that comment , and more than once too . Don't get me wrong , I 'm happy to see him drop like a rock , but still the fact remains .. . . . . .No American should be prancing about the country talking nonsense like that . Sure , he's got the right to be stupid , but we have the right to disagree with stupidity . What do you think of Mr. John 'there is no war on terror' Edwards ? Somebody thinks that quote was taken out of context . Well , I suggest that person fix his own women stalking issues that I keep getting emails about , and then perhaps we'll listen to what you have to say !!
Has John Edwards channelled the spirit of handicapped fetuses lately? Like he did in one of his frivolous lawsuit cases that resulted in the bankruptcy of a good doctor? "Judging by his fundraising efforts so far, I gather most of you don't know who John Edwards is -- unless you're an overpriced hair dresser. He's the trial lawyer who pretended in court to channel the spirit of a handicapped fetus in front of illiterate jurors to scam tens of millions of dollars off of innocent doctors. According to The New York Times, Edwards told one jury: "She speaks to you through me ... And I have to tell you right now -- I didn't plan to talk about this -- right now I feel her. I feel her presence. She's inside me, and she's talking to you."
John Edwards political views? Where does Presidential candidate John Edwards stand on Abortion, Social Security, and Gay rights/marriage as of the 2008 election? Also, please include a source!
John Edwards Town Hall Meeting? I will be attending this town hall meeting with John Edwards tommorow. The event starts at 2:00p.m., but I don't get out of class until 1. (I attend the college he will be speaking at). Is there any chance of being able to get into the room he will be speaking in? It's a multipurpose room, sort of a small cafeteria. Any tips?
Does John Edwards have any chance at all? I have reviewed both Hillary's and Obama's voting records.. I disagree with many issues that Hillary Clinton is an advocate for.. and I have realized that Barack Obama will preach about one thing on stage, but his voting record conflicts with what he states I'm not a big fan of John Edwards, but I give him credit for at least not dodging the questions like these two, and posing valid arguements.. He was the only one on stage out of these three to also guarantee that he could have the troops out by 2013, which was a promise neither Obama or Clinton to make.. And also keep in mind that he was the only one out of these three to vote NO on Bush's Iran Resolution.... My question is since the media has already labeled these three the "top tier" and Hillary seems to lead all the polls.... Is there anyway Edwards could somehow catch up? I dislike all three of them, but I would be more comfortable with him in office. Does he have any shot at all? Beth do you realize that both Hillary and Obama are opposed to gay marrige as well, they only support civil unions as does John Edwards His record is the same as there's.. he just publicly says it ... www.ontheissues.org Support all partnership benefits for same-sex couples. (Jun 2007) Equal opportunity needs to be active principle, not passive. (Apr 2007) Paula Revere, I am already aware of that.. LIKE I HAVE ALREADY SAID BEFORE, I DISLIKE HIM... but in comparison to these two he is the better candidate capnbill, I completely disagree with you.. I have spent a lot of time evaluating Obama... First of all I work in the media.. I know how stories are spun around and how candidates are marketed to us.. It's interesting for me to see that people actually buy into.. Edwards is not the best candidate I have already stated that, and I'm supporting someone else in the primaries.. But let me telll you that corporations are far more comfortable backing Obama then they are Edwards... Despite Obama's constant trashing of the establishment, he is very much part of it.. AND IS BACKED BY INTEREST GROUPS, CORPORATIONS AND LOBBYISTS... Another thing this whole concept of diplomacy that he advocates, would be a good thing if he meant it... He has stated he would invade Pakistan without the consent of the government, yet he would talk with Iran.. and if wanted have talks with Iran, why didn't he vote on President Bush's bill... LIKE ALL THE OTHER DEMOCRATS DID??? DEVILINM, first of all that's just a rumor and while I agree that it is a horrible thing to do to his wife if it is in fact TRUE.. but that is his personal life and not the concern of the public,.. what I'm concerned about is the issues on hand.. HOW MANY MORE PEOPLE NEED TO DIE? in this war.. I don't care who he sticks it to, if he can get the troops out properly and sooner then both Hillary and Obama... and if your main concern is his personal life as opposed to the lives of our troops, then I suggest you question your own morals opposed to his..
John Edwards Pres., Hillary Clinton V. Pres. 2008? What are the chances? I think this combo could potentailly take out McCain, the only serious Repulican candidate right now. Also, since the vote was so close between Kerry and Bush last election and most people agree Bush sucks, do you think Democrats would have one if John Edwards ran for the Presidency last election?
John Edwards and gay marriage, what would he actually do? John Edwards said "I think it is absolutely wrong as President of the United States, for me to have used that faith base as a basis for denying anybody their rights..and I will not do that..." but right before that, he said "Do I believe and do I support gay marriage? And the honest answer to that is I don't." So my question is...since he doesn't believe in or support it, do you think he would actually do anything to allow gay marriage?
