Mitt Romney Issues Knowledge Base

What issues is Mitt Romney considered liberal on, also? What issues has he flip flopped on? Aside from abortion. I've heard a lot of reasons as to why John McCain and Mike Huckabee are considered liberal, but never Mitt Romney.
Where Does Mitt Romney Really Stand On Issues? Why did he say it was all right for a gay to be a scout master. Why did he change his stance on abortion. Yet he still claims to be a Mormon.
Why President John McCain and Vice President Mitt Romney would be the winning ticket for the USA in 2008? The President of the United States is the Chief Commander of the Armed Forces (John McCain fits the position best). The Vice President of the United States handles more Economic issues (Mitt Romney fits the position best). Obama has no history of either of these positions or much of any successful past at all Clinton is everything the opposite of these positions and wants everything to be a socialist economy and has no armed forces experience. Democrats have no qualified candidates right now for the Presidential seats.
Mitt Romney won over what issues? who are some people that Mitt Romney ran against and won? what issues was it over? like when he was in the Republican party who were some people he won over before he lost to McCain?
How many positions has Mitt Romney had on the issues? He's pro abortion and he's anti abortion. He's for raising taxes and he's for lowering taxes. Etc. etc. etc.
Can we all agree Mitt Romney lost the GOP debate? He flip-flopped on almost every issue. Mitt Romney admitted his immigration plan is not reasonable. Mitt Romney's attack ads finally catched up to him nobody on the staged liked him.
Question for Mitt Romney supporters: How do you rationalize his 180 degree switch on social issues? I have to admit that I'm having trouble understanding Republicans who loved to use the term "flip-flopper" back in 2004 but see no reason to apply it to Romney. Less than three years ago? Pro-choice, gay friendly, pro gun control. Now? Anti-choice, gays want special rights and he's anti gun control. Please, in all seriousness, can you explain how he is not an opportunist and a flip-flopper himself? No one who supports him ever seems to address this.
Can Mitt Romney re-enter the Republican presidential nomination race? Let's suppose that either... 1. The new accusations regarding John McCain and a female lobbyist cause his Presidential campaign to nosedive, or 2. McCain ends his Presidential campaign for whatever reason (health issues, scandal, etc.) Can Mitt Romney jump back into the race? From what I recall, he technically "suspended" his campaign. What would happen to McCain's delegates if McCain ended his campaign? If McCain did not end his campaign, could his delegates bail on him?
What does Mitt Romney say on the issue: Environment? Can someone tell me what presidential candidate Mitt Romney says to the issue: environment? (btw, whoever answers, can you explain the answer as simple as possible so i can understand lol)
Duncan Hunter, Ron Paul, Mitt Romney: Based on the Issues, what are the Pros and Cons for US President 2008? http://www.gohunter08.com/index.asp http://www.ronpaul2008.com/ http://www.mittromney.com/ http://www.yournextpresident.net/thefacts.php http://pewforum.org/religion08/ http://www.2decide.com/table.htm http://www.opensecrets.org/pres08/index.asp http://www.presidentpolls2008.com/polls/index.php http://www.ontheissues.org/Issues.htm http://nationaljournal.com/campaigns/2008/whitehouse/#republicans I am looking for your opinion as to what makes one better than the other. http://www.romneyfacts.com/ http://www.criticalreactor.com/2007/07/25/the-cfr-and-the-2008-presidential-candidates/
Is it good that Mitt Romney does not care about lots of issues like e.g. abortion? He constantly flips, he apparently does not give a sh**. He could easily compromise with Congress on those issuses, getting support for his core agenda in exchange.
Who would vote for Mitt Romney on his record? I have one prescription that costs more than the insurance cost in Mass.
Will GOP race ultimately be between John McCain and Mitt Romney? Huckabee seems to only attract evangelica.s Giuliani has yet to win a state and is very liberal in social issues (pro choice, support gun control, and gay marriage). Ron Paul will not win a state. It seems like romney is most conservative candidate and he will do well. McCain also has the most experience and served in war which will help him.
Mitt Romney is an excellent candidate; what does his religion believe and why does it seem to be such an issue With Mitt Romney running for president there seems to be a continual discussion about his Mormon religion. From what I have heard and seen, Romney appears to be very intelligent and fits the presidential role perfectly. Why is there a hang-up about his religion? Someone said that Mormons don’t believe in Christ, is that true? What exactly do Mormon’s believe and why should that be a deciding factor in the presidential election?
