What is wrong with Mitt Romney being a Mormon? Everyone is making such a big deal about Mitt Romney being mormon when its just a religion. I mean we have freedom of religion. Not being mormon, I look up to them for holding strong to their tough values. If we are critizing any candidate, why not Obama, he doesn't even salute the flag. If Mitt Romney were not Mormon, would he be the Republican Nominee? I can't help thinking this guy would have been the perfect conservative poster child if he were the nominee in spite of flip flops, but I think his religion may have killed him in the South, and much of the evangelical portion of the electorate, and the electorate on the whole who were suspicious of Mormonism due to its doctrine. I also think this because he has tons of money with which to fund its campaign, looks good for TV, and has a pretty wife and kids. Mitt Romney is a Mormon? I've read in many forums that Mitt Romney has been attending meetings in a Mormon temple. I don't know if this is true or if it's just a smear tactic from the left because the leader of the Mormon church was just arrested. Warren Jeffs of the Mormons (FLDS) is accused of statutory rape. Jeffs to the Mormons is a prophet and God's only representative on Earth. Hmm, looks like they haven't changed since the Joseph Smith days. I wonder if this will disqualify Romney from the election? Why do christians find Mitt Romney being a Mormon as a bad thing? Its all over the news. He's a great candidate but, he's Mormon. If a Jewish person was running for office they wouldn't question it because it would be racist. They should just get off of his back about being a Mormon and look what he is as a person. He would make an excellent president. He is one of the few honest polititions. So whats the big deal about his religion? Mormonism is not a cult for the first thing. Being considered a cult is by size the Mormon religion is way over 10 million strong world wide. If that is a cult then I don't know what is. They are also Christian. If, you didn't know this then do your homework because they believe also in the Bible. Its just other christian religions put them down in many other ways. Mitt Romney, a devoted Mormon, wants to be President. How does he feel about The Mountain Meadows Massacre.? It was September 11, 1857. A wagon train of 160 settlers on their way to California was massacred by a bunch of Mormons dressed in Indian clothes. 17 children under the age of 8 were spared and lived to tell their story. 1st. They dressed as Indians but after five days they changed tactics. 2nd. Then they went a bit away ,dressed back into normal clothes and acted like the Rescue Party who had negotiated a deal with the"Indians". 3rd, Then confiscated all the guns as part of the deal for "saving" the travellers and Mormon dissidents( who were the reason for the attack in the first place). 4th. Took everybody off a mile or so and shot them all. 2 men got away but were eventually tracked down and killed a day or so later. 5th. Took the 17 children they had not killed back with them to Salt Lake City. 6th. Got away with it. After a publicized trial, with the childrens own testimony admitted into the court, only 1 man was convicted and shot, John D. Lee. ( pardoned by Church 1950) It ended up being called the Mountain Meadows Massacre. The first time in U.S. history that U.S. citizens were massacred on U.S. soil by religious wackos. This event is even more significant because the total U.S. population at the time was much smaller.(I dont know the exact numbers, maybe only 30 million or so) In todays numbers it would be around 1400 dead. This issue is especially important because Mitt is devoted to this "Church". They never ex-communicated any of the people who did this horrible crime except John D. Lee and his good standing in their "Church" was re-instated in the 1950's . So, Mitt, are you in denial of this whole mess too? My Parents tried to raise me Catholic. By age 10 I had learned about the Inquisitions and all the Conquistadores and the bad stuff related to the "Church" and I immediatly demanded that I would no longer be forced to have anything to do with it. The mormons never took responsibility for this crime and even reinstated John D. Lee after his death. Brigham Young made numerous statements condoning this crime. Is Mitt Romney being a Mormon actually a GOOD thing, and a reason to vote FOR him? Let's get the facts straight on Mormonism: There are only 3 churches in America with more members (Roman Catholic, Southern Baptist, and United Methodist). If we question whether a Mormon should be president, we never allow a Lutheran, Presbyterian, Assembly of God, or Episcopalian to be president, since those churches are all smaller, right? Mormons believe in Jesus Christ, the Bible, being faithful to ONE spouse (no, they don't practice polygamy), charity, honesty, obeying the law, not swearing, not using addictive substances (alcohol, tobacco, coffee, etc), and are generally some of the most wholesome members of society. Mormons have served as upstanding governors, senators, and cabinet members for nearly 200 years. I think Romney being a mormon is a reason TO vote for him, not to vote AGAINST him. The fact that he adheres to a religion with such high standards is very commendable! Ask almost anyone what religion (if any) the other presidential candidates belong to and no one knows.

Even if Mitt Romney is a mormon....? because he is a mormon & "supposedly believes in a different God"...does this affect how he will act as President? Is there suddenly a God 1 and a God 2. There are some major differences but don't Mormons have the same ideas in a sense of trying to get back to heaven? I don't think I've even Heard of the Book of the Law of the Lord, and there is absolutely no doctrine about whether Christ was married while on Earth. I'll just take this time to point out the two Biggest mistakes you made: one, there is no doctrine, nor has there ever been in our church, about whether Christ was ever married, just the opinions of past and current members; and two, there is no Book of the Law of the Lord used in any of our church services or Sunday School classes. I don't think one even exists. Your other "points" are mostly either distorted or completely bungled. Find some better anti-Mormon sources.
