This week, while in Germany, Barack Obama was scheduled to visit with wounded soldiers at the US Army's Landstuhl Regional Medical Facility. Just before his scheduled visit, he was told by the Army that policy forbade political activity at the hospital and as such, he could not bring his campaign staffers and video crew with him. He was allowed to visit in his role as a US Senator and bring a political aide with him. On hearing this policy (which has been in force for a number of years), Barack Obama canceled his scheduled visit and instead checked into the Ritz Carlton hotel and worked out in the gym. Barack Obama thinking was, "If I can not have my picture taken with the soldiers for a campaign ad, why bother to visit?" Why do you support Barack Obama? I think he has a clear picture of what needs to be done and some great ideas about how to achieve it. He's an eloquent speaker, intelligent, and he seems to genuinely CARE about this country and Americans. Many Americans have lost trust in the current administration and the traditional ways of government operations, and when people's trusts are compromised it is difficult to restore. I think Obama's plan to revamp what is possible in Washington is commendable. The derailment and abuse of power by the current administration, and the unprecedented unpopular results it is still producing will take many years of labor to mend. The Senators aim to work on policy reform while honoring our constitution versus catering to lobbyists and special interest groups stands to reshape the Capital and it stands to trickle down to my home town. But recently, as Republicanism morphed into an ideology and then a personality cult and then a series of increasingly strained far-right litmus tests, conservatives seemed to be verging on the purism of the old left. Then, all of a sudden, in the wake of South Carolina, they took a look at the field, saw the enormous enthusiasm building behind Barack Obama and went for their strongest electable candidate: John McCain. Mitt Romney isn’t toast yet. And the talk radio circuit – long a fervent foe of McCain – is still spluttering revolt. Some leading far righters – Michelle Malkin, the mega-blogger, and the columnist Ann Coulter, the Paris Hilton of right wingery – have even said that they would rather back Hillary Clinton than McCain. He made his liberalism a positive in the electability wars, which is the first time that has happened in American politics since 1976. The winnowing of the field to two has oddly helped his electability. You could see it at the Clinton-Obama debate last week. Clinton did not do poorly. All her strengths were on show: the policy mastery, the gaffe-free talking points, the Clinton record in the 1990s. But that made his ease all the more impressive. Most crucial, Obama seemed like a president. In his body language he carefully upstaged her without looking as if he were trying. By the end of the debate he was pulling her chair back for her. If Obama’s main drawback in the electability game has until now been gravitas, he erased that gap in two short hours. Can it work? Can Obama win? I don’t know. Clinton is still a formidable candidate and her massive institutional advantage may eventually give her the nomination. Any objective observer would have to say she is still the favourite at this juncture. But she has not won this primary argument or this primary battle. If she becomes the nominee, it will be because she survived the primaries. Obama won them. The national polling keeps getting tighter. In every state where Obama has had a chance to be exposed to voters in real time, he has won. But the states up for grabs on Tuesday are big ones where retail salesmanship and organisation are not as powerful as name recognition. does anyone else just feel that it would sort of "break tradition" to a woman as president? I mean I got the s when Condoleeza Rice was undergoing confirmation hearing to become secretary of state, it just looked like a single black woman amid a sea of incriminating white males. I can just remember thinking how very strange it looked and saying to myself, "is this really talking place?" I guess it is just because throughout history blacks have always been discriminated against, and I had never ever seen a black, let alone a woman, in a position of such discrete political power. In a way it almost scared me, like I thought "is something going to happen to her, being a black female in that position?" And it sounds crazy, but I am getting the same incling about Hillary Clinton should she become president. Compared with everything I have ever seen or known throughout history it would just look impossible, like something was wrong with the picture. Even having current number 2 Barack Obama as president would look more plausible in my opinion. I guess what I am trying to say is, doesn't it seem to anyone else like having a female president would sort of break the American legacy of only having white male presidents? I mean I know that sounds wierd and we can go beyond that, but throughout history and everything I have known it has always just been white males, almost as if white males are the only ones who are truly capable of taking on the job since there have never been any presidents of other races or genders. U can even see it here on yahoo answers where he is constantly referred to as Barack Osama while others choose to spell his middle name in full as a hint. Others link him to nation of islam. many americans have found it real hard to shake off racism, especially those whose ancestors may have owned slaves. interesting enough those who call him osama appear to STILL believe that bin laden was behind 9-11 terror attacks, a suggestion that many in america and virtually almost everyone in the rest of the world will find absurd.