Mitt Romney: Washington "Fundamentally Broken"? Mitt Romney says that Washington is "fundamentally broken". So where is the constitutional reform agenda? A look at the Romney website under the heading of "Issues" shows nothing related to governmental reform. Is electing him supposed to "fundamentally" change Washington? Give me a break. Is this just the Romney persona-of-the-week? This guy gives new meaning to the word mercurial. Which isn't good, since most of us don't even know the old one. (-: LDS Mom: There are actually 3 questions there. Admittedly, second is rhetorical, but the others weren't. Zach V: You make two conflicting points, no? "Romney isn't attacking the government's form/structure. He is attacking Washington's politicians." That hardly sounds "fundamental" if there's no systemic problem, just a collection of bad people. You make a good point about the out of control incumbent return rates. Unfortunately, Romney doesn't seem to be making that point anywhere on his website. Gerrymandering IS a huge issue, but one for the states.
Why does everyone believe MItt romney and Huck are tough on Immigration? mitt romney -has new illegal cutting his grass every week huckabee - gave social benefits to them as governor I didnt mention mccain or giuliani because everybody already knows they are soft - the only repub left on this is Ron Paul with a very consistent record against amnesty or any social benefits being they are Illegal-just curious why people think huck and romney are tough on this issue - is it because a month ago they said they were during a debate ? what is it please enlighten me ? that is not correct he voted no to give illegals ss benefits and voted yes on the fence - he wants to end birthright citizenship for illegal aliens also -where do you come up with this stuff I asked about romney and huckabee and you attack paul (incorrectly I might add) .typical response you cant defend your candidate but then you lie about mine . the above rant was at mcsweeney - now for tough guy -huckabees past record in no way supports what he is saying -he is very soft if you look at his past Paper mage you are right but that change (amendment was added during the civil war so that blacks and future generations would be considered citizens - it is no longer necessary being the war is over and the constitution should be restored
Would Mitt Romney have beaten Barack Obama? Mitt Romney was known throughout the campaign for his great knowledge and experience with the ECONOMY. The ECONOMY was the biggest issue this fall, and still is. If Romney were chosen as the GOP's nominee, would he have beaten the Obama/Biden campaign, especially is he chose McCain or Palin as his VP?
Is Mitt Romney a conservative? or just a liberal governor from Massachussets? On abortion http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cFMdK0TWtks&NR=1 In 2002, (not very long ago) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P_w9pquznG4&NR=1 I just types in the words "mitt romney liberal" on google and it was amazing what I found. It seems to me this guy is the most liberal person to ever run for president on the republican side. Here is on interesting article I found. http://www.theconservativevoice.com/article/21907.html After reading that article, I certainly am convinced Romney is more liberal than John Mccain. On some issues I think he might be even more liberal than Hillary Clinton. It amazes me that so many conservatives are falling for this.
Would Mitt Romney have to change his religion to win the election? I don't think that there are enough Mormons for them to get their guy in the White House. No, I don't think that Romney has a chance but his view on the issues is not disagreeable. Like most Americans I wouldn't vote for a Mormon in the White House on principle but I see nothing wrong with him serving his country as a senator. But what do you think? Would Mitt Romney have to change his religion to win the election? If he converted to say, the Baptist church he would have a much better chance at the presidency.
How do you feel about Mitt Romney giving "the Mormon Speech"? After eleven months of trying to Not make this election about religion, campaigns like Huckabee's and McCain's keep trying to paint themselves as more "Christian" than the others. Now, Romney has to get out there and say "Hey, Mormons are Christians, too", or people are just gonna stay home on primary/caucus days. Do you think Christianity should be an issue?
Do you think Mitt Romney may be able to empathize more with people in minority religions? Since Mitt Romney was a Mormon living in Massachusetts, do you think that his experiences may have made him likely to be more mindful and understanding in regards to other people that are in minority religions? Has anyone heard him make any statements that might indicate that he may be especially tolerant of people of different faiths? From everything I've heard about Huckabee, it sounds like a non-Christian could never trust him. Do you think that Mitt Romney's experiences might make him a bit more open on religious issues than most Republican candidates tend to be?
Do you agree with Mitt Romney on Sex Education Issue? Watch out this video http://www.electionspeak.com/USElectionVideos/255 , Mitt Romney reacts to Barack Obama on Sex Education issue. What do you think, sex education is required in kids or not?
what others are saying about Mitt Romney? Romney has done his best to defend the culture of life on what is probably the most inhospitable terrain in the country.” –John J. Miller (National Review) “We couldn’t be happier with him. Without Romney, we would have been slapped with a lot of new taxes.” –Barbara Anderson, Citizens for Limited Taxation (Massachusetts) "I could in very good conscience support Romney as a fellow social conservative on most of the issues we care about." –Charles Colson “He has been in fights with liberals on every social issue imaginable — gay marriage, cloning, abstinence education, emergency contraception, gay adoption. At times, it's almost been as if the conservative capital of America has been in that tiny slice of Boston occupied by Romney's office.” -Rich Lowry (National Review) “Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney (R) has one very impressive thing going for him as a 2008 presidential prospect: the right policy priorities for the country.”
–Mort Kondracke, (Roll Call & Fox News) "
Who is taking Mitt Romney seriously as a "moral" leader? Dont the political "moral" crowd pride themselves on sticking to just one side of an issue? Romney flip-flops so much (gays, abortion, etc) I cant take a word of it seriously. Who can? And given that I believe the "moral" pandering of politicians will never be taken as seriously ever again.
The Mitt Romney deception? Is he really a good candidate for republicans? This seems to me to be a very dangerous choice for Republicans. http://massresistance.org/docs/marriage/romney/record/#economic_issues no read the whole article from the top of the page
Whats about Mitt Romney and Rudy Guliani? I've got some questions about his background. 1. What party is he in? Democrats or Republicans? 2. What religion is Mitt Romney? 3. Mitt Romney is regarded as _____ for his position on abortion. 4. What's one of the issues that makes people question Rudy Guiliani as president? 5. Where does Rudy Guiliani stand in the polls?
Ok Fellow people cheering 4 Mitt Romney. I want to know why YOU want him as president.? I would like to know where he stands on many issues. I already know he's mormon, and I know he flipped opinions on abortion (For a good reason), but I want to know what he thinks about about Iraq, taxes, ect. Pretend I'm a guy that doesn't know who to vote for and you want to make me vote for mitt romney. No, I'm just a woman that wants to know where Romney stands in many issues.
Is Mitt Romney the "complete conservative"? Yes, I know his views have changed, I know he's "flip-flopped", and I know it's recent. So, what? Ronald Reagan changed his positions on a lot of issues, not just abortion and the Department of Education. But none of the other Republican candidates can claim that their "current" views are in line with the GOP's, either. Rudy Giuliani is a a social liberal; Mike Huckabee has spending and other domestic policy issues; John McCain has a history of moderatism, most notably his supports of immigration and campaign finance reforms; and Ron Paul isn't conservative so much as he is completely libertarian. Yes, Romney has changed his stances; but isn't that exactly what Republicans have been hoping for all this time: that people all over will "change their minds" like Romney has? The GOP should be thrilled. After all, no zealot like a convert. Read this article and tell me what you think. http://article.nationalreview.com/?q=YmMxYTUyYzA1YTk2YzE5NGVmNjc0OGFjYWJmNzMzNjI=&p=1 Googie, I'm not sure what you mean by "at this point". We're less than a month from the first And second nominating contests for the GOP. If you want to defeat Hillary Clinton, then you'd best get interested in a hurry. Dino, one of the advantages of having $250 million of your own money is that you're no slave to special interests. Mitt Romney has never used public office to support the rights of corporations anymore than he has used it to support his church. In his religion speech, he promised to serve no cause except "the common cause" of the United States of America. You can be sure corporate America is covered by that pledge as well. Their interests are served only as long as it's in the best interests of the country itself.
Is there a true conservative who has a chance to win the Republican nomination? Rudy Giuliani and John McCain are way too liberal on many issues. Mitt Romney flip-flops just like John Kerry. Ron Paul is on some other planet. I like Tom Tancredo but he has no chance. Is Fred Thompson the best chance for a real conservative to get the nod?
What does Mitt Romney need to do to win Michigan? I've read how important it is for him to come out ahead there. I volunteered to be make phone calls from home today and of the people that didn't hang up, all of them either were supporting Romney or were convinced to support him after talking to me. What really shocked me were the people who said they were planning on voting, but who didn't know anything about the candidates or where they stood on issues. If you were in Romneys shoes, would you do exactly what he's doing or is there more that he can do?