When the state of Maine which Barack Obama won , has a 98% white population, but the picture that is representative of his win..is of a lone black immigrant, what am I to think. I mean come on... Did you hear Rush today? RUSH: Let's go back to Thursday, March 22nd on this program. This, said I. RUSH ARCHIVE: I'm telling you, this is to jumpstart the campaign. This is to see if it will jumpstart the campaign, and we'll find out the next three or four days or whatever, week, if that happens. This business about this being a surprise makes me think that the leak that was planted today was purposely wrong, to create surprise, make sure everybody thought, "Oh, we know what's coming," and have it blown away. "The campaign's going to go on! Ooh, the campaign is going to go on! Well, we thought it was going to be suspended." You know, we all get all these press releases in advance of the State of the Union Address. We all know what's going to be said before it airs. There's no surprises. This was surprise. It may have been done on purpose. RUSH: This, ladies and gentlemen, is what I said on this program the day of the John and Elizabeth Edwards cancer press conference. Jumpstart the campaign. I of course took mountains of grief for this in a number of quarters. "How could Limbaugh be so callous," when in fact I was not the first to say so, I was not the first to categorize this and analyze it in a political sense. The Drive-Bys beat me to this led by Howard Fineman. Now, let's go to CNN, The Situation Room, last night. Host, Suzanne Malveaux filling in for Wolf Blitzer, interviewed Senator Edwards, and she said, "A lot of people have really set up this race as Hillary Clinton versus Barack Obama, but these poll numbers show you second to Hillary and neck and neck with Obama." EDWARDS: I've been moving up. We have some momentum now. I think this is going to be a serious race where voters get a chance to look at the differences in our positions and our personal characteristics to be president. RUSH: "I've been moving up," he said. "We have some momentum now." Would somebody...? You fill in the blank. What was it that caused the momentum? I mean, there wasn't momentum before the press conference. What was it that caused the momentum? It is clear what caused it. But this, ladies and gentlemen, is the pièce de résistance. I am holding this in my formerly nicotine-stained fingers. This is from the Washington Post blog today: "When you visit the John Edwards for President Web site, you're invited to send a sympathy note to the Edwardses. And tens of thousands of well wishers have done so since that heart-wrenching news conference two weeks ago at which Elizabeth Edwards courageously discussed her incurable cancer. What those well wishers get in return -- e-mail messages soliciting contributions to Edwards's campaign." So if you went to the Edwards website and you saw the opportunity to send a sympathy note to the Edwardses -- and tens of thousands am people did -- every one of those people has registered on the Edwards website and every one of them has received an e-mail message asking for contributions to the Edwards campaign. "Visitors to the Edwards site who choose to 'send a note to Elizabeth and John' are first taken to a heartfelt letter from the candidate that was written the day after he learned that his wife's cancer had returned. Edwards thanks readers for their 'prayers and wishes,' vows that he and Elizabeth will 'keep a positive attitude always look for the silver lining' and declares that 'our campaign goes on and it goes on strongly.' Anyone who then chooses to send a note of sympathy to the Edwardses -- and, thus, provide his or her e-mail address -- automatically becomes part of the Edwards campaign's online e-mail database, a list that is crucial to any campaign's ability to raise vast amounts of money over the Internet. If you sent a note to the Edwardses before the critical March 31 end-of-the-quarter fundraising deadline, you would have received frantic e-mail solicitations from the campaign, such as the one on March 28 from Edwards campaign manager David Bonior titled, '96 hours to show substance works.' "'The solicitation asked for '$25, $50 or any amount you can afford to give,'" and you only had 96 hours to do it. This is what it is. Do I need to analyze this? Do I need to add commentary to this? (interruption) You think I do, Snerdley? Well, that means people out there can't figure this out. That means people are not going to understand the point of this without me telling them. I refuse to believe that the people in this audience are that dense. Well, of course there are liberals listening. There are always liberals listening to this program. They're always spying, studying. Okay, what word would you associate with this, folks? Crass? Ballsy? What word would you use? Opportunistic? Some might say, "Hey, Rush, it's politics. It's no big deal. You send a note to some candidate's website, what do expect you're going to get, Rush? I mean, come on. Everybody knows if you sent an e-mail to a candidate's website, you're on the list and you're going to get solicited for money. Come on, Rush! You're making too big a deal of it." No, no, folks. You are invited to send a sympathy message, not donate. The first thing that happens is, you want to send a sympathy message. Well, my gosh, look at the number of people who never knew Princess Diana who left notes, letters, pictures of themselves all along the cortege route. So the campaign had to know that there would be a lot of people who wanted to send along well wishes and sympathy and so forth. That's the first thing people were asked to do. They weren't asked to donate. It's only after sending in the sympathy card or message that you are then solicited. I'm sure they said, "Thanks for the great sympathy note. We really appreciate it. It means a lot to us. By the way, 96 hours left to show that you have substance, or that there is substance, $25, $50, or whatever amount you can donate. There are only 96 hours to go," from campaign chairman David Bonior. (Laughing) HR just said in the IFB he could have at least done that part under separate cover. What do you mean? A separate thank-you note? A thank you, and then a follow-up? They at least could have done that? Well, that's time-consuming and it removes you one step from the sale. Anyway, this should put to rest among anybody who's reasonable out there, that this is being seized upon as a political opportunity, and I predicted it and said, "See if it jumpstarts the campaign," which it has, financially, poll-wise.
Is Racism the new McCarthyism? It would say "America under Racism" Isn't Al Sharpton the new Senator McCarthy? Remember, when you could lose your job, simply for being CONSIDERED a communist? Well, if you make one slip, that may not even be racist (remember this? Barack Obama is a clean and articulate mainstream African-American...) you are automatically outed by the "Race Pimps" Sharpton and Jackson. You are ostracized by the community, lose you job, etc. Soon they may even start pressing charges. Executive Order 9835, which was created to make it legal to fire "Communists" hired by the U.S. government. Can't you see Hillary Clinton signing an Executive Order which would root out any racists hired by our government? We will have a new "Federal Loyalty Program", except it would be called the "African-American Loyalty Program"

Barack Obama excused his absence from Mardi Gras by saying that he knew he couldn't have "those kind of pictures" come out during the election... Hillary Clinton released a video on her website that featured her notoriously bad singing during the national anthem and also showed Bill Clinton running on a treadmill while dreaming of cheeseburgers. Who is the best at "smearing" themselves for fun?
All of the work that Hillary has done? All of the work that Hillary has done, and efforts for trying to improve the world and poverty for all of these years, and all of her experience, and now I see many people like the Barack Obama person who is a nobody from the hood; where has he been all of these years?? It is a matter of honor, not religion!! A man who has no loyalty to his country should not be in office!!!!!!! You pledge Alegiance to the flag of the united states first, religion is a secondary issue. The flag represents freedom in a country where a s s holes like him can run for office.