What does Mitt Romney stand for? A quick and concise list of what he stands and what he plans to do if elected for would be best (on issues like health care, immigration, Iraq, the environment... etc.). Please leave political opinions out of the answer.
Mitt Romney for VP? How does a MITTCAIN ticket sound to you? In New Hampshire on March 12, John McCain announced that he had begun searching for someone to round out the Republican ticket in his bid for the Presidency. Mitt Romney is now being viewed by many as the most likely to accept McCain's invitation (if he were to ask) to join him on the ticket as his running mate. Now, one thing in Romney's favor is the fact that after years of success as a big time player in the global economy, Romney understands how markets work. He could shore up McCain’s admitted weakness on economic issues. Is Mitt Romney the "real deal" and as a VP would help McCain conform a winning formula, one strong in security, one capable of turning around the economy, one able to bring back our pride and faith in our nation? Your thoughts? @ DAR I know but, CAINMITT just wasn't working for me. But, I see your point that the Prez should go before the VP... the final version would of course be McCAIN-ROMNEY
Conservatives: Has your opinion of Mitt Romney changed since his speech regarding his Mormon faith? And do you think the speech helped him or not? Personally, I think it was a good speech and probably helped. My issue with him was NOT his faith, but his propensity for flip-flopping on important, conservative issues. What do you think?
Mitt Romney...Do Mormons really believe that Jesus and Lucifer are brothers and how are they brothers? Why do LDS members, such as Mitt Romney, not want the world to know they believe God has a wife in heaven he makes babies with? LDS SAY: Now get this.. ALL OF US... All humanity began as spirit children of Mr. and Mrs. God.. Jesus and Lucifer are part of ALL of God's creation.. “ This doctrine that there is a Mother in Heaven was affirmed in plainness by the First Presidency of the Church (Joseph F. Smith…)(Man: Origin and Destiny, p.348-355.) I'm going to skip the Bible verses that say Jesus is the Creator of all and get right to the ones that deal with refuting pre-mortal existence... BIBLE SAYS: "Howbeit that was NOT FIRST WHICH IS SPIRITUAL, but that which is natural; and afterward that which is spiritual." (1 Corinthians 15:46 --"...the Lord, which stretcheth forth the heavens:...and FORMETH THE SPIRIT of man within him." (3) (Zechariah 12:1). http://irr.org/mit/Huckabee-Mormon-Jesus-Satan-brothers.html http://www.mrm.org/topics/introductory-issues/leaving-mormonism
How can anybody support Mitt Romney for President? Look at Massachusetts, it is so screwed up. He loved gun control there, because it was popular. He is just like John Kerry; He will say anything to get him into office. How are people so blind that they can't see that? There are many issues he is "flip flopping" on, just look at his record in Massachusetts. Disgusting.
Do you know the Nightmare for Mitt Romney? In this video http://www.electionspeak.com/USElectionVideos/206 , Mitt Romney calls Islamic JEHAD a nightmare that is much greater than national borders. Do you agree on this issue?

There's an old proverb that says "There are only two people who never change: the most wise, and the most foolish." Who exactly do we think we're electing?
Why is Mitt Romney such a liar? Does he want to making the working poor poorer? http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20071013/ap_po/romney Campaigning in northern Michigan, where many employers have struggled to fill jobs in hotels and restaurants during the summer tourist rush, Romney said more temporary workers should be allowed where there are labor shortages. "The answer to that is simple, which is issue more visas," Romney told reporters. "If our employment sector needs additional immigrant laborers, then issue the visas necessary to provide that work force." WHY is this a "simple" solution? How about the solution that these rich in Northren Michigan PAY MORE! They will have NO PROBLEM getting unemployed Michigan people to work!
Mitt Romney and Rudy Guiliani? I've got some questions about his background. 1. What party is he in? Democrats or Republicans? 2. What religion is Mitt Romney? 3. Mitt Romney is regarded as _____ for his position on abortion. 4. What's one of the issues that makes people question Rudy Guiliani as president? 5. Where does Rudy Guiliani stand in the polls?
Does Mitt Romney ever discuss the decline of the US dollar or offer a solution? I've tried to search through his account on YouTube and attempted to check other sources on the web. I can't find him addressing this issue. Anyone have links related to his stance on this? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Dollar_value_chart.gif Wikipedia also notes that the value of the dollar in 2006 purchases $0.41 worth of goods.
Will Daniel Tavares be to Mitt Romney, what Willie Horton was to Michael Dukakis? A judge appointed by Romney released a convicted killer from prison against the Prosecutor's urging. The convict, Daniel Tavares, killed two more people, Brian and Beverly Mauck, after being released from prison by Romney's judge. Is this the issue Giuliani, McCain, and Huckabee have been waiting on to nail Romney with?
Why are Conservatives so adverse to electing the most qualified Republican Candidate, which is Mitt Romney? I'll tell you why. A candidates Gender, Ethnicity, and Religion are the #1 issues for GOP voters.
Where do the presidential frontrunners stand on these issues? I was hoping someone could give me a some clear and concise answers on where John Edwards, Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton, Rudy Giuliani, and Mitt Romney stood on these issues that are important to me. 1) How do they feel about campaign finance reform, and lobbying reform. 2) What are their basic plans for the future of health care 3) Do they support gays and lesbians right to marry 4) Do they support military action in Iran
If Mitt Romney is elected, will he immediately issue Mormon Undergarments to our brave troops fighting in Iraq http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PmwiU0CAu6M http://blogs.knoxnews.com/knx/fredbrown/2008/01/body_armor_one_more_time.html
Did the republicans reject Mitt Romney because he changed his views on Pro-Life? "But remember, it was the base that rejected Mitt because of his switch on pro-life, from pro-choice to pro-life. It was the base that rejected Mitt because it had issues with Mormonism. It was the base that rejected Mitch, Mitt, because they thought he was back and forth and waffling on those very economic issues you're talking about. So, I mean, I hear what you're saying, but before we even got to a primary vote, the base had made very clear they had issues with Mitt because if they didn't, he would have defeated John McCain in those primaries in which he lost.: Per Republican Michael Steele
Why Mitt Romney did ignored medical marijuana questions? After the victory of Michigan Primary, Mitt Romney leads for the US election 2008, but he ignores question on medical marijuana. What do you think on this issue? http://www.electionspeak.com/USElectionVideos/331
Mitt Romney ignored the tax question issue? Of the 12,300 answers an overwhelming majority of individuals cried out for the fair tax act. What was selected as best answer - Make our taxes simple - It just goes to show H.R. 25 The Fair Tax Act will go on being ignored by politicians. Does anyone think politicians really want a simple tax report for middle and lower class America? Who cares where the the IRS employees would work. They have been instrumental in destroying many decent American lives/ Americans should read the actual bill before answering the question. In short every dollar you earn enters your pocket. The only time a tax is paid is if you buy something BRAND NEW. Any used item or property including a house bought or sold is NOT TAXED. ALL TAXES are eliminated. The bill also eliminates article 16 of the constitution. Gas tax gone, phone tax gone, property tax gone, energy tax gone. Read the bill

Or Moses'? In fact, isn't that exactly why they had so much trouble in their times? Because they had "new prophets" and "new scriptures"? You can call Mitt Romney's beliefs crazy if you want, but don't forget how "crazy" Christianity, and religion in general, truly is. Even if you're agnostic, you can't believe that being that being religious necessarily prohibits a person from possessing and exercising good judgment. Despite everything horrible that's been done in the name of "religion", many good things have been done as well.

Should we be electing our president from the ranks of community college dropouts? Think of it this way: George W. Bush went to school, came out with roughly the same IQ as he went in. Mitt Romney earned a joint MBA-law degree, hard to do even by Ivy League standards. Those millions of his? He earned every dollar himself. Don't we want someone that smart handling the economy and the federal budget? Sean, I don't know if it's that you've just read Mormon Doctrine too many times or what, but that is not what the LDS Church teaches. Elder McConkie offered that as his opinion. It has never been official doctrine of the church, and it's certainly not something taught in Sunday School or Seminary classes.
Mitt Romney and John Edwards : The fakest candidates? Does anyone else think that these two men are fakest candidates running for president? Romney talks so much on the surface and contradicts himself too much to my liking. Also hes changed every social issue stance since deciding to run for president. Its like he's made a complete 360 on issues like gay marriage, abortion, and global warming. Hes gone from socially liberal to uberconservative in about a year. WTF! John Edwards with his metrosexual self always talking about poverty while he chills at his mansion. Why not lead by example? It seems like he's always trying to hard to put himself out there. He comes off very disingenous. What do you all think? Just wanting some healthy American debate.
Questions related to Mitt Romney? On Mitt Romney's commercial he says something to the effect that he wants to cut the budget for everything except defense. (If you can quote it better, please do.) Am I the only one that sees this as undesirable? To me, he's basically saying that he will cut funding for things that benefit the citizens of the United States. I prefer good schools, nice highways, and FEMA. And (I'm sure I'm in the minority on this) I would even be in favor of a well-funded welfare system. I'm not a big fan of politics and I don't consider myself conservitave on most issues. Is this thought more appealing to people of the Republican party? Your thoughts please.
Does anyone know what Mitt Romney really stands for? Romney had a question on Yahoo answers and it was so typical of a politician- using words like "growth" and "innovation"and "ease the burden on families" but not really provoking any real discussion about anything important- that it got me to thinking about what he was really all about. He has flipped on a number of issues to appear like a better choice to conservatives (abortion rights, gun control, gay marriage for example). He recently joined the NRA as a Best Friends Forever and Ever member and is trying to convince people that he has hunted his whole life when it appears that he has hunted twice- when he was a kid and again about a year ago. I'm not saying it's a bad thing that guys like Bush and Romney and Guliani don't follow through on their promises to the far right after they get elected- most of these things are things I oppose anyway- why does the far right keep folling for it? "He stand for the American people"- way to answer the question like a politician. Perplexed- you kind of missed my point- it's impossible to tell what a person stands for while their trying to get elected if the stands they take during the campaign differ from the stands they've taken in the past.
Well, I have to ask....does anyone really care that Mitt Romney is a Mormon...? ....I'm talking about how you view him as a candidate. As a voter do you really care if someone is "this religion" or "that religion"? Now, I'm not a Romney fan - I admit that I'm leaning to one of the Democratic candidates, but I was just cureous if anyone, while evaluating their choices, really judges Romney based on his religion - I just think his stances on the issues are more important. I'm curoeus what you think. Thanks.
MITT ROMNEY showed up last January with all the "right" positions--has he ever tried to solve a national issue Has he ever DONE anything? Does he benefit in his race against McCain by virtue of never actually doing anything of any importance on a national level? I'd be the first to admit that John McCain bungled two big issues: campaign finance and illegal immigration----but he took a leadership role on those issues and it is in the context of his efforts that we even debate it. I believe he is starting to get things right---as best typified by his ability to change Bush's Iraq policy (firing Rumsfeld and adding 30,000 troops to the fight). Romney says all the things his advisors tell him----but what has he ever done!!! Please star this question to get as many Republicans---even Romney supporters to see this question!
Why vote for Gordon Hinckley aka Mitt Romney for president? Romney said he will not compromise his faith. His faith demands loyalty to Hinckley "in all matters". If elected, he would still be expected to follow the instructions of Mormon leadership with the same obligation as he would if God himself were personally delivering such instructions. The LDS Church does not hesitate to become involved in national issues if such issues are connected to the practices of the church. http://joel-junior.com/wp/2007/12/07/rom... They aren't going to admit it, but then they are pro's at hiding their true agenda : http://www.irr.org/mit/hinckley.html Just to be clear, I do not hate mormons - I do hate mormonism because it is a lie that preys on good people. If it were the truth they wouldn't have to change their "bibles" all the time. http://www.irr.org/mit/Lamanites-DNA-Book-of-Mormon.html http://www.google.com/search?sourceid=navclient&ie=UTF-8&rls=GGLD,GGLD:2004-06,GGLD:en&q=changes+to+book+of+mormon I don't believe the mormon god is the same God Christian's believe in. Christian's do not believe God used to be a man - we believe it's a sin to think that. We don't believe men can become a god - that is beyond sin, but mormon's do believe that. http://www.lifeafter.org/exaltedman.asp http://www.google.com/search?sourceid=navclient&ie=UTF-8&rls=GGLD,GGLD:2004-06,GGLD:en&q=changes+to+book+of+mormon Thank you for your input, All. Please understand the difference between Christian belief and Mormon. Christian's believe that our actions should reflect our belief, that we should try to act more like God wants us to, more holy or "God like". We know we don't stand a chance of being as good as He is, but we should still try our best. There is an eternity of salvation worth of difference between being "god-like" and "godhood", between trying to be more like Him and being equal to Him. Mormon's believe they can become equal and have the same divinity and perfection. This is completely different from the concept of theosis in modern mainstream Christian groups. They think they will exercise that power in their own universe, just like their god Elohim has all the power over this universe. They believe the universe is ever expanding, to accomodate all the exalted men who become gods, just like Elohim (their god) did. Their god is not the God of Christians.
Is Mitt Romney acting the most presidential? Everyone talks about how presidential he looks, but what about how he acts? Mike Huckabee zings people with one-liners and strums on his electric guitar. John McCain gives crummy jokes (steps all over them, actually) and talks about his record as a war hero. Fred Thompson, when he's actually campaigning, just likes to point out how conservative he's "always" been. Meanwhile, Romney gives what most pundits on both sides of the aisle call "board room presentations" on the problems facing the country. Styles aside, who's spending more time talking about the issues and how to address them? Who's running the most policy-driven campaign? Well, Justin, I respect your opinion, but let me remind you that Mitt Romney is the only candidate running who has promised that his religion, while it is a part of his character, will not interfere with the decisions he will face as president. Every candidate on both sides of the aisle has stated how important their faith is; especially Mike Huckabee. Romney is the only one who has stated that he will keep church and state completely separate.

Will Gov. Mitt Romney be running on the polygamy ticket this election? I don't know why Fox News and MSNBC continue to give Governor Mitt Romney easy questions. We can't find out whether or not he will be trying to push the legality of polygamy once in the White House. One of my Law students brought up the fact that Mr. Romney is a practicing Mormon and that Mormonism was illegal in the United States due to the polygamy aspect. I mentioned that Mr. Romney's political background does not reflect his Mormon beliefs and that he appears to go with the ideals suggested by more mainstream Republicans. But every news anchor that has interviewed him has been stepping around the polygamy issue. I think that is due to the fact that polygamy is a fundamental belief of the Mormon faith. In the public eye Mr. Romney only shows off one wife but then as Dateline MSNBC showed they only expose the host wife, as not to get caught. There are those that argue that if you allow Gay marriage then to be equal you have to allow polygamy. But Gay marriage isn't legal anyway. "Mainstream Mormons rejected polygamy a long time ago". What are you talking about? The founder of radical Mormonism (Joseph Smith) was born in 1805 and any mainstream Mormonism didn't exist before him? He wasn't born that long ago so your statement doesn't make any sense (a long time ago). This country had been run by Judeo-Christian lawmakers and the Christian faith doesn't allow for polygamy or homosexuality. Joseph Smith was a disgruntled Christian and founded his own religion that would accept his sexual desire for many women. The Christian churches outlawed polygamy and that is why it has been illegal in the United States and Western Europe even hundreds of years before any form of Mormonism (radical or so-called mainstream) began or existed. "Just a bit shy on your history aren't you? The Mormon community did away with multiple wives years ago". Doctdon, Perhaps you need a history lesson they didn't do away with it. The Christians didn't let them do it. With all due respect Doctdon, you really need to read below the titles and beyond the first page.
Mitt Romney Politics? Personally I like Mitt and think he would be a good president. We know he is Mormon. This seems to be an issue for many people. Why doesnt he just flip on that like everything else? Abortion, Immigration, Gay rights. He could just say he's not Mormon anymore. Go back after he gets in. He has flipped on everything else to get the bid. But the question is do you trust what he says about his religion this week, when he has changed everything else? Or do you think he should just be who he is and we dont care if he is a Mormon, Gay allowing, Immigration helping, Abortion allowing person he has always been.
How will Mitt Romney respond to Gordon B. Hinckleys death? I know its a sad day for the LDS church, and my thoughts and prayers are with them. But I am kind of interested on how Mitt Romney will respond? Will he continue to campaign, or go to Utah after the Florida Primary, issue a statement, or just do nothing? Any speculation? Thanks.
Mitt Romney said this:? "I can't imagine anything worse than polygamy." Now, I'm not saying he is lying. Nor am I addressing his record or his stand on most issues. But isn't this a weird thing to say? Can't imagine ANYTHING worse than polygamy? What about assault? Arson? Murder? Rape? Fraud? Yeah, it was a remark made at a moment in time--but does it strike anyone else as just...odd? Even a little bit worrisome?
